My favorite live action Batman? Well, for me it was Michael Keaton. When I was a kid, Tim Burton's Batman was the first one I saw and got me so hooked on The Dark Knight. Since this day, Keaton is forever my number one Batman.
Wish we saw Keaton in this suit in the Batgirl movie. It'd have been nice to see modern day Keaton actually in Gotham with a pair of directors who know how to direct stylised action. Pairing him with J.K. Simmons as Gorden just made sense as well - even if that age difference was definitely odd.

Personally, if a bunch of people filmed and put effort into a movie, I'd much rather that film be able to get released than shoved into some vault for tax write-offs. I won't preemptively judge the value of a piece of art when I have no way of watching it.

I know people hate the flash movie, but they knocked it out the PARK with this suit. Its so perfect in every way I honestly think it puts his 89 and 92 suit to SHAME. I guess its unfair to compare considering the modern technology we have today, but they made it look like something he would wear 30 years in the future. Looks modern and believable while not sacrificing the familiarity we all know from the old suit. 10/10
Keaton is one of my favorite Batmen, '89 Batman renewed my love for the character. I love me some Affleck Bats too but Keaton will always have a special place in my heart. This figure looks great, I love that smirking face plate and the bat wings but I don't know whether i'll spring for this guy.
Hollywood not pulling the trigger on a Batman Beyond film while Kevin Conroy was alive the biggest missed opportunity. If they don't do one before we lose Keaton, they are insane. R.I.P. Adam West and Kevin Conroy.
YES! FIANLLY! This suit is nearly PERFECT! The figure isn't by any means, but the suit is. Love the fogure but the meterial for the chest is a very weird choice
Favorite live action Batman is honestly a 3 way between Pattinson, Bale and Kilmer for me. All 3 nail something else that the other adaptation don’t have. Pattinson is the PERFECT intimidating presence as batman, and I love his physicality and the way he moves, Bale is easily our best Bruce Wayne and best developed Batman as a character so far, and Kilmer has beautiful art design and the ability to just have fun comic book goofiness on his side
I gotta say, this is my favorite Keaton suit, the modernity of it just works so well for me, the other 2 are just as close to this one, if we got this modern suit with a golden buckle it would be my perfect Keaton suit

This beautiful figure is coming home 😍😍 whenever that is cause Sideshow delayed theirs. Personally, the head sculpt and the full suit with the cowl on, it's a 10/10 for me. I can't wait to get this! And I don't care what anyone says, The Flash movie was really really good!
Agree with all your observations Justin, in summary this is a great figure, except for the awful cape collar when using the MK sculpt. Hopefully someone will make a custom one to replace it and it will be a 10/10!

So Hot Toys did nice and smooth suit on this bad boy but not on 89 and gave us this.... ahh we all know what. This figure is still impressive and I love the Mighty Keaton Batman.
Not bad! Honestly If they were gonna do this kind of cape I wish they brought that over to stuntman batfleck one, feel like this kinda material would work for it.
The figure looks incredible, I was worried about the bruce wayne headsculpt but it came really good, I preordered this guy long ago, however the pleather cape is now making me reconsider getting him as it will be destroyed eventually, on the other hand this Batman has the best articulation for poses, I will have to analyze once again pros and cons to make my final decision
Maybe this suit was an experiment for the new body. I would figure that they can re-do the Batman Returns in a few years when they decide to release non-pleather capes. Batman with this suit composition is the equivalent to diecast to Iron Man.
This modern Keaton Batsuit is one of my top 5 favorite Batsuits, my second favorite to be exact 1. BvS Batsuit 2. Keaton modern Batsuit 3. Batman Begins suit 4. The Batman Batsuit 5. Dark Knight (Rises) Batsuit
I am quite sure the gear on the inside of his wrists and forearms were actually lasers. He used them to open the cover leading down to the elevator deeper down the russian experiments labs. Really cool scene he had little time to do it and he actually managed. Imagine what temperature it must generate to cut through a few inches of steel
I really like the ninja aesthetic of the modern suit. It kinda reminds of the one Christian Bale was wearing when he was training with Liam Neeson in Begins
Interestingly, the promo shots show a collar piece when using the Keaton head sculpt. Did they really not include that piece (you can see it in the "Separate Rolling Eyes" promo shots)?
Further comparison it looks like it is kind of there, they just cheaped out on the material and it doesn't look as good as the promos. Really unfortunate, but I'm still looking forward to getting this one delivered.
my DX09 cape has held up well - just one little mark on it during constant shelf time the last 10 years - haven't seen rapid cape degradation with the Afflecks either
The face is fine, it's the hair, watch the video and cover the hair with your thumb. The likeness improves 💯. Great review. Should get mine next year(canadian) jajaja
Great review as always. I will say one of your gripes is legit; however, it was done with a purpose. That "batbib" with the Keaton's headsculpt was a copy of when Bruce doesn't have his cowl on and yet has his Bat symbol on. Kinda looks the same.
I still think Keaton’s suit is top 5 of all time of any version. Comics, live action, games, anything. The movie wasn’t great but they did the suit justice by modernizing it a little.
This is truely a stunning piece but i do agree that there should be a collar section. Watching this review has made me wonder though, is a custom cape going to fix the pleather issue? Seeing how the cape attaches to the emblem and how the cowl inserts makes me think there may be additional steps to fit a custom cape?
Also I see why they did that with the cape when the unmasked sculpt is on because in the movie that lets get nuts scene he doesnt really have anything there between the cape and neck and head. They could have made it better looking thats for sure
How easy would it be to replace that cape with a leather one? Like if I bought this and the cape started to deteriorate a few years down the line, unless I was a serious collector with the know-how, what would I even do? I have 0 skills/knowhow to customize a figure like this. Does Hottoys just assume that if you're the kind of person to buy a figure like this then you'd probably be savvy enough to repair it/customize it? That seems wacky to me
For me this design is the total opposite of motocross blue cgi batman. Moreso it's this style that they've steered away from since Batman and Robin. Its a superhero cowl with a solid Batman logo. It doesn't try to downplay it or build it out of parts to make it look like the Bat Symbol. Nice bright yellow background with a solid bat logo. Really my only issue with this costume is the belt isn't gold. Honestly that gave Keaton a ton of great suits in the film despite not wearing them. The Returns suit gives me Vader vibes.
The Batman Returns suit will always be my favorite Bat suit and my favorite Batman movie with Dark Knight coming in 2nd and Mask of The Phantasm at 3rd. Keaton's my Batman and I watch Returns every year, especially around Christmas. Watched Returns 1000 times as a kid lol. I do not like the cowl on this suit, especially the eyes. The suit isn't bad but when you compare that cowl and even the full suit from Returns? Returns is just sleeker, the cowl is a perfect Batman cowl look. I also hated that after all these years, I finally see him back as Batman just for them to kill him off. The Flash isn't canon to my Burtonverse, whatever they made there was some multiverse crap.

it´s such a shame about the darn cape collar, other than that this is a 10/10 figure and for my favorite Batman it´s hard to pick a true favorite because i love Keaton especially in The Flash, Kilmer especially in the Schumacher Cut which hasn´t been released but if you watch the Red Book Edition it´s as close as we´re gonna get to it and he´s phenomenal, Clooney (my childhood Batman, nothing will make me hate him), Bale in Begins, Ben is absolutely fantastic and i love him in all of his appearances so yeah basically they´re all my favorite lol

it´s such a shame about the darn cape collar, other than that this is a 10/10 figure and for my favorite Batman it´s hard to pick a true favorite because i love Keaton especially in The Flash, Kilmer especially in the Schumacher Cut which hasn´t been released but if you watch the Red Book Edition it´s as close as we´re gonna get to it and he´s phenomenal, Clooney (my childhood Batman, nothing will make me hate him), Bale in Begins, Ben is absolutely fantastic and i love him in all of his appearances so yeah basically they´re all my favorite lol
Yeah other than that I'd say this is a must have, well it still is but you know what I mean. It's so unfortunate that they didn't figure out a way to do better there

Hey Justin I guess you could have the modern suit Batman as an empty bat suit I popped out the eyes safely with some tweezers and use that black mouthpiece. I guess that’s what it’s for. Hot toys just don’t tell you I guess😅
Maybe! But then the eyelids are still there with skin texture and sculpted eyelashes. At leas they're painted black I guess
