    I love the 71 Cutlass too. My Mom had one, got it new and I learned to drive it. Hers was the four door sedan with the 350 v8. Most notable difference between 70, 71 and 72 were the tail lights.

      @@TheMuscleCarModelerNice builds. I do the year swap thing as much as possible too. I have taken an AMT 55 Bel Air 2 door post and made it into a 4 door 210 back in the 70's. My late younger brother and I built it together. He had a real one. I gave him the $100 to buy it in 1973. No rust anywhere, just oxidized paint. It sat for 11 years. It wasn't seized at all. A fuel pump, a battery and clean fuel it fired right up. Well anyway I did a 4 door conversion to a Revell 1957 Chevy Black Widow last year. I took a Revell 1956 Del Ray 210 and sanded off the quarter panel chrome spear to make a 150. I got more 4 doors to make! Years ago I took the roof from a Revell 1957 El Dorado and made a 1957 Bel Air 4 door hardtop! There's all kinds of tricks we can do. Take care and keep the hobby alive!

    Beautiful builds all of them! And again impressed with your knowledge. Maybe you love Oldsmobiles as much as i do lol. I agree the Revell kit is the best around for it. Now if someone would make a 68 kit (besides the old Modelhaus), and a good resin engine with a few options... Maybe even a Vista Cruiser?

    Sadly about 5 yrs back I had the convertible but sold it....kinda wish I still had it. I'm comforted knowing I still have my mint in box 69 Roadrunner by Jo han as well as an original from 66 Color Me Gone mpc charger funnycar and an original 1970 Gtx by mpc and an original Mpc Candies and Hughes Cuda funnycar lol

      It’s hard for me to sell a kit. I usually score some good ones here cheap. Once I have an extra then I’ll usually sell one.

    Great video Raoul. Yes I think Revell did a fantastic job on this one. For those who want an accurate representation of the car. I'm hoping they will fill in the 'gaps' so to speak with the different model changes. Wouldn't it be nice if Revell offered decal packs, so if you messed up, you could just open your decal pack with all the decals of their muscle car releases and find the same one. These builds are so nice to see round up and Linda Vaughn looks great on there. Did you know Linda can be seen CLOSE UP in the film 'Gum Ball Rally' if you want to touch up your figure.

  • @joakimkarlsson9255
    @joakimkarlsson9255 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great build, as usual! I think Johan got both the roofline as well as the curve on top of the front fender better. The Revell is a bit too straight. Thats just minor nitpickin though. Revell has made a super nice kit. I'd really like to see a '70 to '72 Vista Cruiser wagon based on this tooling as well!

    I love that they are re-releasing the older cars so we don't have to pay those idiot Ebay scalpers ridonkulous prices for 50 year old plastic. Makes it so we hobbyists can actually enjoy the hobby again. Thank you Revell, Round 2 and everyone else for bringing the hobby back.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    • @animalyze7120
      @animalyze7120 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler Right? I am so hoping they get to making new kits, I love the re-releases especially the upcoming Dodge Demon (I will buy 6 for sure lol). But I hope to see them make new car kits like Revell has been doing and maybe brand new versions of older cars like a full version of the 80 camaro and 83 style camaros for starters. There's a ton of cars that were never made and would be cool to see them start on those too.

    I really dislike the "Fat Back" GM's 68-69s, except for the Cutlass line.
    Somehow they just had a better look.
    Briefly owned a 70 442 as a teenager in 1989.
    It overheated, the interior was trashed, took a mile to stop from 60, and rocked back and forth like a ship in a storm.
    But under perfect conditions, it would pin you in the seat so hard thru 3rd gear to 90, it made more than one grown man try to grab the dash, and mash thier imaginary passenger brake pedal.

    I am wanting to re-create a 72 Cutlass Supreme that I had when I was 16. It was not the fast back, and had a vynil top. Other than ordering a resin printed one, do you think the top from a 70-72 MonteCarlo fitted to maybe the Revell Cutlass Supreme Convertible car would work?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I have not done it myself but a few have. Missing Link resin body was done that way also. Kevin says he is going to reissue that body again as it is not available currently.

    Raoul,
    Love your builds, history, and tutorials in both! I've recently gotten a couple AMT '69 442s and one each Revell '71 coupe and '72 convertible 442. I have a couple questions, since you are an expert.
    I see a lot if '71s with '72 seats and door panels. I'm guessing these are restorations and only '72 pattern parts are still being made in the aftermarket. Would you agree?
    Also, I want to build my '71 coupe as an "S" with a flat hood (from the '72 convo) and a 400 (from a '69 kit) as a pseudo 350. What do you think of that plan? Where can I score some Cutlass badge decals (these kits only have 442 and W30 badges)?

    • @badjuju81
      @badjuju81 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, I'll use the '72 convo Supreme grille, knowing it isn't right for the "S", but it's closer than the 442 grille.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. I don't have all the answers. I have been puzzled by the interior patters myself. It is unclear if a Cutlass S, or 442 have different seat patterns. or if a deluxe option or leather have a different pattern and that is why we see different ones. Plus, after 50 years most have been redone so who knows what has happened.
      I believe Model Car Garage has some emblems on the photo etch set. www.modelcargarage.com/eshop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=427&idcategory=0
      Keith Marks also has some on his Rallye 350 set. public.fotki.com/mofobow/oldsmobile/4-4-2/70_rallye_350/ I believe he is charging $20 a set now but have not purchased from him lately.

    • @badjuju81
      @badjuju81 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, thanks for the reply Raoul! I'll check that stuff out. I think the street rod version of the convertible (red/black box art with the big wheels) has Cutlass emblems, too. I don't see any of those on eBay lately.

    • @badjuju81
      @badjuju81 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That MCG detail set also has grille inserts I could use.

  • @robertnussberger6449
    @robertnussberger6449 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would the automatic trans or the standard shift trans be compatible with the 65 to 70 revell chevelle kits .
    I ask you because you seem pretty knowledgeable about gm parts

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could get away with using them but, the transmissions in the kit are BOP (Buick Olds Pontiac) design. Basically, the bellhousing that bolts to the block is different and won't bolt up to the Chevy engine in real life. The chevy design comes to a point at the top of the trans and the BOP design has two peaks. In scale this may not be seen from the top of the engine as it is so close to the firewall. The rest of the trans is the same and you couldn't tell from looking at the bottom. You could also have an issue as some Revell 65-70 Chevelle kits are 1/24 and some are 1/25 as well.

    • @robertnussberger6449
      @robertnussberger6449 ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheMuscleCarModeler I was thinking of cutting the 67 chevelle after the bell housing and either making it a automatic or manual trans .
      I want my model to be a different version than out of the box chevelle
      Thanks for writing back

    Ughhhhhh! the Green color looks terrible. So many other better looking colors. I'd try a factory color. The model looks fantastic though. Nice work. The wing on the back of a real Chevelle would look terrible.
