  • Sorry for being away for a while. Editing the last big weathering video burnt me out on videos for a bit.
    Today we will look at MiniAat's recent release of a StuG III prototype. We'll go through all the details, photoetched elements, fit issues, and inaccuracies in the model, etc. It's a very nice kit and I highly recommend it.
    Thanks to Juno Models for supplying me with this kit. They distribute Takom, MiniArt, AMK, IBG, and other model kits to hobby shops in Canada. They're also great dudes.

    DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

    Good review Evan. It looks like a really nice kit. I know what you mean by the video editing. I'm working on a video build right now and there are so many raw files to go through and edit together, so I feel your pain. :)

    Yes, Mini Art is definitely upping their game. Not quite the fit and finish of Tamiya but excellent detail and really nice looking kit. Love the suspension and pe is a nice touch. Thanks for the review.

    great to hear your thoughts on the kit. I might get to build it too at some point, mainly because it is a stug :) not the prettiest of them, but part of the line.

    A couple of bottles of extra thin make a perfect sized template for constructing hull floor and sides,for squaring the angles at joins.

    I saw the Mini Art Mk IV versions,with the different suspension types,most dragon options are pretty limited.Just built dak 3in1 with tools on roof,front fenders up,and put PE 3x spare wheel holder on front,two wire wheel holders on side vents and built a frame out of brass rod for jerry cans.The padlocks on turret bin were a punishment.The Mini Art STUG looks good,new bits,dragon does like the lego method,be nice to see some more versions of a vehicle that deserves the research.Prototype,low profile,aerodynamic?i know whats missing,front and rear spoiler.Back to my tiger turret basket......cheers great vid,good looking kit.Hope bronco tries to one up it.

    Iwas looking at ROCHM model's website for some tiger PE for the new sturmtiger,and in the gallery there was a stug IIIB built and detailed ready for painting.Maybe theyll release the detailed parts as a set?

    I've got this in my stash still from when it came out lol but now build Dragon's newer Ausf B stug with alot of wrong interior parts as they just used the cradle n that from the G stugs for it! So thinking if I could Rob this gun or the one out my bronco kit n stick it in the ausf B so it's corrected as heck of alot more detail than what's in this! Even that TC seat and side seat I'm Needing

    Amazed at your ability with photo-etch with just a pair of pliers and a ruler edge! Very impressive. Serious question though - have you never thought of investing in some proper photo-etch tools? I know they are expensive for what they are - but they are little more than the price of decent kit and will last a life-time. I returned to the hobby after 40 years away and found the photo-etch very challenging. I'm getting better though. I find the forming of the various shapes etc to be quite good fun and relatively simple - cleaning up the smaller parts (eg: bolt heads!!) and sticking them to the model is another matter though.

      Thank you! I have been interested in getting some proper tools for that. Do you have any recommendations?

    • @Shannon-jb2kt
      @Shannon-jb2kt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Panzermeister. I confess I went all in with a Small Shop "hold & fold" bending tool figuring it was a one-off investment purchase and skimping on price was probably a false economy. I know RP Toolz are pretty good and slightly less cost wise but my experience is generally you get what you pay for. Whilst expensive, and rather underwhelming when you open up the box, they are incredibly well made. I still do some simple bends with pliers/tweezers etc but there are usually components in every kit where a bending tool comes in to its own. You certainly cannot get the same clean, accurate, sharp angles by hand.

      for bolt heads,a blob of slow setting FLEXY 5K and a coctail stick,use one end to apply glue and lick the other end to pick up bolts.Doing it now in a tiger mid turret interior.The flexy 5 stays ready to bond longer,and not as brittle when dry.Costs a little more...g/l if you like armour the RMF Panther is the best moulding ever made in plastic.Full interior.unbelieveable model kit.2017...

    Nice video. I have become a big fan of the Stumgeschutz and am building the Bronco Stug III. I have watched your video on the kit and found it helpful. I am adding crewmen to the model and I had a question as to what color the crews uniforms should be. Are they black like the panzer crews or are the Grey or german field grey like the field artillery units.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Steve Wismark thank you! Crew uniforms should be field grey for StuG III. In some cases you can see them crewed by rear panzer crews but that was only late in the war.

      Thanks for the info, Your videos got me back into modeling after a 36 year break. I'm looking forward to trying out some of your weathering techniques. The more i watch the more I am learning. Have you ever tried Easy Metal Links tracks as replacement tracks. I just bought a set and am looking forward to giving them a try.
