I can't imagine the time, effort, energy, AND money it took to create such a life-like layout. Incredible!

impeccable - even preternaturally realistic - scenery and detailing.
    real artistry on display here.
looks like photographs of an "idealized" real world - where everything was kept immaculately clean.
damn. this beats even the world-famous Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg Germany.
as awesomely detailed as that showcase is - its scenes would never be mistaken for photos of reality.

I commented long back - maybe a year ago. Such precise, clean lines in this layout. It's idyllic. Some like to make things grimy to make it authentic, but too grimy looks pessimistic. This cleanliness is the way we'd like our world to be. It's our layout, so it's our world - one of the subtle beauties of this hobby. Your's is my favorite because I modeled Texas in N- scale years back when I had a layout - a monster layout, at that. Also like it because you model the Modern Era. Back in the 80's, modern structures just weren't available.

The most realistic model I've ever seen. By a huge margin. The buildings are correct, the vehicles are dead on, the trains are weathered and have graffiti. Wow, I could look all day and still be amazed.

This layout has what almost all others don't - balance. It looks real because of that and of course the fantastic execution of architecture, scenery and detail. Awesome job!

Well I see one big mistake at 3:03! The Swift truck back into the dock on the blind side. Everyone knows Swift can't back up on the sight side, let alone the blind!

Wow what a superb layout.. I can name off a few places I have driven through like Summerville or Cameron up around temple and Waco where this layout look just like it. It's amazing the quality detail and the texas. Outstanding. I wish mine looked a fraction of this spectacular.

Thanks for your kind comments. The traffic lights are scratchbuilt from Evergreen tubes and machine-cut signal heads and LED's from Richmond Controls. The light controller is from Bakatroics.

Stunningly realistic indeed! Of the very best I've seen. What street lights (tear drop) are you using? Those are EXACTLY what I desire for my layout. I have those Walthers street lights on the wooden pole, but I much prefer the tear drop ones as they're more 'urban' looking if I can find them inexpensively. I'd love to see your layout in a 'night' scene. Great work! !

I can't help but notice in the background of the scene starting at 3:57 horizontal traffic lights just like in Texas and several other states! Did you make those or were they custom or how'd you pull those off?
Awesome layout! I especially love all the name brand and chain stores, restaurants, hotels, etc. Can't find those at a hobby store!

I read some of the comments people are leaving you. Not much more can be said. However if I'm a I'd like to make a suggestion. To enhance your videos a little more and they're great videos. You might consider moving some of your vehicles around so there's a variation and scenes. Whether you do or don't it's okay great layout.🎥

Maybe you should think about turning down your master volume levels. The sound overwhelms the wheels video, especially after the power disappears from sight between buildings.
Remember, sound effects need to be in scale as well.
    Otherwise, real nice looking layout.

nathaniel, if you are not to invested in N scale, get out and get into HO scale. it is more realistic and easier to work with when you get older. Good luck. You might want to go to my FB page and see the pictures of my son Jordan 17, son Justin 13 and my railroad. Jordan laid all of the track. 14 track yard, street running, two track mainline and four track coal plant. It is 16 X 5 feet of our own design. My FB page is under PETER ROSA GOOD LUCK

I am currently invested in N Scale due to the amount of space that I have. I like it a lot. You seem to have been doing this for years and I really liked your video. Hopefully I will be able to have a video or two to share in the coming years. Great layout on your end nonetheless.

How do you speed match your locomotives? I have noticed that when I run a consist of 2 locomotives in DCC, that one locomotive is usually a little faster than the other. After a couple of laps around the layout, the 2 locomotives usually "work together" as far as speed, but I'm afraid that if I ever were to add a 3rd locomotive to the end of the train, that it might push the cars a little too hard and cause a train wreck.

    • @summitmodeltrainvideos4440
      @summitmodeltrainvideos4440  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I use a Bachrus speedometer together with Decoder Pro. All locos of all brands are set to the same speed at any given speedstep. Max. speed is 72 scale miles, reducing 3 mph per throttle step (28 steps), except from 12 mph, the reduction is 2 mph per throttle step. No speed on step 1, that is for starting the diesel sound.

      Hello Peter,
All streets are made with Woodland Scenics Smooth-It road making material. It Works reaaly good and is fairly easy to use.
The parking lots around the businesses are styrene sheets.
