The Thunder Cloud may just be the single worst item in the entire Mario Kart franchise, and it is one of Nintendo's worst ideas they've ever come up with. While getting a speed boost seems like a good thing, it's what happens once the time limit runs out that makes this item so bad. After a few seconds, the Thunder Cloud will strike, causing the player with the item to shrink. Yes, you heard me correctly, this item harms the user. Now yes, you can get rid of it by bumping into another player, but that's easier said than done. I'm glad it hasn't returned in any future installment. This item wouldn't really work with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's double item gimmick, so I think we're safe from this ever coming back.
