Wow! I just graduated as an np 5 months ago. I got 3 jobs offer (nocturnist, primary care, and case management NP). I chose the nocturnist position and hope that I made the right decisions. Cause I would hate to feel like this.
It’s very hard, the transition of RN to NP, with respect to just how much our healthcare system is run in America. Profit over patient is definitely correct. Makes me feel done with healthcare as well. Banking and IT sound interesting 🤨. Blessings to you in the future I cannot wait to see more videos.
I worked in a nursing home 15 years ago and had a positive experience. Tried it again a few years ago and it BROKE me. I gained 35lbs in a few mos, was miserable, suicidal ideations. Not good. I’m a strong person and they broke me fast. Find somewhere you’re valued… you deserve it.
Dfinch85 That’s deep…I’m sorry that your mental health was in jeopardy…not worth it at all! Even I can tell you ICU nursing care has changed over the past 4-5 years. I honestly can't believe what you just said. Patients are "demanding and entitled..."? You can't be serious. So it's the patient's fault? Remember who you are working for. Patients actually ARE demanding BECAUSE they are entitled to good healthcare.
@@sunshinegirl1967 I wouldn’t say all but there are some patients who make the profession not enjoyable and I can see where this physician is coming from. Healthcare is a physically and emotionally demanding job and things like a lack of gratitude, understanding, and patience really brings on a lot compassion fatigue.
I'm an RN. I changed from medical nursing to psych/behavioral health 35 years ago with much satisfaction. I'm happily working part time in my 60s and am very valued at my job. I think it is about finding the right niche and employer.
I agree with you, however, psyc behavioral health is just as bad if not worse in some ways. There's a real lack of funding, support, and resources. It's nothing but profit driven pill pushing and filling beds also.
There is no safe niche in medicine. While in the psych/behavioral sector, 2 nurses were murdered OTJ and the management were evil, thrown under every bus as State threatens them. My heart goes out to patients, for what I’ve witnessed… cash cows, barrel’s of meds, not enough care, unrealistic nurse/pt ratio, unrealistic CNA/pt ratio ( most places have no one to answer phones and slowly taking away CNA’s only setting up nurses to fail and patients unable to heal) Thank you for speaking out.
It is crazy how the nurses. I watched through nursing school quit. I been nurse for three years and Im ready to leave the field already. Nursing is unnecessarily difficult. I wish I knew this before I became a nurse.

I worked as an LPN for 10 years. Thought about going further, and now I'm Doing Web Development. I know now that this is the path for me. I had to pray before entering the job, deal with racism, I just fell out of love with nursing. Congratulations on quitting for you. New sub ❤️
…….why not explore fields b4 putting all that money out? So common on utube. With all the info on web, I’d think people could really choose a lifelong career for themselves more successfully.
The beauty about nursing is that if you get exhausted in a role that you're in, you can readily move onto other things. But I totally get where you're coming from. Hundreds of Nurses I know have quit their jobs because of the lack of feeling supported by administrators or appreciated by their patients.
I am an FNP and halfway through my DNP. I can totally relate to how you feel. However, unless you are comfortable and want to work in LTC/nursing homes, you will not enjoy your career in that clinical setting. I knew as an RN I did not like working in nursing homes, so I stayed away from nursing homes. My first NP job was primary care, working with veterans (senior population). I did not like working with seniors and did not want to limit my practice to geriatrics. Therefore, after 4 years, I quit my government job. Now I work as an NP in acute care at one hospital, in administration at another hospital, and as an adjunct professor at a local university where I teach BSN clinical and lecturer in the MSN program. I am happy with the decisions I made and satisfied with my career. I feel like I am making a difference in people's lives and training the next generation of nurses. As an Advanced Practice Nurse, you must find your nitch/niche and continue to grow your practice. You do not have to settle or give up your practice because of a clinical setting that does not work for you.
After 30 years as a Pacu nurse I retired. My whole family was begging me to and I finally did. The system has turned into a monster devouring every one in it’s path.
@@salma31000 I love the job just not being on call 24 hours a day several days a week. I think you should have a little ICU experience before going to work there because you may have patients with art lines or needing drips ect.
Nursing is not easy these days and some people don’t work together. It’s always more work than pay. Prayers is the only thing that helps and keeping spiritually motivated and showing compassion. Each day is a struggle.
I’m also a NP, practicing in a LTC setting and I’m leaving when my collaborators retire in 4 months. The new vision for the practice is totally profit over patients, and I’m not sticking around for it. God told me it was time and I listened. I’m going to focus on homeschooling my children and continuing to scale my online income. Best wishes to you 🖤!
Low key 🔐 High key…This is the realities of nurses and Advanced practice nurses over the past 7 years. Of course, COVID has shed a much brighter light 💡 on how healthcare is failing nursing.
Hey Laurie! Great vid! I got out of The clinic setting a family practice and now I do home health care. I ended up getting a $30,000 raise, make my own schedule, and I went from seeing 20 patients a day to 3 to 4 patients per day! I do not recommend a clinic setting as you will not like being Stuck there for eight hours seeing a ton of patients for minimal pay! I love the home healthcare gig and the flexibility that I have!
Alex, I’ve been an NP for just over 2 years. RN experience has no relevance when you’re an NP; two different scopes of practice. My recommendation was to stay away from primary care as it’s a ton of work with the least amount of pay. Depending on specialty, experience, and where you live, will dictate salary range just like with RN’s. I’m an FNP, so I can work with any population (kids, adults, geriatrics) and I can work in any specialty, so I always recommend specializing. I also recommend staying out of a clinic setting so you’re not chained to a clinic for 8+ hours and can make your own schedule and have a ton of flexibility. Again, you get none of those perks in primary care.
I graduated in 2016 and have been working as FNP. I am sorry things did not workout. You have to do what makes YOU feel fulfilled. Wishing you the very best!
Totally get it been a LVN for 7 years and I’m over the clinical setting. I recently became a esthetician and now I’m in school for my BSN just to do Botox and laser aesthetics. I’m completely done with traditional medicine. These companies only care about financial gain and I just can’t be a part of it.
Yes Botox and laser aesthetics! I’m graduating later this year and I do not desire to be in a hospital for too long, I’ll probably do a bit of. WFH nursing as well then NP school and move into aesthetics
I’m an RN that has long term care and med surge experience. I hated working nights and didn’t go back after my covid infection because of long covid. @@KimmyDTV it’s not a nail salon. I would be providing foot and nail care to diabetics for example. Or to elderly, those that don’t have someone to care for their feet. Yes, the health care system in America is a disgrace. And I am so disappointed in the State and Federal laws/involvement in making the health care system fair, safe, and satisfactory for all people.
Very well said!! This is the problem when the care is taken out of healthcare. It's all about business. Utterly disgusting. All systems are collapsing in America because of greed.

my mom has a friend at church who testified at new years that her job was making her take care of 100 clients in the hospital without extra care and she quit. Honestly, the way they treat individuals is not fair.
Me and my daughter is CNAs and we feel Exactly how you feel it’s crazy because me and her just had this conversation not even an hour ago and then I ran across your video
Bless you and your daughter for all the hard work you do; Thank You! It's sad that the back-wrecking work that you do is so very under-appreciated (financially or otherwise). I have heard some CNA;s say they could make more working at a fast food place. Residents/patients are complicated and require so much hands-on care that if one isn't in the nursing field, they would not be able to understand how much effort it takes to take care of so many with so little time.
I feel like a newbie in my 9th yr as a psych RN & 2nd yr as a psych NP. I’ve never worked for anyone as a psych NP so I do have freedom as I opened my tele practice right out of the gate. That’s probably the only thing that’s saving me. I “work” three days a week but man it can be scary carrying so much weight. Many days I would rather focus on trucking & real estate, which I still have my hands in.
Hi hun. That's the direction I'm trying to go in. There's not a lot of information out there about Psyche RNs. What's was your experience before becoming a FNP
Wow can’t wait to watch this. I’ve been following your journey. I’ve been working as a pediatric NP for 1.5 year. I love the pts I work with and the families I encounter. I went into nursing because I love helping people. But the politics of it all, the egos, the down talk from MDs is tooo much sometimes.
I totally agree! The politics will drive you crazy. I know that there are politics in every job but it’s just something with nursing! All the best to you
I'm a medical lab scientist. We don't tolerate down talk from MD's or nurses. If you ever want a fun environment and still have it be clinical, join us ❤️ and if you love patients, they have some positions where you can have patient contact.
NPs by me are opening their own clinics. Business is booming and the wait lists are long. People want medical care that holds to ethics and treats people with respect. There's definitely opportunity out there. The clinic I found has a guarantee of 30 minutes per patient with the NP. There isn't a rush feeling.
Has anyone here thought of working in the prison system? The nursing got bad for me I was working until things changed when a friend suggested working in the prison. I said, I could never work in a prison. Eventually put an application in the local prison in Tucson Arizona and they hired me to work in the Infirmary and actually it was the best job I ever had . It was so much different than I Had imagined. The inmates were usually polite with nurses. But it's like anyplace, some good, some not so good. I love prison. Federal prison has few more regulations than PVT prison. Sorry my sentences are a little scattered, but I have a few distractions here that are interfering with my thought process. Just thought I would throw that out there. For me, not as scary as I thought it would be. I actually would pray with inmates and I really liked that.
Congratulations Laurie! It takes courage to walk away from any unhealthy situation. I saw this coming cause your frustration was obvious for the longest. Healthcare was always was it is but I think Covid exposed more truth about it which is why many of us from all levels of the field are feeling like moving on or starting businesses. Pray and ask God to guide you to the next best job meanwhile if you are unsure of where you want to head next give travel nursing a try, you have plenty of ICU experience and those contracts are worth it these days, build your savings and the future will tell, go with the flow of life, it’s going to be fine, all the best on your future endeavors! Happy New Year! Blessings!😊
"Profit over Patient". You could not have said it better. It seems to be the same everywhere. I have always enjoyed your channel and how transparent you are. I am not surprised that you quit eventually. I believe you will get a much better job and this time around you have a better vantage point and more leverage. I will be starting my first NP job in the next couple of months (in the ED) after almost 2 years of finishing school, and after being an ED nurse for more than 12 years. I am so disappointed in what healthcare has and wonder sometimes if I will be able to make a difference.
I have been a nurse for almost 33 years now. Nursing is rough and we have been talking about this for years. The pandemic has only served to exacerbate the problem and highlight the purely financial interests of most health care organizations. They don't care about patients and definitely not about staff. We are juat working machines, tools to line their pockets. It is sad to see what nursing has become. I am proud of you for stepping up and stepping out. Never doubt for a second what God can do. Even though you are unsure of what your next move will be, your peace with your decision is apparent. I am happy for you. I just wonder what this country is going to do. There is currently a mass exodus of health care staff, myself included and so many others that I know. The entire system needs refocusing and revamping.
I am hoping to see more professionals shift to Functional Medicine private practice. But ofcourse that doesn't help the poor because PP doesn't accept insurance. As a patient I only seek out holistic trained MD, DO, Functional. The practice that I go to offers UBI IV OZONE and works to treat the whole body seeking the root cause of illness. Medical professionals need to bring back OZONE therapy to the masses, again.
@@braveheartlioness You are so right. I think that it is just a matter of time before insurance will have no choice but to cover these services because demand for them is increasing.

I quit my job as a registered ICU nurse because I was burned out from the unsafe nurse to patient ratios. Sadly, so many of us have the calling to help people but the healthcare system is broken and we can't do our jobs safely. Best wishes to you.
Congrats! I quit my job in a SNF/same reason. I felt stretched too thin with unsafe ratios. I was also very disappointed with the amount of charting required; it was ridiculous!! When you spend 2/3 of your time charting, you Know there's a problem !!
I’m an RN and I must say I clicked on this video and I agree with “ healthcare is annoying”. It’s bothersome when you really have a gift & skills to implement but bureaucracy of healthcare overshadows everything! I’m learning to navigate in our profession a little better, where I leave room for myself to work in another capacity or form of myself. Remember we are multifaceted people. Yes we’re nurses and MORE! I’m tapping into other ways to heal and nurture people including myself! You’ll be just fine! Happy New Year and may it bring more blessings to you. Be open to infinite possibilities ❤️
product over patients is something that I noticed at 20. I got into medical school at 21 and after reflecting on my healthcare experiences with physicians I knew it was a backward situation. The fact of the matter is that 90 percent of treatments are done on a preventable illness and an individual that is not motivated to get better. On top of that, the keystone of medicine in today's world is profit. The bottom line is valued over any patient and you or any worker is just a puppet in this big money scheme. Unfortunately people need jobs so they work in these fields because they pay well, but if you evaluate the system it is broke.
I hated the nursing home ever since my first semester of nursing school. As a np I feel like I have wasted my time pursuing thus degree. I'm doing housecalls but I'm so so over it. They try to exploit you as much as possible, if they can take your blood, they will and turn around and ask you for more please. I'm scouting out possibilities while using up my time. Congrats on having the hutspa to say no more.
All the best to you my dear! The nursing home is a beast and I now understand when ppl say you have to experience it to know it’s a whole another world.
You are so on point. Your brain has advised the road is closed. Keep your focus. You have control of your brain. Don't allow others to think for you. Continue your life beautiful sister. Love,
I'm not sure why this video was recommended. I'm currently in the same situation and have worked in every Specialty known to man for more than 22 years. I change my undergrad te to Biology because I do know Medicine is more where I want to go. However I look forward to working as a CNA while I finish my degree. Good luck on your future, I know it will be bright.
Hopefully, you won't be working as a CNA in a nursing home....it's slavery. Many facilities have no respect for CNA's...you will carry the bulk of patient care all on your shoulders. Usually, with no real help. They might pass a tray or two..."for you" as they say....as if the patient is not theirs too. Hopefully, you'll find a great job where they respect the CNA.
As a nurse working in nursing home got my first job in this setting during the pandemic now almost two years. I am feeling the same way u feel now, nothing is going to change it makes me tired mentally, emotionally, physically. I do love my patients but at what cost.
One thing about nursing there is so much you can do. Girl the sky is the limit. And you are an NP with experience that's great. Hope you find the position of your dreams. I've been a CNA for 9 years and I've been working in hospice since 2018, well back and forth from hospice and hospital. I love what I do but there is always more. CNAs get no respect so I'm heading back to school to get more letters by my name.
Laurie, you are GREAT at what you do. I believe all the frustrations, short comings and hiccups experienced in your past job will prepare you for GREATER things to come. The choice to leave and find a work space/place that reflects and agree with your purposeful calling is inspiring! In time, God will reveal his plan and your next mission field...be encouraged 😉. Remain blessed and reflect on Jeremiah 29:11
The Healthcare system is so broken! Even as a provider myself, I dread dealing with other providers when it comes to my health and that of my loved ones. Greed is costing people's lives and that frustrates me. The lives of our patients should always be first. Good job figuring our what matters!
I get the feeling of giving yourself grace and waiting to see if things get better. I quit my job in October this year as a clinical application specialist at a private hospital. It was such a toxic environment and you are right it is all about the money not the patients. I hope you find something geared towards what you want to do. Happy hunting.
God bless you!! I've only been in my LTC position for about 8 months now. This past week was the straw that broke the camel's back for me (or like you said, the culmination)!! I applied to another position and they've already called back for the interview (surprising being the employer they are....was expecting a longer wait). God willing they come through and I can get out of my hell hole as well!! DO YOU!!! Life is too damn short!! We need to be happy!! HEALTHCARE in AMERICA SUCKS!!! All the best for the new year!!

So proud of y'all going before us and showing us the way. Will come in very handy for the next generation of Future Nurse Practitioners! 🙏🏾 Absolutely, Top tip... NEVER burn your bridges...
I also had NP jobs in the past and two of them I only lasted for about 2 months or so..I was not happy. The most recent job I had was great but there were too much politics and disrespect towards NPs. It was one of the most stable jobs, but I had to quit, all I know is that I am was not seeing myself working for that organisation and with the same people for another year, 2 years, 5 years, etc. Now I am 1 month in my new NP job, not as good paying as my previous job but hey, it is not stressful, my manager is not a micro manager, I only work with 1 person, I am autonomous... I will see how I go... See, it is not about the salary at all, it is about being happy, satisfied, and the people you work with. We are NPs, we can do what we need to do - adding more value to our profession! Congrats to you.
Healthcare has been broken for years, especially Long term care geriatrics. Staffing issues with 3 nursing assistants at night, each CNA has 30 patients and are expected to give baths, showers, get people up for rehab, early appointments and breakfast. Old people sitting in wheelchairs 5 am. Waiting for dining room to open at 8am. Safety concerns for nurses...Younger patient's friends visiting, smoking weed and won't leave. No sercurity at Nursing home.
Exactly. The role of the CNA was originally to assist the nurse. But seems like CNA means "the person fully responsible for patient care". There are nurses that do their share of the so-called "dirty work".....then there are those who say "I don't know how to do "CNA Work"....makes me wonder what kind of school they went to, that didn't teach basic care.
Family NP for 8 years, RN for 15. As an NP in a family practice clinic… the message from admin is always… SEE MORE PATIENTS, do work on your days off, take call with no compensation. I’m in rural health so we always seem to do more with less. Recently, new contracts, want to cut base pay significantly and have us make it up in production, it’s the last straw, if they won’t negotiate I’m outta there. Maybe will be even if they do…. I was reading that list of when you know you should quit your job… girl, I have most of those!! Something’s gotta give for sure. Good for you for doing what you need to take care of yourself!!
Thanks for recording this video! I am graduating this June, and I am afraid of how I am going to survive without all of the senior nurses. But, I know they are exhausted 😭
I have been following you for less than a year, and I wish I was aware of you sooner. First, I congratulate you for hanging in there as long as you did. I think the fact that you had a decent boss was responsible. I worked for a company that was strictly involved with the business and profit angle and basically wanted the providers to upsell like a fast-food restaurant. I lasted for 5 months and during that time I experienced moral distress, with physical and emotional manifestations. I experienced an extended job search and the nursing home job was the first offer. Although the experience was poor it reinforced the fact that my integrity was more important than a paycheck. I take my responsibilities very seriously and I have always practiced in an ethical, compassionate manner. I know that you will find the right path for yourself. Blessings for a fulfilling New Year.
@@fromcnatonp Everything will work out for your good you will see, also have you thought about working as a nurse in the prison setting or becoming a correctional officer or security officer.
Wow! The world is coming to an end for real now! I'm surprised actually. I knew that you would eventually get burned out and quit. I just didn't know how soon. Like you and many other NP's. It's hard work! The flexibility is what kept you there for sure. Keep your mental status together. Good luck on whatever you do.
It is truth in that the industry is concerned more about their profit than the care of the patient. I've had it, too! Turning to another service-oriented profession. I absolutely understand. All the best!⚘️⚘️⚘️
Just came across your video and I totally hear you, I noticed this early on in my career as an NP in Massachusetts. I changed up specialties and employers several times, but I kept getting burnt out. I was an NP since 2010, finally quit in Sept 2021 and I haven’t looked back. Working as an RN in home care now, but I don’t know that I’ll be doing that forever. Good luck!!
I’ve been watching your videos for about a year and thank you for the open honesty of the nursing profession. It’s my last year of completing my psychiatric mental health NP degree and I am really doubtful. I will continue to pray for our mental and physical health. Happy new year to you and your family!
Don't let doubt hold you back from what your are passionate about because everyone has different experiences. Me too working SNF a little after a year!!! Went PRN 6 months ago, writing my final resignation to quit completely tonight -- found a job i LOVE >>> take the opportunity right now...there's so much out there.
Nursing home is brutal. I worked there for years as a nurse and honestly, you can try but alone, you can’t change them. You will fight a battle that you can’t win and they’ll be watching you from the side. It’s either you join them or quit. It’s sad. You can only help your patients your own little way to keep your peace of mind when you lay down on your bed at night. I currently work an an NP in a FQHC, a different battle but at least much better than a nursing home. Nursing home will make you sad.
Good for you. I quit my first NP job this year after only a mere 5 months without another job lined up. It took me several months to get that first job so it was tough quitting because I felt like a failure. It was at a nursing home setting like yours. Wasn’t a good fit and had no support from my boss and the nurses didn’t respect me as a provider because I was new. Plus they had me doing job duties that aren’t in my job description. 5 weeks after quitting I landed a job as a NP hospitalist and I start next week. Btw I’m a FNP too. I’m so excited! Things happen for a reason. I know you will find a job that will fit your needs in 2022!
Became an LPN in 1998 and an RN in 2008, only to now discover I stayed way too long. I was rarely satisfied as a professional because I rarely had time to fulfill my personal mission of CARING for those in my care. I even tried leadership positions, hoping that would empower me to promote caring environments, only to discover I had to deal with corporations that only want to get paid, at anybody’s expense. I haven’t worked in healthcare since February 2020 because of a physical disability, but I don’t miss it at all. I definitely chose the wrong career field because health”care” is not caring at all! I understand you completely.
I've been an lpn for 10 years and dreamed about going back 2 school for a NON nursing degree. I'm burnt tf out. And yes worked throughout covid. I love patient care.
It’s good to share your experiences but please don’t discourage anyone else. If you think a system is broken, you be the one to change it! I’m a family nurse practitioner as well for 5 years and trust me it is draining. I stepped away for a while but will return as a DNP. Change your environment if need be but don’t give up! Praying for you young lady.
This coming March will be 9 yrs that I put my papers in and retired from my RN job. 32 yrs at the bedside of a major teaching hospital ( a county hospital),worked in all the hell holes: Emergency Room, Neurosurgical ICU, Medical ICU.Finished my final 19 years working in Trauma ICU ,of which the Burn Unit was included. Had enough one day and retired. Am much happier.
this is primarily why I went into Acute Care NP; I knew I wanted to take care of my community but I also knew my care as an NP would be at the mercy of insurance companies. Another reason I avoided primary care was because it felt like there was a lot of hand holding and spoon feeding patients and personally, either you allow me to help you get to your healthiest self or stay sick. In acute care, patients get what they need regardless of what insurance says.
Just tuned in. If I heard correctly you quit your job. Congrats. You deserve so much better than what you've been getting. No doubt, you will flourish. You afe intelligent, driven and a good spirit. Believe me, God will guide you to where you should be. Good luck. God bless you and your family and I wish you peace and happiness in the coming year.
LPN for 8 years after changing careers. I also had a lot of high pressure, high stress, jobs for a long time before becoming a nurse. Healthcare today grinds down it's most caring, talented, dedicated, hard working people into the dust. After witnessing this, I stay in the lightweight jobs (private duty). A lot less money, but I get to care for my patients. Sometimes, I get depressed at what they are doing to nurses and doctors and to the medicine itself. Corporate medicine and the MBA's that run it are destroying the healthcare infrastructure in this country.
I’m a NP. I really love my job but, you are right about money being a lot of the focus of healthcare here. It is such a complex issue that needs to be tackled, I think universal healthcare is part of the solution. We already have for profit insurance companies managing our care. Hope you find a great new position.
So proud of you my dear! It’s beneficial for your personal & professional growth to recognize when it’s time to make a move & to act on the intuition. Keep pushing! You’ve worked so hard & come too far to stay where you’re not supposed to be. Life is too short & there are so many other environments for you as an NP. May you find & enjoy all the places you are supposed to be. Happy New Year 💜
Don't worry you can find other work in many other fields of your choice! My mother was a nurse for 21 years and right after she retired she found work in Social Services field as a Caseworker for the local income assistance (welfare) program and not long after that she was promoted as the Administrator for the program 👏👍🏼. I worked as a Nurse briefly as well and found work as a Payroll Clerk for a mining company.
I’m so glad people are starting to know what their worth, granted I am not a nurse nor do I work in the healthcare field. I worked in retail throughout school and I’m telling you, people can be very nasty! Same with companies/corporations. 😤
I totally agree, they just have us work for parts of two or three people till we sick , cannot work no more and they will replace your job with someone in a bit of second, but we are the ones who lose our health, mentally and physically.
I am a therapist (Occupational therapy) And I have 5 years experience primarily in a SNF setting . I completely understand . I am in a similar situation , and I was just telling a friend that I need to take a long break from that setting . It’s just so sad it is really profit over the patient . Wow. It really makes me pause when I hear you say the truth which is “profit over patients”. All of us in healthcare see it. I want NOT to believe that it will always be like this; but after being an RN for 16 years and not seeing things change I feel unhopeful at times. What do we do???
You became overwhelmed because these people here do not care about humans. Corporate America couldn't care less about people. You are far too caring and your heart is genuine. Don't change your mind about your future. I love your truthfulness. Thank you. I understand your feelings exactly. Your future is ahead and you will be fine. Be safe and enjoy your life.
I absolutely can not blame you. I got cancer and was so glad to be able to quit. I love nursing. Geriatrics is my thing, but I don't care how much money you pay me, short staffing will never make it worth the money. EVER
I know I don't know you, but I'm proud of you for taking this step forward. It can be so scary, but I know with proper rest amd recovery from the burnout you'll find an opportunity that is perfect for you. So congratulations 🎊🎊 I hope the new year brings you lots of good things!

Entitled and demanding. Same here… pharmacist for over twenty years. They think we flip burgers.

I work in a nursing home as a CNA in NYC and you have to just have live in your heart because you do more work than you’re paid for
The beauty about nursing is that if you get exhausted in a role that you're in, you can readily move onto other things.
What is the benefits of DNP compared to just an NP ?
After 30 years as a Pacu nurse I retired. My whole family was begging me to and I finally did. The system has turned into a monster devouring every one in it’s path.

Nursing is not easy these days and some people don’t work together. It’s always more work than pay. Prayers is the only thing that helps and keeping spiritually motivated and showing compassion. Each day is a struggle.
I totally agree with your statement “prayers is the only thing that helps”.
I’m also a NP, practicing in a LTC setting and I’m leaving when my collaborators retire in 4 months. Hey Laurie!
Mark that is amazing! a raise and less patients I love to see it... Also the fact that you are happy is all that matters as well.
I would love to know more information about home health care

The healthcare system is majorly flawed but don’t forget why you chose the profession. You worked hard for your degree!!!🧑🏾⚕️😍
I know.... Thanks so much
We chose the profession because we enjoy nursing, we don't enjoy being taken advantage of by the healthcare system and admins.
@@Nemixx I totally 💯 agree with U!
One have to be alive and healthy to continue this nursing profession. Congratulations on your good decision dearie🤗
@@noramosesgoddey I came in healthy physically and mentally 2years ago and I’m already 😩😩😩😩
Congratulations on doing what’s best for you and your family 🥳 I know that was a difficult decision but at the end of the day you needed to what was best. We can feel bad about leaving people in a lurch. We are nurses and we care. That has played a role for me in other positions, also. I’m excited for your next path. Wishing you nothing but the best 💕 Hopefully you can have flexibility with your next job too 😊
Thanks so much! 💚
I worked in a nursing home for almost a year and quit. I worked in the human resources department. I just couldn’t stomach it! it was so sad! My mom was a neonatal nurse and worked as a nurse her entire life. Towards the end she left the hospital setting and only did private duty she was so good to her patients and her patients were so good to her, as well they treated her like family! You have to do what is best for you!
Good for her. My mom is also a nurse and she only does private duty as well its just not my thing.
@@fromcnatonp You gotta do what makes you HAPPY!
I'm working as an NP in urgent care and I am over it. Trying to plan an exit strategy, but don't know where to go. Thank you for sharing this!
So sorry to hear. From a fellow NP.
product over patients is something that I noticed at 20.
@Anipee hi can you explain whAt you don't like about house calls?
You are so on point. Your brain has advised the road is closed. Keep your focus. You have control of your brain. Don't allow others to think for you. Continue your life beautiful sister.
Love,
Your bravery is admirable. This is hard and medicine in the U.S. sucks. On to better allow Him to open new doors. 👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you so much
I'm not sure why this video was recommended. I'm currently in the same situation and have worked in every Specialty known to man for more than 22 years. I think I've finally reached the point where I'm ready to vacate the profession altogether and go on a new venture. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavours. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Good for you!!!!
I can totally see you in the role of a passionate teacher. Build up the next generation of nurses. You are already teaching some of us on TH-cam ♥️♥️
Proud of you. The right job will come your way, just believe! Good luck on your new journey, can’t wait to see what’s next for you.
Thank you so much!!
@@fromcnatonp no problem
Thank you I have been on a journey that started as an EKG tech and this May I finish my CNA course. I have been discouraged thanks to covid but your channel keep me motivated to keep going.
Thanks so much and best of luck on your journey
girllllll, I feel your pain!!! I'm also a nurse and I'm feeling the same exact way!!! GOD BLESS!!
Thank you so much! "For I know the plans I have for you..... 💚
Thanks for sharing and after 20 years in healthcare , I too have taken a break and will take other opportunities ,and breathe 🧘♂️
Open your own assisted living center and run it the way YOU want it ran, hell you hold ALL the cards. DO YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!
I hope the next position works out better for you. I know the struggles. Best of luck
I have been a RN for 12 years and i love every bit of it .Nursing will get to you if you let it! everyone is not Cut that way you have to have tough skin but whatever makes you happy does it.
So proud of y'all going before us and showing us the way. Will come in very handy for the next generation of Future Nurse Practitioners! 🙏🏾 Absolutely, Top tip... NEVER burn your bridges...
Thanks. Yes I think so that we are setting the bar and letting you guys know what you should not accept.
Good for you! Best of luck
Thanks so much! 💚
So proud of you. You might want to consider tele-health positions. It might be a good option for you. Wish you well
Thanks so much! 💚
I was trying to hold on my dear! Thanks for watching and all the best you you
Yes !!!! That loyalty phenomenon really ties you to a miserable workplace environment .
It sure does! Thanks for watching 💚
Good luck!!
I saw you on an interview on IG live and I love how you were transparent and honest
Thanks so much!
I felt EVERY bit of this! I don’t know the next chapter of nursing for me. I feel lost!
I’ve been watching your videos for about a year and thank you for the open honesty of the nursing profession. It’s my last year of completing my psychiatric mental health NP degree and I am really doubtful. I will continue to pray for our mental and physical health. Happy new year to you and your family!
I hope you have a way better experience than me! All the best
Don't let doubt hold you back from what your are passionate about because everyone has different experiences. What she says is definitely true but she also stated that she did not love doing what she did in the first place. If it is your passion, go into it with an open heart but with the notes of what was mentioned and gain your own experiences. All the best to you. Blessings.
Life's too short to stay when u r unhappy. Here's to 2022!
Me too working SNF a little after a year!!! Went PRN 6 months ago, writing my final resignation to quit completely tonight -- found a job i LOVE >>> take the opportunity right now...there's so much out there.
Best of luck to you! Yes there is alot out there and we all can find what is for us
Nursing home is brutal.
This is so true! I have did not work nursing home as a nurse and when I tell you I was shocked when I went there as a NP! Just sad!
I hope the new job is going well!
@@fromcnatonp So far so good! Hopefully this is a much better fit for me and what I want to do.
We now sis 😍. When you are a nurse 👩⚕️ you know. Good luck with whatever comes your way.
You got this Laurie! This is all part of the journey. You’ll find your niche eventually. Trust God and trust the process ❤️
Thanks so much
Became an LPN in 1998 and an RN in 2008, only to now discover I stayed way too long.
You are speaking so much truth! I am in it with you, sister!
Why can’t people let others speak their truth without admonishment. She did not say you should be discouraged she was telling her truth.
I love corrections and would see NP come in and out and they looked happy always spoke and friendly..maybe give that a try? Or a look 👀?
This coming March will be 9 yrs that I put my papers in and retired from my RN job. 32 yrs at the bedside of a major teaching hospital ( a county hospital),worked in all the hell holes: Emergency Room, Neurosurgical ICU, Medical ICU.Finished my final 19 years working in Trauma ICU ,of which the Burn Unit was included.
Had enough one day and retired. Am much happier.
At 3:00 FACTS!!!! I’ve been there! & I quit that crap too.
I used to walk into work about to explode, angry!!! That’s when I knew I had to go. ✌🏾
Lol I don’t mean to laugh at your pain but I can totally relate. Glad I’m not alone.
this is primarily why I went into Acute Care NP; I knew I wanted to take care of my community but I also knew my care as an NP would be at the mercy of insurance companies.
Thanks so much I appreciate that! One 💚
@@fromcnatonp Have you thought about consulting. You are very knowledgeable about what to or not to agree to in your np contracts.
What you change too
I felt like you were speaking to me in this video! When it's time to quit and you feel anxiety and dread, something is wrong!
Happy New Year 💜
Thank you so much! I was a bit afraid to take this next step even when I knew in my heart it was time for me to go! One 💚
Agreed!! It seems like people/patients are way more demanding, entitled, and stressed than ever.
Good luck i’m sure you’ll find the right place . Who knows maybe they can open your own business .
I’m an OTR and I hate it. I’m looking to get out of the profession.
Congratulations on making the right choice for yourself. I appreciate how you are taking the time and thinking about what you want in your next role. Sending you lots of love!
My first semester of Np program just finished. I decided that I’m going to enjoy my little free time reading some romantic novels lol. Then i found your channels and I have been watching it since this morning lol. I just fall in love with you right away. Your honesty, your encourage. A brilliant, empathetic, truly nurse at heart and doctor at brain wholesome ❤️🥰
