I have always indexed my spark plugs with the open side of the plug facing the intake valve. Some engine builders turn the ground strap towards the intake valve (to prevent fuel wetting of the plug). I have never had an issue with fuel wetting. Some will even split the difference or turn the ground electrode/strap to the nearest section of the cylinder wall. Each engine setup is different, and there can be good reasoning for doing any of those methods.
@DustySteel It is a huge valve!!! Since your indexing is critical for clearance issues, make a mark on the outside of the spark plug with a little dot or line of paint and make a mark on the head also so you can verify it each time you you reinstall the plug. I mark mine where the ground electrode/strap meets the threads of the plug because it makes remarking new plugs easier and consistent.
@@jamessharp9790 thanks for watching and subbing; if that was you. My guess is around 28hp but who knows? They run this setup in Indonesia all the time. May need to change out gears at some point but it’s not a huge issue.
@@DustySteel For over a decade the Brazilians have converted their CRF150F/230F's to 300cc 30+ hp without any issues. TH-cam their races by the word Velocross.
@@shockadellick thanks for watching!! I’ve definitely seen some of those races but wasn’t sure what to look for so thank you very much for telling me about Velocross.
I didnt know it was possible 😳
Pretty cool!
@@DunnMotors thanks for watching and subbing!! Yeah, I need to machine the case but it’ll work. I’ll have an update video soon!
@DustySteel Cool man, looking forward to it.

@@MishMashMoto thanks for watching and for the info; as always, it’s greatly appreciated!😎👍
@@MishMashMoto they told me that they did that so that the valve wouldn’t hit the spark plug.

@@MishMashMoto okay; I will do that.😊 I was going to take the engine apart yesterday but I ran out of time. Maybe this week I’ll have time to do that.
@DustySteel 👍🏼 I am not in a hurry on my end so keep it together and enjoy it until your ready to take it apart and build it.
When you finish you gotta make a video with links to the parts so I can copy you lol
@@dylanhunt8742 thanks for watching and subbing, if that was you! I’ll try to post what I can.
Seems like a lot of engineering changes to make this work. Not sure what power gains are expected, hope the transmission holds it

Don't forget you can also lighten your flywheel.

Where'd you get your intake manifold from? It's fully metal right? I tightened mine too much and ripped it. 😵 send help lol...
@@KatieJackson-t4m oh no!! The one that I got was free when I bought the head. It’s only 30mm and has an o-ring. I’m not going to use it for my setup.
@@KatieJackson-t4m I believe that Abe has a metal one that’s $35.
Gana b sweet hope it rips
