Very good lesson again, Russell. I appreciate the brevity of these vids but also the clarity of the explanations. 👍

Russell, I haven't thanked you in ages -- so, thank you.

Perfect! I was doing this absolutely wrong, as you were demonstrating. I was turning way to much at the start. I feel like I take it more outside in the back swing with more lift. Then I can release with a feeling of swinging left and the contact is more pure. Interesting is the ball is a slight draw. The miss is way less exaggerated. I either push it slightly or pull the shot slightly. This was so helpful! I was on the range today working on this feel because I was hitting it straight with pop ups and too much spin. Also catching it low on the heel. So much more natural for me to work on the technique you describe in this video. Works even better with the irons!

Thank you Russell, great stuff. Do you have any videos explaining more about straightening the trail arm to prevent the over the top? I struggle with this and and would love some drills or feels to help.

Amazes me how much swing speed you create and looks so effortless. I’m struggling to get to a 100mph club head speed and I work out 2 -3 times a week. Even when I do a dry swing I only manage 106

There's definitely something in this. Physical ability is huge. I can barely get 85mph and I'm swinging with everything I've got. Tried all the techniques.

Hello Russell. Been watching the channel for a good few years now, and obviously think I get good info. and help from you. As one of your older viewers, I have been trying to learn the modern swing for for more than 8 years. Your starting comments were really good, asking about the understanding of what we thought we were trying to do. Watching pros like Lee Trevino, my understanding of the old swing was to take the club towards target for as long as possible on the downswing. I now know this is not the case in modern version, but instead to go left as hard and fast as one can. Your title started with the caption " I always swing left," but you never used the phrase or mentioned it within the lesson. Would it be possible as to go over same again, and speak about how not to slice the ball, as you correctly said this is what my mind thinks will and does happen, when trying to go left? I think I have also been trying to keep my right arm bent too long from what you said in this video. Thanking you in anticipation.

Should the right arm be straight at the ball. Before or after?

Great content as always, Russell! I don't struggle with the speed (115 average with driver), but I have a tendency to get slightly hooky or pully with my driver. Will try the feeling of swinging across more as that coming from the inside you were talking about at the start definitely sounds like my swing thought

Would the straightening of the arm be with irons also?

Russ, I noticed you had the balled teed lower than I do. I try to tee at 1 3/4”. Using your method of striking driver, should I tee a touch lower?

I can't argue with the results but is the straitening of the right arm not a form of casting?

At the end of the lesson you say “Up, Down and ACROSS the ball”.
I’ve never understood the ACROSS the ball part. Many times I’ve heard that the club goes LEFT thus Across the ball.
Could you please elaborate in a video how this is achieved and maybe a drill to ingrain the correct feel for ACROSS the ball.
    Thanks

I think generally coming from the inside is better....mainly because golfers will stand up anyway. So performing the swing path you describe....and still standing up will produce that horrible slice. They key swing thought is to really feel that you complete your swing before your head /eyes start to follow the ball....that's a 'feel'. Doing that will allow the upper body to stay in posture on both types of swings particularly the in to out path. Given that most golfers slice and have probably been taught a figure of 8 drill at some point, a more in to out path is beneficial. Also most high handicap players I play with try to over exaggerate an athletic posture and have too much spine angle at address. Given that you need core and back strength to keep that posture (which is why pro's can do it), another fix is just to stand taller to the ball so that through impact coming " up and out" is less of a concern.

I took a lesson from someone else and they covered this. I just can’t do it or don’t understand fully how to extend my right arm to drop the club into position.

Big takeaway for me is that you generate speed by swinging down not up as you would if you try to hit inside the ball by leaning back.
