Btw, when ppl talk about customizability on android, they're not talking about making things look pretty, they're talking about making the software more convenient and cater to each person's needs, this includes automation, routines, countless widgets for quick access to specific areas within apps, websites etc. Possibilities are literally endless.

I had been an Android user for most of my life… at least until the iPhone 11 came out and I mostly switched out of curiosity. Honestly I think either iOS and Android can work, but like you said it really depends on your own personal needs and wants from your smartphone and accessories. Now I use an iPhone 13 and an iPad 9 and I really like the consistency and long term use options Apple has over the Android devices which don’t really last as long when it comes to app support. But, I won’t pretend that I don’t sometimes miss the more customizable nature of Androids and the freedom that comes with it, but Apple makes up for it with great consistency and quality. Use what makes you happy. Both are great and both have their pros and cons and both will only be as useful as you make it.

Great Video - in my family I have 3 iphones (wife and kids) and one Android (mine). The reason I am still on Android is specifically for the customization components - I have a single screen where I can get /view weekly weather (animated) - music player (with album art - animated) - batter percentage - charging status (animated) - 2 separate wallpaper sections - highly functional quick launch bar / popups all on one screen - I also make use of the Always on Display - but most important - was the Notification Light (blink) that would show me by color - what type of notifications I have - no need to 'wake up ' the phone to know if I have received something or not. To me that was the biggest feature (of a Samsung Galaxy 9 [and before] ) . Again - personal choice!

I'll very likely always be in Google's ecosystem instead of Apple's, unless Apple were for some reason to go cross-platform for their services. It's quite simple, really. I refuse to go with an ecosystem that locks me in totally. I want to feel like I'm free to do what I want. If I want to go to iPhone, I will. If I want to switch back to Android, I will. That's what Google affords me the right to. BECAUSE Apple wants to sell you hardware, they will do anything they can to keep you from using an Android phone with your iPad, or an iPhone with your Android tablet. With Google, you can have an Android Phone and an iPad and still have a reasonably decent time. TH-cam Music, Chrome, Docs/Sheets/Slides, Keep Notes, Google Maps, Google News, Google Photos, Google Drive, Google Play Books, etc. All these are on Android and iOS and are synced between devices. When I had an iPad Pro last year, I refused to use Apple services unless I had to, because I'm not going to let myself get sucked into their locked ecosystem.
I really respect how good Apple are at what they do. Amazing hardware, polished software, beautiful products and seamless integration. But their insistence on me sticking with them and only them is what keeps me away.

I want to be free from being stuck to a certain company or ecosystem. By using Google's ecosystem, I can use any Android or iOS device, because Google apps are available on both!

Great video! Especially when explaining the difference between the two platforms. Might I suggest mentioning how Android works within the ChromeOS and Windows ecosystem now too: Sending and Receiving Chat messages on Windows or ChromeOS, Starting an email on Android and finishing it on ChromeOS or Windows, unlocking your Chrome tablet or laptop with your phone, Send a broadcast messages from Pixel Buds, Galaxy Buds, etc... to your Nest Displays and Speakers, See who's at the front door on your AndroidTV using a Nest doorbell.
I know it's kind of hard to overlook because people don't really talk about it much on TH-cam, but it's all there.

He doesn't know that for sure because he is under an apple ecosystem while lecturing about android features he doesn't know the whole time. The very reason why I will always choose android over iOS is because of data sharing with computers. I could just simply send my files offline using a cord or wireless (bluetooth or shareit) from my phone to my computer and vice versa. This very convenient stuff has been around for more or less a decade now.

If it was a "best feature that will eventually be copied", you would have been able to use imessage or apple maps on Windows by now. But the fact of the matter is, you can't. I use both. The iPhone SE from 2016 is my banking device and I use a Xperia XZ1 as my actual phone. Customisation is important but to be honest I've used the same Nova Launcher layout over several android phones now, so can understand why people like the simplicity of what Apple offer. If either phone were to die I wouldn't have a great issue using either for the tasks I do on the other, both have their strengths and weaknesses. It's why I use both as I feel that they compliment each other.
Accessory wise I did go with a Samsung smart watch over the Apple Watch. Samsung's offerings simply look better, though not as feature rich, whereas the Apple Watch looks like a miniature iPod strapped to your wrist. There's a reason that the market for iPod Nano watch straps still exists. Plus I can pair the Gear S3 I have with both Android and Apple phones.

@@kylegossett1360 I agree with you. If Apple decides to reduce the price of their new phones like iPhone 13 etc. They would sell like hot cakes and Apple would double it's profit. In some countries like India people are paying through their nose to buy an iPhone. And the worst part is that there's a huge price difference that is 40,000 rupees between iPhone 13 and the pro model. Surprisingly, This price difference isn't that much in countries like the USA, England etc. Despite the fact Apple has started to manufacture these phones in India. 😔

As for droid I have an Nvidia Shield, which does everything I need from gaming (the perfect streaming console) to everyday use. It’s time to switch to Android for a phone. My iPad handles all my drawing apps (Nomad, Forger, Procreate) so the phone will do what it needs to do…be a phone. I don’t need the high end ones, just one that gets the job done. Good vid. I have both, the latest Samsung Galaxy phone and and a fairly recent model iPhone (Samsung for personal use and iPhone for work use). The camera on my Android is by far superior, and when it comes to customization Android wins hands down. The biggest issue I find with Android is it doesn't always play well with iPhone (that is, the rest of my family is on iPhone and group messages don't come across or are delayed, images and vids get compressed, etc...) and many of the Playstore apps seem buggy. I can have an issue with an app on Android and pull up the same app (with the same account logged in) on my iPhone and it always works fine. It seems the "world," at least here in the US, is tailored for iPhone first, and then everything else. I just may go to iPhone for personal use the next go-round.

I have my XS Max and my S20+
Both work very similarly and tbh, after a while you stop caring which one is better or worst. At this point, I could run only one platform without caring. Either you have an iCloud or a Gmail account as primary, in both phones you can have all your data synced. The rest is the less.

My main concern is privacy. I have had iPhones since the 4, and then tried the Galaxy S7. I went back to iPhone and have been eyeing Samsung S21. I don't know how secure their privacy and security is. What are your thoughts, Chris? I don't customize my phone. My family and friends all have iPhones, and I have heard that texting is an issue between the two.

Stick to iPhone as your main and try to get Samsung midrange phones as your secondary phone. I would recommend the A52 5G or the regular A72.
That way you'd be happy using both operating system, heck if you live in the US you can get the Google Pixel 5a for clean experience.

@@shortyg1018 factually it’s true. It’s very rare to get viruses and malware on a iPhone unlike android phones. And with Apple offering better privacy over than Google’s capitalistic monitorization, it’s safe to say Apple provides better privacy.

@@t-dog1230 Depends. Generaly speaking most security experts have agreed Android and iOS are pretty close to being equal in vulnerabilities. iOS is harder to exploit but also harder to secure where as Android can be customized to be extremely secure it just depends on the user and how they set up their device. Remember when all those celebrity personal images were leaked? That's wasn't Android.

Image being able to fold the iPad mini 6 in half so that it can fit in your pocket, and you would be able to make phone calls with it so you wouldn't need a second device (iPhone). It would change the fundamental smartphone experience for you. This is what the Fold 3 does.
Everything you mentioned about how Apple products work together, Samsung / Google / Microsoft can work together the same way. The OOBE is defiantly better with Apple, though.

And I watch people around me still rocking their Iphones 7-8 that don't have those problems. So in the end, I don't want to change phone each year I want it to last and be able to sell it in few years which I never can with my android even if it's only one year old. That's why I ordered new Iphone, I just has bad luck with the chip shortage and have to wait till January until it arrives. 😁

Both systems are great and have things that might be more important to some people which will help you pick your preference. For the average person, iOS is the least stressful and easiest to use. I prefer iOS now after years of Android. If iOS adds an Always On Display and Split Screen Multitasking it will be perfect for me. Also TH-cam Vanced! But I doubt that’ll happen lol

Hi Brett, i disagree on your point. An average person is not more stress with Android than iOS. It's only habits.
I have habits using Always On Display ( and don't understand my friends/collegues who use Iphone and say Always On is useless ), i prefer the way go back on page with Android, Split Screen ( i often use TH-cam + Chrome or TH-cam + Whatsapp and it's really useful. Also having Dual App to use a Personnal and a Professionnal/Personnal Projet account on Facebook or other app is really useful and easy to use.
I don't have all this features on my 13 Pro and i miss them a lot.
iOS is good but Android is also really good : they both do the job of a smartphone
