I felt this on a deeply personal level 🤣. I’m on day 2 and finally learned how to special cancel. If only my brain didn’t blank during actual matches causing me to go 2-26 LOL. Day 3 is brighter 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
Lol, same. I managed to somewhat learn how to perform decently with most other characters but it feels like my brain turns off when i play Juri and i get demolished
As a MK player, modern is pretty natural to pick up and play, it's gotten me into the game alot faster. I'm fine with a stick, but modern for now is doing me good.
@TheChocolateDrop2 dude literally. I rarely find any classic users online in sf6 and half the time they always win because they're playing on easy mode. I wish there was a filter where u can only face your own control method
Juri has about the most flexible set of modern controls I've ever tried. Problem is...90% of the other roster does not have the access she does in modern. Which sucks. Manon is missing full on input specials. If they followed the same approach to Juri with the rest of the roster modern controls would be so much better.
@@d.ink3d Well considering how old this comment is and the growth of skill over time. I gotta say, of the characters available. The most viable moderns are as follows. Luke. Ken. Kimberly. JP. Deejay. Ryu. Honda. Guile. Lily. Blanka.(to a degree) Rashid. Chun Li-Missing too much. Even on manual input. Cammy- loses actual control of her normals because they set it up to detect range on her assist button. Dhalsim- Don't even think about modern... So like...eh 65% of the roster is viable under modern. Meaning you can learn and kind of do things at the same pace as a classic player. And honestly, some of these issues could be fixed by simply throwing in assist button arials to throw out different normals AKA Kim jump+Heavy=Heavy kick. Kim Jump+Heavy+assist=Heavy punch. And for people saying modern is a transition to classic....it really isn't. All you gain from the transfer are knowing what moves go where. Your execution and button placement, and muscle memory have to start over from scratch. So technically you've carried over as much as someone who watches combo videos on youtube all day....
I've played alot of guilty gear and mk with some tekken experience too. Modern controls making this a 3 button game instead of a 6 button game on pad is lovely. It allows me to map my buttons so that muscle memory from other games is able to help smooth the transition to sf6
Same. Played Strive for a while and having a button for each finger at right hand feels more natural to me than moving your hand up and down between punches and kicks.
The NUMBER 1 THING Modern controls really solves, is creating a standardized set of controls. It eliminates a lot of the more crazy motion inputs, but still keeps some of the more basic ones and allows for levels of input, like Luke's Flash Fist. In classic depending on one character, you might be doing quarter Circles all day, while another might have more Z input reliant combos, or half circle inputs. Modern narrows all that into a more standard format of inputs, which makes characters really easy to pick up. I've never played a wider variety of characters before in any fighting game before, as it just took so long for me to just figure out the basic of ONE character. I'm more excited than ever to try out every one in the game and really try out the new ones. Although I really don't see me picking up classic anytime soon.
The only reason why i use modern instead of classic is because i can't for the life of me do a move where it does something like down -> downleft/downright -> left/right on the joystick. The moves come out inconsistently. sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't
@@crispybacon1029 That’s because you’re not supposed to be using a joystick lol. Your inputs will be MUCH more consistent if you use the d pad. It’ll take a bit of getting used to at first, but pretty much everyone uses d pad for a reason.
Im a modern gamer (cuz SF combo system is awkward as a Tekken player). I also use an arcade stick and think Modern feels fine with face buttons. Muscle memory from classic will really screw with trying out Modern though. I just wish that we can press R1+R2 for DI. Modern forces to map DI and parry to different buttons
BRO THANK GOD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. As a Tekken player I've never been more confused than trying to understand this game, the combo system is weird, the motion input timing is different, and i just dont understand even the most basic gameplans lol
Something that has helped me a lot (as a former tekken player) is that the beat of the inputs is slightly different, if that makes sense, cancelling a normal jnto a special is more of a double beat, if you want to do a special after a special its single beats. If you go by a normal beat: dun dun dun dun dun. In tekken, chaining a special out of a normal vould be more like a dudun input wise, i hope that sorta makes sense
Glad to find another Tekken player haha, I always struggle to get into SF, but trying modern control with Juri actually giving me so much fun in SF6. It is still not easy to learn but I think modern control are good for beginner and player from other FG to get the feel of the character and eventually making their way to the Classic control.
Some characters like juri/ryu have motion input for combos in combo trials due to lack of access for modern, but some characters don't have any like marisa/luke/lily. I treat it as just character difficulty on whether you need to do motion input or not. if a player don't want motion input at all (like myself just to start learning the game), just like some players who refuse to play charge characters, they have the option to play other characters who requires 0 motion input at all. Glad to see a classic player giving modern control a try though! This is refreshing to see as a complete beginner who is using modern control. Hope we will see more modern control content soon for us beginners/modern control players.
as an anime fighting games player, i don't have problems at all with motion inputs, but i play Modern instead of classic because the classic layout has TOO MUCH single independent buttons for my tiny brain (mental stack by my own character), and because doing mP+mK (or hP+hK) with face buttons (arcade) its weird and anti natural to my hands, binding DI and DP to the L1 and L2 face buttons its also very weird to me, mi pinky is not trained to be the response to a 26 frames move at all, so i play modern to fight with 3 buttons, L,M and H, like 99% of anime fighters, and i completely ignore the SP button (u can do motion inputs to get the 3 versions of you special, AND avoid the damage penalty) and i also use the AUTO button some times in the middle of some combos to get access to specific normals, at the end of the day my only problems with the game are knolege related, mach ups, and some weird SF rules that i have to implement in my gameplay, but not "wich button is that again?" in the middle of a match
I play mostly with a Ps5 controler and am a Juri main who sometimes play a OK Guile. I was able to get to the round of 64 on a pretty big tournament here in Brazil
"Is this what classic is like for you guys?" Yep. After 15 years of Smash (plus a few short stints in other fighting games like Injustice, Soul Cal & Fantasy Strike), I want to get straight to the good stuff - the footsies, the resource management, the rock-paper-scissors, etc. And the alien-ness of the control gets in the way. Modern helps, but to be honest, sf6's modern controls could still be made a lot more "modern" than they currently are. They still feel like an alien trying to get me to speak their language, rather than an alien trying to speak my language, if that makes sense. For example, why am I missing Juri's stand medium kick, when there's so many inputs that are still left unused? It could easily be mapped to back+medium, but it's not, because direction+input is reserved for unique attacks, and stand medium kick is not a unique attack, it's a normal, and those are two completely different things because those have been two completely different things for the past 30 years. When things are justified because "that's how we've always done things", can we really call it a "modern" input scheme? And that's just one example, but there's a *lot* more where that came from. I want a control scheme that makes sense, not a control scheme that asks me to make sense of it. And right now, neither classic nor modern really delivers imo
My answer is yes. The fighting games I usually play are street fighter, Tekken, mortal kombat and injustice. Modern controls are very similar to the way mortal kombat and injustice plays. Grabs being one button, one button for light, medium and heavy attacks, 1 button for specials, etc. I don't think it matters what control scheme you use because if your reaction time, reads and input speed is off then you'll lose anyway. I've never been good with charge characters but with modern controls I can finally have some fun with the likes of blanka or guile. But I still use classic for my main non-charge characters like ryu or Kimberly. Just choose whatever controls you want and if the classic control players get salty then they were never really that good
I came here because I was curious about how modern control combos worked, and I came out knowing how to finally beat the hecking Advanced 1 trial that stumped me.
i am a complete sf noob so i use modern cuz i hate the 6 button inputs, ive played other fighting games so motion inputs dont scare me but uhhh i didnt realize i was missing an entire move in her kit by using modern
Never play fighting game before, pick sf6 becauss the game is beautiful and also juri makes me interested and i main her now, i use modern control because much easier and quick to learn and not much button to press, but im willing to use classic control, should I continue to getting good at modern control or try to classic control to play juri, please I need your advice.
Play what you want. I low key think this game was made with modern controls in mind so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Hell some pros are using modern as well
Thanks for this video, everything looks a lot daunting to me because I don't play fighting games and SF6 is my first one. Seeing you struggle makes me not worry about myself struggling
Her most important combo involves motion input and is not mentioned in the trials. auto+H -> 214H -> 6S Not that difficult, but you cannot completely by pass motion inputs even with modern.
See, I’ve never actually played the SF games lmao so here I’ve been thinking that “modern” controls would convert it to inputs more similar to the guilty gear strive inputs but then I find out that the classic controls are basically the same as strives inputs already. I’m glad I didn’t get the game already and go straight to modern and end up being disappointed and then having a hard time fighting my muscle memory(though I do wish I had the game already in general :/ it looks SO good)
Ngl it’s been a little frustrating as a new player (celestial in strive but new to street fighter) to get shit on by people using Modern controls in ranked mode. I’m using classic because the most rewarding part of fighting games for me is putting in the time to actually practice and learn a character’s move set. When I come across a player and all they have to do is mash one button to do a reversal super in the middle of my block string it kinda just sucks a lot lol
I use modern cuz I'm on PS5 controller, its impossible to do the classic input SA consistently by dpad, literally the only easy thing on modern control is SA. It still takes same amount of skills to be good at combos.
Overall im new to the street fighter series but one thing I would like to say is that I feel like each differnet control scheme caters to different characters. From my personal experience learning Marisa on classic controls was easy because the way her character works is easy. Someone like juri who is more complex im currently learning on modern because imo she has too many buttons for me to execute and im just not that fast on controller. I also tried Marisa on modern but it didn't feel right and i was confusing myself
I would love to play morden cause of dp. As a new player 90 percent of the time i just csnt get the dp to come out. So i lose 70 percent of the time to jumpers
You're correct, but some moves aren't available with some characters. Ryu cant do motion Tatsumaki or high blade kick. Juri is really optimized well for Modern I think.
@@BigNastyKail some characters are reeally auto combo friendly. kimberly, marisa have been the top 2 for ease of use in modern. my problem with modern, i was told it does less damage but i can still do half a bar with marisa and her auto combo with a few non autos. the combo trials showcase it very openly. this is a great video.
6:30 It's harder than that, since the input is 100% consistent with Medium, it's a combination of trying to chain things and also ever so slightly screwing up the input sometimes making the learning process super rough.
I do feel that modern controls were meant for controller players like he is saying in the video. Just that way that someone's hand sit on the controller make them benefit from the auto button a lot more than on a fight stick. However, that is just my opinion because I use a controller on modern controls and my friend uses a fight stick on classic controls.
With that said, Modern is definitely doable with stick. I'm getting used to it and I think you probably could adjust he buttons to be more comfortable. Like to do ex moves I have to hit mp + hk...thats just weird. I should move it to be mp + hp
@@BigNastyKail Oh I completely agree. I really enjoy the freedom of play this game provides for both new and old players. I have never played a street fighter game before this but always wanted to. The addition of the new control style has been letting me get into it more than I ever could. However I will say, I am just very glad that they did not allow dynamic controls online. That control scheme is cra cra.
I disagree actually. This is just me having a skill issue most likely but I can't stand how easy modern is. I much rather have the challenge of learning classic. Modern is just pressing 2 buttons and you do a whole combo
@@tacomania7954lmao modern is not that easy where you press 2 buttons and do whole combos. I can see you have a skill issue. Hop in the combo trials and do every last combo up to advanced and see how easy modern is.
I just want to use modern controls, because I don't have a controller. Using the ASDASDASDASDA + attack binds hurt my left wrist so much after just 30 minutes, even if I'd like to learn them. So I just do modern controls.
I use a hitbox, which is similar to keyboard. I find its a lot better on my wrist than using a stick and hitting forward+forward all day. Still, if you wanna learn classic you can do it!
I've played Street Fighter since I was a boy on the Super Nintendo. But I have to say, I've stuck with modern since release. I main Guile and still do the special inputs for L,M,H attacks. But now I'm the odd one out with my friends since they're all classics.
I think Modern make her weaker. Her Lv2 feng shui engine opens a lot of options that modern just wont make up for. ITs also hard for a classic player to switch to modern as we learn the 6 button and manual input that gives us the need to do that even if we are in modern. So you catch yourself doing things that you cant do in modern.
No one is talking about combo difficulty when they say modern is "easy mode", they're talking about the fact that in neutral special moves are objectively faster than they are on classic since you don't need to do the input, meaning a modern player can punish something with DP or super on reaction faster than a classic player ever could.
Dude, when I went into training tool day 1 I legit thought of advance combo 1 in my mind after looking at Juri's moves and trying them out except ended it with the spinning move special (sorry I'm new to Street Fighter and fighting games so don't know what its called). I trained that combo for about 30 minutes thinking I was so smart for coming up with it. THIS GAME IS SO AWESOME!!
You can call the spin kick, pinwheel. You can really call different moves simple names and most of us vets will get it. You dont need to the perfect names of all the moves I mean hell I still call ryus jodan sokutou geri (his straight kick that wall bounces) donkey kick and shoryus are just dp and hados are just fireball.
This was really interesting to see, the last SF game I played was Alpha 3 and back then I had no concept of proper combos, I picked up SF6 on launch and im struggling with timings on classic even on the basic things like a stMP into QCF MP, modern seems to be a little more lenient in the way it changes thing up yet still precise enough that it may help switching with into classic after getting the fundementals down and knowing what moves Combo/link and cancel into each other.
I've just picked up SF6 (I've played MK heavily for years) and I can't use modern either. The lay out of modern is too weird, yes classic has a 6 button layout but at least the 4 facing buttons on Dpad are the same as what I know (punch, punch, kick, kick) Classic controls have been tough to learn in places but I can't imagine not having a D1 (what SF calls a crouching light punch)
Ya this fucks you up on a stick, it’s not bad on a pad, very intuitive. So I would play modern on the pad, classic with a stick. Still an issue using the auto button. It’s not hard on a pad, but using the auto button on a stick is a little weird. I feel like I need an extra finger.
I like fight sticks, I’m glad two out of my three work, sadly the custom one I made to work on both Xbox and ps4 doesn’t work on ps5. I like inputs for specials, just a preference.
I decided to play SF6 because I saw JP, and thought his aesthetic and his moves look WAY TOO COOL for me to not play. I don't even play fighting games. When I learned that Modern Controls were going to be a thing, I was happy, because I knew that Project L (based on League, which I play) was going to have a similar control setup, so I can play this game in practice for that. Then before release I was so worried that JP would not be playable on Modern controls because of the number of special moves he has and the amount of crazy things you can do, but ... I think he was designed with Modern in mind. It feels genuinely smooth to play JP on Modern. Unfortunately it leads to a lot of 1-and-dones in Ranked XD
i really liked the video since im very new to streetfighter in general, have only played dbz fighter, main problem i have is driverush combos i cant seem to figure it out, im playing on modern controls, i cant do these instant drive rushes
They recently changed the way drive rush cancels work. Instead of doing button > Forward Forward, you can do button > parry. That should help a lot. If you're trying to do drive rush outside of combos instantly try this command. Instead of Hold Parry > forward forward, do forward > parry + forward. Instead of 3 steps, make it 2 that overlap each other.
I wanted to give Modern an honest try, but I won't lie, it was so foreign to me in trials that I had to think about every move instead of just going to classic inputs for basic moves. Like you said, using auto+heavy was so weird for me I would just forget what I was trying to to do
I am new to fighting games mostly. Like I've casually played mortal kombat (old games) and I played street fighter two, but...I absolutely can't do classic inputs. I had a friend try to show me how "easy" it is and I would maybe successfully put in a move 1 out of every 8 attempts. For me modern at least lets me do things and it seems that its not as good; Frankly, I can live with that, at least now I can do what I'm attempting like 2/3 times instead of that 1/8
From getting back into street fighter and playing a lot of SF6. Modern controls is definitely built for controller players getting into SF6. Classic is more for stick players or controller players who rearrange their button layout.
The combo trials help show that using Modern Controls doesn't necessarily lock you into repetitive gameplay. There is still plenty of combo variety, enough for the limited FG brain of a casual like me.
I feel like modern was made to make controller easier. Its way easier to swing a joystick around and have a dedicated six buttons on a arcade stick/hitbox than on controller
I think the real question is does modern controls take away key normals from any characters. If so what characters. I am down playing with modern controls to eliminating missing a command. However as someone that has played Cammy and Juri since their inceptions I am so used to everything that they have. I will say I could never do instant air moves and modern makes them trivial.
What i have noticed playing against modern juris is that they use dp much more, and by extension ex moves much more than i do, they also dont really seem to drive rush that much, it does switch up the playstyle a lot.
A lot of newer juris on classic don't use pinwheel. A lot of juris in 5 never used it for combos at all or in general. Might be because it can get stuffed out of with a light or whenever newer players do it they tended to just throw it out and get eaten up by counter damage. It's just a newer juri player thing in general. Pinwheel was always my favorite alongwith the counter dash but that's gone so pinwheel combos all day
I have the exact same issue. I find the modern controls really awkward to use due to needing to hold a button to access some normals. I end up finding classic easier.
i always love juri since sf4 but i was not a good player cuz of those classic input....i got back into this game cuz of modern controls and loving it so far..im just browsing thru juri content looking for easy to pull off combos that are effective to use haha...i could not get back to using classic anymore
you use pad + and want a slightly lower cognitive load for jump ins and reacting to things with supers? Modern. Combos for optimal punishes still need practice tho soz
For me when I play Juri on modern controls I feel like I have less or worse access to my normals but I have better access to my specials and supers, and for classic controls it's vice versa. But most of what I use in a match are normals and it's not like I can't hit the special inputs when I need too so I just go for classic.
Having to essentially hold down a "shift" button in modern is just so bizarre to me. Classic is tricky to get used to, but once you do you're rewarded with greater flexibility, and the satisfaction of doing it all manually.
i use a controller on xbox trying to use classic is tough when you have to use the trigger buttons for attack so modern works for me, i don't use stick and will not ever use stick, a classic controller was all i used through out my life i am a middle age now so no point switching to stick now
I like classic but I think I need to buy a better controller. My ps5 controller never reads my directional inputs. Either that or I just suck. It is my first street fighter game😂
What about beginner 7 ? i'm on modern can't do it, i mean i can, but it's like never fast enought for validate the step... must be a tricks... if someone can help. on this video he just did not do this one
Great video! I personally really like to use modern with jury and i am rocking in ranked. She’s my main But she is the only character I use modern with.
I have been trying more and more to practice, I know you can't give a lot of advice to modern players, but can you tell me the modern combos that you saw in the combo trial that were important to master? It feels like there is only one guide for juri modern control combos, and it mostly uses combo trials as a basis for the combos. It feels like the combo trials are all I have to learn how to learn them. Also someone said "learn fundamentals" how do I train them? I've mostly been practicing how to do raw DR into combos during combo trial and playing the arcade mode to practice playing them in a "live" setting, but do you have any recommendations on training?
I've been exclusively playing modern with Juri using some manual inputs when needed for combos and its really fucking fun. The only thing in her kit that feels like garbage is the level 2 buff. It can be used if your good at the lower amount of inputs being used to the fullest but I'm not there yet. Everything else can work just like normal. The thing I do to mitigate missing out on the level 2 is simply not holding onto meter and burn it on the level 1. Raw input the level 1 on a simple combo to get full damage and everything will be fine.
I'm coming in to SF6 with the majority of my background in DBFZ. Modern is a godsend. Having my pad set up like I would in Dragon Ball makes so much more sense to me. I've got quarter circles down easy but DP motions are rough for my fingers. My biggest gain from the new controls? Mental stack is cleared up. I can react to things a lot easier without having to worry on if I'm going to flub an input. As far as holding a button for different moves goes, I just see it as a sort of modifier. You need to hold the aim button in an FPS game, right? How is holding a button to get various attacks to come out any different? It's all on how you approach things. Took a few hours to get used to the idea but it clicks pretty quickly.
Same my Boi. I switched too classic not too long ago and managed too instantly raise my Chun Li to Diamond. Playing Modern since the demo up until the full release definitely helped fundamentally. Tho I’m an analog player not pad so I couldn’t relate too the pad pain 😭
Any game with auto combos has always felt like button mashing to me. Like even in the day watching friends play BB with stylish, always has. I've been playing through World Tour with Modern, and my thoughts haven't changed. I still feel like i'm hoping to get the combo I want to come out. Tho maybe I just need to do the trials.
your having problem because modern is very much set up for a Dpad controller its not as hard using one but with a stick your pretty much dropping a window on her meat hooks lmao
Modern makes it very easy for newer players to get into the game but i think it hurts in the long run if youre planning to play a different fighting game later on. Almost every single other fighter uses the classic 6 button layout. Im relativly new to fighitng games and modern felt amazing, but i chose to switch to classic to make sure i aint fukin myself over later.
Well of course modern controls are gonna be weird on an arcade stick lol Arcade stick is literally designed to emulate an arcade cabinet that classic controls are based on, its not made for consoles to begin with, seems like you're setting yourself up for disappointment from the get go when comparing the two.
Yeah modern controls are tuned for a gamepad. I normally play classic on a stick, but for world tour I've had so much fun sitting back with a pad and modern controls to just easily play through the fights and quickly learn new styles.
My advice is if you're new to the franchise, fighting games, or having difficulty using classic, start with modern, and learn what you can. Then switch to classic and see if you can replicate all the things you were doing with modern. Once you get a little comfortable with that, switch back to modern and you'll notice a world of difference in how you approach combo's. Once you start to master modern, then you make the last and final switch to Classic, which Ill be doing soon. As good as modern is, you do end up becoming limited in your gameplay and lack the complete package of skills and techniques your character has. Though this does depend on the character. Some characters are better in modern since they lose very little from Classic, while others are severely punished.
the question i have is "can i get good with Juri at all?"
Right?! Though my question is can I get good at SF6 at all.
I felt this on a deeply personal level 🤣. I’m on day 2 and finally learned how to special cancel. If only my brain didn’t blank during actual matches causing me to go 2-26 LOL. Day 3 is brighter 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀

Seeing a player used to classic struggle with modern controls was kind of wholesome :) nice vid and thanks for giving it a chance!
I had to cut so much from the video but some of those trials had me STUMPED!
THANK YOU ive been waiting for this video
You wouldn't believe how often I get asked this question, so I know people wanted to see this!
Juri looking really good in those Capcom colours. Blue and yellow looks great on her.
I agree witcha!
i asked this yesterday stream and you showed me for like 20 minutes, W man tbh
as an anime fighting games player, i don't have problems at all with motion inputs, but i play Modern instead of classic because the classic layout has TOO MUCH single independent buttons for my tiny brain (mental stack by my own character), and because doing mP+mK (or hP+hK) with face buttons (arcade) its weird and anti natural to my hands, binding DI and DP to the L1 and L2 face buttons its also very weird to me, mi pinky is not trained to be the response to a 26 frames move at all, so i play modern to fight with 3 buttons, L,M and H, like 99% of anime fighters, and i completely ignore the SP button (u can do motion inputs to get the 3 versions of you special, AND avoid the damage penalty) and i also use the AUTO button some times in the middle of some combos to get access to specific normals, at the end of the day my only problems with the game are knolege related, mach ups, and some weird SF rules that i have to implement in my gameplay, but not "wich button is that again?" in the middle of a match
Also: instant supers is very powerful in some situations...
4:40 someone respond how do you link/chain auto heavy and auto medium that's getting me every time
I play mostly with a Ps5 controler and am a Juri main who sometimes play a OK Guile.
And right now, neither classic nor modern really delivers imo
you’re helping unbelievably thank you
No problem! I hope the content I put out remains to be helpful!
modern feels so much better to me as someone who plays MK i normally use D pad instead of stick so doing less diagonal motions is rlly fluid
Then play MK lol
@@mp32298if he wants to play modern on SF he can
My answer is yes.
Just choose whatever controls you want and if the classic control players get salty then they were never really that good
"I can finally have fun...". I think we quickly forget that its a game and we should be having fun, so I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it!
0:16 juri regular dash can go through fireball?
SOME of JP's ghosts.
Hell some pros are using modern as well
you can still manually input all the supers and the specials too except for one
Thanks for this video, everything looks a lot daunting to me because I don't play fighting games and SF6 is my first one. Seeing you struggle makes me not worry about myself struggling
I'm very stuck on the combo trials as a new player I can't seem to get the timing for the moves right and lets not talk about motions xD
This game is hard but man is fun to grind i play classic but Morden is helping my friends and family getting into the game great video!
Yea I really hope people take away the stigma away from the control scheme. Lets just have fun!
Her most important combo involves motion input and is not mentioned in the trials. auto+H -> 214H -> 6S
Not that difficult, but you cannot completely by pass motion inputs even with modern.
It does teach you this, but it uses EX stock kick instead of heavy stock kick.
Spamming Electrics in Tekken definitely helped me get used to classic controls in just 2 days playing this game.
I started with modern controls because my first fighting game was DragonBall FighterZ and my buddy introduced me to SF6
Hows modern going for you with the transition to sf6?
@Big Nasty Kail some inputs are weird and combos are different because there's no heavy punch or kick button
At least we know what you should work on!
the fact that u can turn the classic 6 button layout into 7 with modern controls is crazy
I play on PC with a keyboard and I use 13 buttons, and that is without directional input of WSAD.
Woah! What is that bar above your head?!
That’s the action timer. It’s under the screen settings in the start menu!
you can do input motions on modern or decide if using the special button
You're correct, but some moves aren't available with some characters. Ryu cant do motion Tatsumaki or high blade kick. Juri is really optimized well for Modern I think.
@@BigNastyKail some characters are reeally auto combo friendly. kimberly, marisa have been the top 2 for ease of use in modern.
my problem with modern, i was told it does less damage but i can still do half a bar with marisa and her auto combo with a few non autos. the combo trials showcase it very openly.
this is a great video.
6:30
It's harder than that, since the input is 100% consistent with Medium, it's a combination of trying to chain things and also ever so slightly screwing up the input sometimes making the learning process super rough.
But now I'm the odd one out with my friends since they're all classics.
the main problem with modern is the drop of 20% in damage, but are easier on a controller. I'll try to learn clasic with the keyboard though.
The drop in 20% damage is crazy but thats okay for people trying to get used to the game. Keyboard is fun! I use it often.
on pad its on a trigger as default setting, it does feel good.
As if new players know how to do those fancy combos effectively in matches
No one is talking about combo difficulty when they say modern is "easy mode", they're talking about the fact that in neutral special moves are objectively faster than they are on classic since you don't need to do the input, meaning a modern player can punish something with DP or super on reaction faster than a classic player ever could.
Juri reminds a lot to Angel from K0F with the hair and the fighting style (kick boxing and a lot of leg movement)
Since I've been playing sf6 I have this thing where I see M control on players then I automatically gotta F ppl up
Ever lose to a M controls player?
@@BigNastyKail o yea the way the moves were so simply done with a mere press while I'm normally imputing the combos
You dont need to the perfect names of all the moves I mean hell I still call ryus jodan sokutou geri (his straight kick that wall bounces) donkey kick and shoryus are just dp and hados are just fireball.
i think modern eliminates the less intuitive 6 buttons system for light medium heavy punch/kick and streamlines all of them
This was really interesting to see, the last SF game I played was Alpha 3 and back then I had no concept of proper combos, I picked up SF6 on launch and im struggling with timings on classic even on the basic things like a stMP into QCF MP, modern seems to be a little more lenient in the way it changes thing up yet still precise enough that it may help switching with into classic after getting the fundementals down and knowing what moves Combo/link and cancel into each other.
I gave up fighters for 2d brawlers bc of execution difficulties, so modern definitely tempts me to go back
I've just picked up SF6 (I've played MK heavily for years) and I can't use modern either.
The lay out of modern is too weird, yes classic has a 6 button layout but at least the 4 facing buttons on Dpad are the same as what I know (punch, punch, kick, kick)
Classic controls have been tough to learn in places but I can't imagine not having a D1 (what SF calls a crouching light punch)
I only play classic. Been playing Ken since around '92
I dont look at it like get good with modern then switch to classic. modern is a completely different playstyle with the same character on classic.
Oh totally.
Ya this fucks you up on a stick, it’s not bad on a pad, very intuitive. So I would play modern on the pad, classic with a stick. Still an issue using the auto button. It’s not hard on a pad, but using the auto button on a stick is a little weird. I feel like I need an extra finger.
I play ryu on modern and i rarely ever use his auto combos.
Smart!
Like you said, using auto+heavy was so weird for me I would just forget what I was trying to to do
Its really foreign. But if its something you want to do, do the trials before any session and you'll get it fast!
Classic is more for stick players or controller players who rearrange their button layout.
yeah i use modern cuz i have a ds4 and it's almost impossible inputting 2 or 3 buttons at the same time
The combo trials help show that using Modern Controls doesn't necessarily lock you into repetitive gameplay.
Juri loses her c.mp, her s.lp, and her j.mp. Thats what I know off hand. OH ryu doesn't have Back+hp I think.
can someone tell me if cammy is good enough on modern?
She probably is! I'll check her out!
@@BigNastyKail thanks man, waiting for ur video,xd
I cant play on both its very confusing to me 😭
TFW when a 10hit Juri combo is same damage as 1 zangief command grab
What i have noticed playing against modern juris is that they use dp much more, and by extension ex moves much more than i do, they also dont really seem to drive rush that much, it does switch up the playstyle a lot.
Most new players dont drive rush enough tbh, so I think theres a correlation between the two.
Pinwheel was always my favorite alongwith the counter dash but that's gone so pinwheel combos all day
Juris dp is great but if you make a bad read it opens you up for punish damage.
I thought modern controls were ment for controller players because some of the classic combos ar really difficult on controller (atleast for me)
Maybe. I think Haitani is playing in evo on modern on arcade stick
@@BigNastyKail yeah that might be why he had a little trouble at the start
Nah haitani the goat.
I have the exact same issue. I find the modern controls really awkward to use due to needing to hold a button to access some normals. I end up finding classic easier.
Since I'm on stick, I started pressing both buttons together, and that helped!
i always love juri since sf4 but i was not a good player cuz of those classic input....i got back into this game cuz of modern controls and loving it so far..im just browsing thru juri content looking for easy to pull off combos that are effective to use haha...i could not get back to using classic anymore
Relatable man. Been playing since the og street fighter 4 days (just causal stuff lmao) moderns a life saver
you use pad + and want a slightly lower cognitive load for jump ins and reacting to things with supers? Modern. Combos for optimal punishes still need practice tho soz
Day 4, we're all still learning. We'll see how it goes in a few weeks!
Can i play with modern control online?
Laughs/cries in keyboard
Keyboard is dope!
Classic is tricky to get used to, but once you do you're rewarded with greater flexibility, and the satisfaction of doing it all manually.
cool video! thanks!!
i use a controller on xbox trying to use classic is tough when you have to use the trigger buttons for attack so modern works for me, i don't use stick and will not ever use stick, a classic controller was all i used through out my life i am a middle age now so no point switching to stick now
I like classic but I think I need to buy a better controller. My ps5 controller never reads my directional inputs. Either that or I just suck. It is my first street fighter game😂
Respectfully: It's either your inputting the input wrong or the controller is broke rofl. You're not allowed to say you suck, its day 4 of the game!
Pretty sure ps5 pads are notorious for having a bad Dpad for fighting games compared to the PS4, which is so good even pros use it.
What about beginner 7 ? i'm on modern can't do it, i mean i can, but it's like never fast enought for validate the step... must be a tricks... if someone can help. on this video he just did not do this one
Great video!
I personally really like to use modern with jury and i am rocking in ranked.
She’s my main
But she is the only character I use modern with.
I just can't figure out any block strings on modern just sticking to L or throw for now
I'm coming in to SF6 with the majority of my background in DBFZ.
I im a master useing juri modenr contorls i tride classic a culdent
me also master use jmodern juri. is easy mode to be quiet hones, no cross cut.;; but me wish easy dp is m no h
The true question is: Should i play Juriwhith both hands?
Yes!!!
Yea idk I’m not hitting the buttons fast enough
Modern was created with Pad in mind so it shouldn't make sense on Stick i think.
your having problem because modern is very much set up for a Dpad controller its not as hard using one but with a stick your pretty much dropping a window on her meat hooks lmao
Thanks

What at 340?
Modern makes it very easy for newer players to get into the game but i think it hurts in the long run if youre planning to play a different fighting game later on. Almost every single other fighter uses the classic 6 button layout.
Im relativly new to fighitng games and modern felt amazing, but i chose to switch to classic to make sure i aint fukin myself over later.
I think its going to be person to person, they're gonna have to learn and its gonna be hard no matter what scheme you choose.
Well of course modern controls are gonna be weird on an arcade stick lol
Arcade stick is literally designed to emulate an arcade cabinet that classic controls are based on, its not made for consoles to begin with, seems like you're setting yourself up for disappointment from the get go when comparing the two.
Like to welcome you to the religion of juri han :D
Modern Controls = MC = 33.
Classic Controls = CC = 33
If you can’t use classic stop playing fighters. Street fighter inputs aren’t that hard. I can see if it was tekken it’s the most basic notations
Yeah modern controls are tuned for a gamepad. I normally play classic on a stick, but for world tour I've had so much fun sitting back with a pad and modern controls to just easily play through the fights and quickly learn new styles.
I prefer classic but the ps5 controller suck for it
It can be done! I know a lot of Pad playing Juris!
