"I have a bad feeling about 006. I think he's going to die." It's Sean Bean. I have seen one movie where he survives to the end credits. He and Michael Beihn are professional dead character actors.
Ms. Onatop is also Jean Grey in X-Men. Famke Janssen. The hack is Alan Cumming who was Nightcrawler in X-2. So they will meet sgain.
I own this movie on laserdisc. LOL
The actress playing Moneypenny's actual last name is Bond.

The production wanted Brosnan for a long time, from the time of the Remington Steele series, but because of the contract he had with that series, Bronsnan couldn't sign on to be Bond, he had to wait a couple of years until finally he could. That's why he's that the production had to summon Timothy Dalton at that time.

I like how the movie gives such a twist on Bond girls compared to past movies. Xenia Onatopp is introduced like many others: punny name, seductive, lives dangerously, glamorous looks. Then she turns out to be an irredeemable psycho, and the movie's good Bond girl is Natalya, who starts out more plainly dressed and doesn't have any combat training, but gets by anyway thanks to her technical skills, determination and quick thinking

      @Cheepchipsable ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Connery could brawl pretty well.
Moore could be serious, but there weren't a lot of those moments written into his films, or perhaps used too sparingly.
Dalton was a bit too earnest and as a result his film took Bond to almost a generic action movie, which wasn't really what Bond was about. Strangely he did have many more quips than I remember.
This is why Brosnan's Bond had become Moorish. This film is more modern in the sense it is faster paced, which I think helps a lot.

Famke Janssen's Xenia Onatopp makes me think that she could have been a great Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow too aside from Milla Jovovich.

The role of “M” is based on the real life Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) who is known as “C”.
The first head of MI6 was a man named Mansfield Smith-Cumming - who would sign all documents with just the letter “C” in green ink.
That became a tradition with the chiefs after him - so all documents and orders are signed “C” in green ink.
Therefore, “M” isn’t a person but rather a position - whoever is chief at the time is “M”.

The first time I ever saw Pierce Brosnan was in the TV show Remington Steele, and my first thought of him was, Wow, he'd make a great James Bond! :) It's my understanding that Brosnan had always been interested in playing the part of Bond, but when Dalton left and the role became available, Pierce's wife at that time was dying of cancer so he at first declined. They waited until he was ready to play the part to start shooting Bond movies again, which is why Dalton's last movie was in 1989 and this movie was in 1995. I don't know how accurate I am, but that's what I heard at the time as to why it took 6 years for a new Bond movie to come out. Well worth the wait! I was so sad for Brosnan that he lost his wife, but very happy he eventually got to play this part. He was always meant to be Bond. :)

Zenia was played by Dutch actress Famke Janssen who was inX-Men series as Jean Grey beginning in 2000 and was in Taken series with Liam Neeson who was considered heavily for the role of James Bond in Goldeneye but turned it down. 40:29 - In 1986, NBC cancelled a television show called 'Remington Steele' starring Pierce Brosnan.
As Brosnan was offered the role of James Bond, the publicity improved Remington Steele's ratings and it was renewed, contractually requiring Brosnan to return to the show. This caused Eon Productions to have to look elsewhere for the new 007.

Licence To Kill was the first Bond film I ever saw, and I became an instant fan. Plus there where the James Bond Jr cartoons. The Thanksgiving of 94, I remember watching TBS because of a James Bond marathon. They would have them on all day in random order. Watching them with my dad cousins it was hard not to love this series. Like the character of Bond, these movies are just charming and entertaining. Then after a 6 year gap of having no Bond movies, I find out about Goldeneye when I see a trailer for it at the movies. My excitement was through the roof for this when I finally sat in my seat next to my dad, who was a fan of Connery. He ended up loving Brosnan as Bond. As an 11 year old, I was excited to be at the beginning of a new era of Bond, and the movie didn't disappoint. This, Licence To Kill and are my two personal favorites. Looking forward to the next reaction. You're awesome.

To answer your question about 'M', in the movie universe it is the designation for the head of MI6.
It comes from the real life first head of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6): Sir Mansfield Cumming.
He always signed his official documents with the letter 'C' in green ink.
That signature tradition continues and the head is referred to as 'C'. Since Ian Flemming had been in Intelligence and details about MI5 & MI6 were classified back when in the day, he changed details, like 'C' being changed to 'M'.

The First being Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp, I know that it's been a while since "X-Men" but I was hoping that You'd at least remember her (red-headed) as "Jean Grey." 15:34 Yes, “M” is a code name for the head of MI6. Specifically, M stands for “Missions,” to identify that the incumbent is the head of the Missions Department.
    **SPOILER ALERT**
There have been four official onscreen Ms in 007 history. The first was actor Bernard Lee, who played M in 11 Bond films between 1962 and 1979. His character’s actual name was Miles Messervy.
There was no M onscreen in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (1981), out of respect for Bernard Lee’s passing that year.
The second M was actor Robert Brown, who had previously played Admiral Hargreaves in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1977). There is some debate as to whether Brown’s M is intended to be the same character as Lee’s M, or whether he is still playing Admiral Hargreaves and has been promoted to the role of M - this is something that is never cleared up in the films. In any event, Brown portrayed M in 4 Bond films, the last being LICENCE TO KILL (1989).
The next actor to take on the M role was Judi Dench, who, as you see here, started playing M in GOLDENEYE (1995), and appeared in the next seven Bond films until SKYFALL (2012), although she appears briefly in a video in SPECTRE (2015). This version of the character was said to be based on real life MI5 head Stella Rimmington, and originally has a strained relationship with Bond. As you will see in future Bond films, she develops a better relationship with Bond, and like Bernard Lee, Dench played M for more than one Bond. Her character’s name is eventually revealed to be Olivia Mansfield.
Judi Dench’s M was directly replaced by Ralph Fiennes’ character Gareth Mallory, who had appeared throughout SKYFALL (2012) as Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee. He went on to appear as M in the subsequent Daniel Craig Bond films SPECTRE (2015) and NO TIME TO DIE (2021), which brings us up to the present.

Patriot Games (1992, starring Harrison Ford) wasn’t mainstream?

16:16 on the far right is the Co-Producer Micheal G. Wilson. His step father Albert R. Broccoli (Producer of the Bond franchise since the beginning). Michael served at Co-Producer with his setp father starting with A View to a Kill. Goldeneye was the first movie that Albert wasn't involved. Michael step sister Barbara join Michael as Co-Producer and they been running the franchise ever since. Michael has cameo in every Bond film since The Spy Who Loved Me. If you pay close attention you can find him.
