This is very accurate, I was playing Fell Seal and got stuck for a literal hour trying to do something which had a 50% chance. I then proceeded to miss 4 70% chances in a row not long after.
It doesn't help that people are just bad at estimating chance to begin with--over-estimating the effect of high chances and underestimating the likelihood of low chances. And then the Gambler's Fallacy kicks in--the belief that if you get an unlikely losing streak, you'll be more likely to get something that breaks the streak. After all, after flipping tails 8 times in a row, what are the odds of a 9th tails? (50%, because it's a coinflip. Reality does not care what your win/loss streak looks like.) You can mitigate this as a game designer with a bunch of different technique, most of which revolve around silently tweaking the dice rolls behind the scenes to make the results feel more fair. For example, some of the more recent Fire Emblem games silently roll to-hit twice on each attack, picking the more favorable result. A lot of games these days adjust the chance of success each time a roll fails, to match what players expect from a 'fair' roll. You could also eschew randomness entirely for some mechanics, like how Fallout 4's VATS lets you do a critical hit when a meter is filled up instead of it being random.
@@TehNoobiness I sometimes wonder if devs tweaking things in peoples favour actually makes people worse at understandings odds lol. People always talk about how the rng in the xcom franchise is awful, that the game is lying, that a 99% chance to hit is more like a 50% chance to hit. And they're right, the game does lie... It lies in your favour, the odds to hit is always *at minimum* what the game will tell you, but when playing on lower difficulties, the game will do things like give bonuses to hit for each miss the player gets, along with a constant flat bonus to hit on the very low difficulty settings. So a franchise that is *notorious* for having odds that people think are much worse than what the game says, in reality, is actually lying to the player by giving them *better* odds than what it says.

Mrs. Mows has one of the two partner attacks which can pierce defence, unless you count Gale Force. I know, She’ll Slam does much more damage to all enemies while Gale Force has a chance to instakill enemies, but both of those require a lot of fp, unlike Love Slap which need no fp, so if an enemy has high defence, you can use Love Slap as much as you need. 2.
