  • In this video, we show you how easy it is to install the FMF 4.1 RCT slip-on silencer on a 2017 KTM 500EXC-F. We also show you how much weight is saved with this titanium silencer over the stock exhaust.

    The installation of the FMF 4.1 RCT on the KTM 500EXC is very easy, takes less than 15 minutes and just requires the following tools:
    -8MM Socket and extension
    -Spring puller
    -Flathead screwdriver
    -Extendable magnet
    -HiTemp RTV silicone
    The second half of the video does a sound test comparison between the stock exhaust, an open header (which we do not recommend -- just for fun), the 4.1 RCT without the quiet insert/spark arrestor, and with the quiet insert installed.

    with the spark arrestor in, it almost sounds a little more like a "purr" than a bark, very cool!

    Helpful vid but needs time markers for the sound tests. So here they are:
    3:34 Stock Pipe
    4:03 Open header
    4:18 FMF 4.1 RCT without quiet/spark arrestor
    4:49 FMF 4.1 RCT with quiet/spark arrestor
    Do you know how many decibles that puts out with the FMF? Here in Ontario, organized rides use a sound checker before allowing riders to participate. I believe it's 95db or there abouts. If if goes beyond, we can't participate. Thanks again.

      Thanks! At the last race I did with the full pass through spark arrestor i think it came out around 95.5 DB and the limit was 96. I actually mostly run the quiet insert is definitely much quieter because I’m trying to be nicer to my ears. Cheers

    Sounds great thanks for sharing. I have the 2016 ktm 500 exc and have been wanting a new exhaust, love the sound of yours but what other fmf that's legal to ride anywhere and have the same throaty sound is there?

    • @SourceADV
      @SourceADV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most aftermarket exhaust modifications on bikes like these are not legal anywhere for highway use. Sorry to be a downer, but that's how it goes. For OHV use you have to have a spark arrestor on the bike. If losing the extra pound is not a big deal, there are higher flowing end caps that still have spark arrestors for the stock muffler. BestDualSportBikes.com makes one called the "STE-2 End Cap" and Fastway makes a spark arrestor end cap that you can get on their website or from RockyMountainaATV/MC.
      The thing is, with these higher flowing options, you still should find some way to get the bike more fuel either through a JD Fuel Tuner, BestDual Sport Bikes Fuel Tuner, Vortex ECU, or ATHENA/GET ECU. We will be putting up a video in the next couple days on the JD Fuel tuner install and programming.
      Let us know if you have any more questions. Sorry if that answer was more complex than you wanted. Happy Trails!

      @@SourceADV you downer you! Jk, yes I've seen his end caps and thinking on pulling the trigger on one but not to sure yet, I'm really loving the pipe you have. I've been doing alot of research and think I can get away by feeding it more fuel just by adjusting the TPS. Bestdualsports also has the volt meter for that, I really dont want to add any extra electronics that can have an issue down the road ya know 🤷‍♂️. I definitely will be looking for your next video on the JD tuner.

    • @SourceADV

    Did you notice any power improvement? Just curious if worth the 500-600 Canadian for the slip on

    • @SourceADV
      @SourceADV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The power improvement comes from the combo of the slip on and changing the ECU. Current bike has an FMF and a GET Ecu, it is an entirely different bike (in a good way)
