Hi! I’ve been binge watching your videos in the past few days, and I’ve discovered several gems. Thank you! I fell down the rabbit hole of BGG only about a year ago, so there is a lot to discover, and I’m very much interested in the entire history of the hobby, not just the latest hot releases. I’ve found your videos really informative, and luckily many of the games that you have featured are available to play online, so I can jump right in :) For example I had a great time with Saint Petersburg and the Rose King last night.
Glad you like those games! They're two of my favourites. It's a little scary to contemplate what was contemporaneous or recent history for me might now be ancient history for others. 🙂
Board Gems 🤣🤣for me the peace is ok also because I am not English mother language. And also because a lot of you tubers are so fast in their way of specking that is difficult to focus
Ah, yeah, there's a lot of pressure to have a fast pace and keep viewers from getting bored and watching something else! But that's not the best way to teach a game, in my experience. By the way, a lot of these early videos have good English subtitles, which is something that's important to me. However it was by far the most time-consuming part of the video creation process, so I had to give it up after a while. :(
I really enjoy playing games like this, especially with my granddaughter (who is 7, and able to play "thinking games" like this). Thank you. I will definitely add this one to my collection.
Great, hope you two like it! If you don't mind picking up used/foreign copies, I'd definitely go for an older edition with wooden pieces. The English edition uses cardboard tokens, and they work fine, but it's just not the same. 🙂
I am always on the lookout for 2 player games that are good. I came across this game for $10 in my local shop. Decided to buy based on your video. I can't wait to try it out

Hmm, good question. I don't know that I have one. Some of my favourites include Carolus Magnus, Kingdoms, San Juan, Oregon, Heul Doch, Downfall of Pompeii, Can't Stop, At the Gates of Loyang, Dou Dizhu/Chimera, Tales of the Arabian Nights and Thebes. All of those I'd say are best with three.
Hey Darryl, if you still own the game, would you mind measure out the diameter of the power tokens? Im planing buying the game and I would like to upgrade the chips with equal sized backgammon checkers. Even though they are not double sided, the game should work fine without the double sided tokens also right? It seems 26 red and 26 white checkers should be enough?
Hi, I still own my German copy, but not the English one. The tokens in my copy are 16mm in diameter and about 5mm thick. They don't take up the whole space, though, so the size doesn't need to be precise, a little bigger is okay too. (I don't remember if the board spaces are the same size, but I think more or less.) 26 of each colour won't be enough. My copy has 52 double-sided tokens, and the game ends when the tokens run out and all are on the board. But there's no guarantee the players will have an equal number of tokens, due to flipping tokens and also maybe being unable to play and having to pass their turn. Go with several more of each colour.

Watching the video late but you say this is your favourite at 2 and Ave Caesar is your favourite for 4+. Do you have a favourite at 3?
Maybe Kingdoms? I *only* really like that game at 3p.
