@@RedRideRVT1R this bike definitely gets great gas mileage. Even with the big bore I think I was getting around 80mpg. That was with me constantly ripping it around though because it was so fun!
The road sign tells us this is at about 5000 ft elevation. At lower altitudes it may even be a little better performing. Interesting, now the whole rig has to cost less or equal to a 250 factory equivalent to “make sense”! This would be a great small bore hop-up kit to immortalize. Too bad the back ad pages in Cycle magazine don’t exist anymore. This would be an iconic advertisement opportunity. We need to see more about the build, just saying.
@@Simulera thanks for watching and subbing if that was you! This setup can be had for around $700 with decent parts. The reason I invested in doing this was because of the seat height for my wife to be able to ride. She wasn’t comfortable with a 250 and thought it would actually do 70mph like advertised but we were lied to lol. 55mph was doable. Now it’ll climb any hill no matter the elevation and how long the hill might be. Stock it would drop to 45mph and I’d have to downshift. I should’ve shown more before taking it apart to do the 78mm 300cc stroker build. I should have a new video of that soon.
@ interesting! Now you need to upgrade the brakes and install a fork brace! Very cool. It will be interesting to hear about engine durability and transmission wear too.
@Simulera yeah, the suspension, brakes, wheels and tires will all get upgraded eventually. I will definitely add a steering dampener. I plan on WPC treating a lot of parts to try and help with durability. I’m also planning on adding an oil cooler and filter.

Top speed how much increased than stock?How much mileage you are getting in 1 liter?Did you cut the crankcase for 70mm big bore kit?
@@fazlerabby6510 stock speed with me on flat ground was 60 mph, so 28 mph more. I didn’t record fuel mileage before disassembly of 70mm but my guess would be around 75-80 mpg. Stock was 100 mpg. I did not need to cut or machine the crankcase. 70mm is probably largest before machining or cutting is done. 78mm I’m installing for 300cc will need to be cut or machined.

@@DustySteel Thank you so much for your response.my bike is cbz xtreme which had the same engine as xr150.My bikes stock top speed around 130.with racing coil,plug,cdi,exhaust,airfilter I got almost 138 with 43-14 sprockets.please give some suggests to increase 20/22kmph more so i could hit 160kmph.
@ I’ll have to learn about cbz xtreme because I want rear hub to be 43. If you want more top speed and have the horsepower to do it then I would go up with the 14t to 15t, 16t, or 17t. I’m using 18t/46t.

Would the 70mm kit work on a 150 Lifan 162fmj? I know it’s a clone 150f. Is the 2006+ parts way different? Also is your bike 15mm piston pin?

I hear people working on xr150l lifan talk about weak gear box. U can bore it up but u cant ride it hard. U will blow bottom end motor. Not even 70mm. If u bore it up 63 and ride at high rpm. U will get rekt

wow nice video your bike is awesome.. I just found out there is a machine similar to CRF in America with carburetor technology, in my country Indonesia bore up 300cc is considered extreme for daily use. We are usually advised by mechanics to bore up to a maximum of 250cc and that can produce power of around 33-35 HP on a dynojet, BRT products are indeed good but if installed directly without re-tuning the wild power is not released, in our country we do re-porting and analyze it with a flowbench machine (we don't like the dimple/golf porting from the BRT because the flow is not good on the high lift camshaft) and re-customize the camshaft with higher lift, duration and overlap and increase the compression ratio.

I should’ve had the head made and flow tested but this is my first build and this was the first head that I had seen in this size. I’m definitely going to install the wideband again to help tune the carb. I’m going to also have the piston and cylinder treated so it will stay cooler and last longer. I’m also going to add an oil cooler or two.

Hey we're you able to get to sprocket cover back on after? I ordered the 18tooth from sprocket specialist and it's a bit bigger then the oem and the cover doesn't have enough space now
@@jjjfffppp I never even tried because I knew I’d be taking everything off again. I’d imagine it would need to be filed or Dremeled for clearance. I’ll figure it out soon and make a video. I made kinda bad short showing it on and talking about it but never an actual video.
@@DustySteel I actually got it back on. Just has to be lined up perfectly .That sprocket only have me about 2mph. More at the top. I'm hoping the Yoshi exhaust will help. The jet ,opening the air box and this sprocket got me from 55 to 57mph. I'm 210lbs . So probably bigger then who should be on this bike. But it does feel like it holds the speed better. Like even on inclines it will hold 55 when before 55 was max in best case scenarios
@@jjjfffppp I’m also about 210lbs. Even with just a big bore it only wanted to do like 70. The head really helped for top end speed. SXParts has their kits available again. For around $600 you can get a big bore with a forged piston, big valve head for whatever size big bore, and a cam. With stock gearing I could just give it a little gas and the front tire would come up. Definitely makes it way more fun.

I noticed that you have the spring clip on your chain link fitted wrong the closed end should face in the direction of rotation not the open end as yours is,in the position that you have it ,it is more likely to come of

No one ever could've guessed it was the 150L Rocket SHIP launching off to a nether-world but I ain't telling no one !! 😵💫 Now I was trying to follow some of what you've done & it started running together so I Subb'd Up in the hopes of figuring out what all you've done here & WHY? Hey man I’m curious how you ended up securing the front sprocket? I just did the 46 year waiting on the head cam and valves to come in before I go any further, big bore is done already.

Thats how i like it, lightly smoked & reverse seared. Notice how much it shrinks once you start grilling it. Thats why i cut a joint thicker than i originally want it. 2.5 inch thick will end up 1.5 inch after grilling. Some say seasoning before grilling means it burns off on the grill. So maybe try adding seasoning after to see how it compares. Altho salt will help it to tenderise a little if left for 24 hours in the fridge. How far do you have the bottom vents open when reverse searing? I have three separate vents on the bottom of my Weber each one i can open separately. So i close the one under the reverse sear side where the steak is & have the other two under the coals opened by half, which usually keeps temp at around 200 celcius (392 F) depending on how much charcoal is in there. I tend to only fill the charcoal chimney by half to keep temps lower for reverse searing, then add more charcoal & stoke it up once im ready to grill for more heat with all vents open.

I season it a couple of hours before and can definitely still taste the seasoning. My grill just has the 3 vents on the bottom controlled by one handle. I leave it open when cooking it this fast. If I’m trying to grill slowly then I’ll use the snake method.

how come you had your petcock on reserve? also i have a stock engine i removed the baffle in the exhaust, opened up the air box. what size jets would you recommend i bump up to? on a cold start if i blip the throttle it conks out. great videos btw, your bike is awesome

If you gave it more air to flow then it probably needs more fuel to go along with that air. You could try putting one size bigger pilot and at least a 115 main jet if you are at sea level.

how fast does it go im considering buying one
As much as I would like to strip down my xr150 as like yours, I can't because of all the constant dirt and mud in my place. But your is looking really pretty good and clean.
@@FPI23 mine is definitely more of a street machine. I keep it clean for sure! I have a prefilter that I’m going to put on for when it gets really wet and I’m going to add a mudflap.

I’ve been thinking about the 222 bbk for mines. I think this video may have sold me. What carb are you running? My only concern is I want to maintain the stock air box/carb setup. I hope I can jet the carb enough to work.

There are definitely a lot of options for big bore sizes depending on what you’re wanting and willing to pay. I’m currently working on a 78mm setup with a +4.2mm crank for 300cc. Big bore stroker. With the current 70mm 222cc setup I’m using a 36/31 head with a cheap PWK30 carb. th-cam.com/video/L3wLJ9CVxv8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gFzPQpRpZIUJwqAQ If you want to maintain the stock airbox just buy a 45 degree elbow that matches the outside diameter of the carb and then port the airbox to match the outside diameter of the elbow. You’ll need to get a manifold that has the port, it will need to bolt up to the carb design that you choose, if you’re wanting to maintain emissions. With most carbs they have vents that can just go into the stock location.
@@LeeLegendre if you have a lot of money you could get a SmartCarb or Lectron, etc…
@@LeeLegendre most carbs come out of the box with something that is close and have charts that show you how to jet. If you get a wideband then it takes the guess work out of the equation. Match the size carb with the intake inner diameter of the head. I think stock head is 26mm for example.

@@tobeymatthews4345 if you are wanting low end power than I would recommend going with a smaller front sprocket. If you don’t want to add power by adding a big bore.

I have always indexed my spark plugs with the open side of the plug facing the intake valve. Some engine builders turn the ground strap towards the intake valve (to prevent fuel wetting of the plug). I have never had an issue with fuel wetting. Some will even split the difference or turn the ground electrode/strap to the nearest section of the cylinder wall. Each engine setup is different, and there can be good reasoning for doing any of those methods.

@@MishMashMoto they told me that they did that so that the valve wouldn’t hit the spark plug.
@DustySteel It is a huge valve!!! Since your indexing is critical for clearance issues, make a mark on the outside of the spark plug with a little dot or line of paint and make a mark on the head also so you can verify it each time you you reinstall the plug. I mark mine where the ground electrode/strap meets the threads of the plug because it makes remarking new plugs easier and consistent.

Lossen all your engine mounts and pry the engine back and fourth. The bolt hole will line up you dont need to drill it out

You won't have to force it and you won't break anything. The whole engine is slightly out of alignment and that's why you cannot install the bolt. Also the "l" head and the "f" head are exactly the same
@@joshbarnes5784 okay; I could look into that. Do the “f” heads also have the holes for the sensors? I know they are all very similar. SXParts only listed it as CRF 150 L.
@@DustySteel they are cast with the sensor and air bypass locations but are not drilled for them. I removed all of the air bypass crap and plugged the holes
@@joshbarnes5784 I didn’t unbolt the engine though so in my opinion with how much it’s still off, even with me boring the head mount, it’s off too much. I don’t have the stock head anymore otherwise I would compare the two.
I had all those same problems with the 30 mm cheapo short rubber boot. I went more caveman and; RTV'ed the flange, clearanced the motor mounts and trimmed the starter bolt....lol
@@TinShackVideos I also rtv’d the flange at that time; I just had the carb tilted so the bowl was a little more away from the exhaust lol.
@@DustySteel The cheapo rubber boot, the more the hose clamp is tightened, the bigger the gap.
