Love the tune. Love the attitude. Good to see someone who's not standing by DJ decks for once. The synth delivers brilliant sounds and such a large sound palette. Rock'n Roll's back!!!
thanks for this demo, to me, playing an actual song utilizing different functionalities truly showcases capabilities of a synth, this kind of demonstrations is hard to find these days on youtube.
Not to mention the programmed drum sounds (which I haven't even realized could be possible on my minibrute) tend to start and stop occasionally without triggering the loop effect. However, I love the performance and song and I'm sure Mr. Abreo could pull this off near perfect if not nearer perfect in a live non-edited session. I fully appreciate this video!
Oh my Christ this guy totally nailed it Now I'm buying a unit. but seriously arturia should really give like money or something to Jacobo because that was awesome.
Very nice use of the synths and looper. I wish Arturia would make a keyless version (desktop module) for me to put next to my Analog Experience Laboratory keyboard.
Arturia have contracts working with the Greats like Moog and Oberheim...They are the new kids on the block that no one can F with!!! Everything I have from them is nothing short of amazing and the price is always nice...Great company!!
In terms of single oscillator monosynths, the ARP Axxe is the standout one for me. The Pro One would probably be another, though I've never played one myself. In more general terms, any synth that sounds alive and dynamic, or evocative and tonally beautiful would be an example. Of course it depends on the player as well, but that's why I keep listening to demos of the MiniBrute, to see if eventually someone may get something more expressive from it.
More: @1:43, he plays a G major chord, G-B-D-G. The bassline @0:25 is played in D minor, the key the whole song is in (the real key is somewhere between C# and D, but I digress). The chord we're hearing arpeggiated there is D minor, the root chord of the song, and it's not even the same shape (D-F-D-F). But that's all really splitting hairs compared to the fact that he's somehow able to take a guitar solo @2:31 while the loopers seem to know EXACTLY how the rest of the song goes...
That's true, and I heard a modulation on the arpeggiator about 2:17 that mysteriously happens without the stage left brute being touched. Still impressive and very skillful but I'd rather see raw action over edited.
Pre-programmed or not it takes time and creativity. I try to make music my self, I am not good, but i know the time it takes. He still made a nice track even if what you said is true. He should release this song to last.fm and itunes.
The mini-brute is not a synth with presets or memory of any sort. You have to adjust all the parameters to do that. 8-9 seconds to create a patch and then play it is definitely fast. Maybe he's just adjusting filter and decay. By itself, that was only a curiosity, but combined with the difference in guitar playing, it seemed inauthentic.
Great vid and nice showcase of the Minibrute, a new classic. Korg and Roland should take note, oh wait they're too busy making boring ass workstations.
Naaa Arturia is years ahead and actually works along side Moog and Oberheim...They have the best shit out and the best to come...Look out!!! Its about to get funky!
1) At first I was completely puzzled by your comment. I've given it some thought and I'm guessing you've concluded my comments refer to the musician and not to the synth? To be honest, I don't know. Every demo I hear of this synth sounds bad to me, so I'm guessing it's the synth. But I really don't know - maybe someone will get something good from it eventually. That's why I check out new demos when someone draws my attention to them....
too much pumping due to brickwall limmiting >.> And yes, i hope that the Minibrute will stomp onto the ground and wake up some other synth companies as well. We need more new ANALOG gear! I hope there will be a Ultrabrute sometimes with bigger keyboard and 3 VCOs.
Easy isnt always better.. Every video I see which demonstrates hardware people always comment on how you can do the same thing with a DAW. for me music is about having fun, and hardware (and loopers on the floor :P) is alot more fun than sitting behind your PC programming a digital sequencer :) just saying
still i wish there was a remake of the real korg ms-20 soon, korg needs a kick in the balls to make something with really analog balls like this again :D
I agree 100%. I have watched every video I could find about this synth. Your description of it being "unpleasant or characterless" is exactly how the MiniBrute sounds. Often it seems like just a buzzy analog mess with nothing that makes it more special than anything else. Everything in this video could have easily been done with some other small synth or a laptop and software. Buyers are fooling themselves into believing this synth is something completely new and different.
ok, i love the minibrute but this is obviously secuensed. there are fills and breaks in the drums pathern that no one is controling, for example, so it would be cool that you don't try to make it seams it's a live performance.
thats a good point who is sequencing the drum drops not to live now is it? what i get a kick out of is theres a jupiter 8 , CS80,minimoog,prophets 5 and and a ob-xa in the back round and he is using minibrutes lol..... don't get it twisted i think the minibrute is a great machine but i don't think i could pay attention to it in a room like that
Woow super mec ! Bon, comme tout le reste derrière te sert visiblement a rien, bah tu peut tout me filer gratos pour te débarrasser car ca encombre et ta faillis cogner ta gratte deux fois...krrrrrrrooooouuuuummmm merci :-D
2) I think I should add that I'm not one of those people who hate Arturia for some reason. I've actually spoken well of them, helped defend them from their detractors, and made my own demos of their softsynths. I think there's a real need for a relatively cheap analogue monosynth. But everything I hear of this one is either unpleasant or characterless. It always sounds cheap and nasty (in the original bad way) and always lacks feeling. So it probably isn't the player's fault. But I live in hope.
Each to their own, but this video barely scratches the surface of what the MB can sound like or do. It's a quick and dirty analog best of in line with what would appear to be Arturia's ideal musician image. Most of the demos are pushing the osc mixer too hard and overdriving everything. It's actually quite malleable when the life isn't being squeezed out of it. Also, supersaw and metallizer in an all analog format like this AREN'T things that are being done in analog outside of modulars.
That was the most awesome performance I have seen in a while. This guy is very good at this.
And yes it sounds terrific!
This is probably one of the most amazing things I know of.
Love the tune. Love the attitude. Good to see someone who's not standing by DJ decks for once. The synth delivers brilliant sounds and such a large sound palette. Rock'n Roll's back!!!
By far the best Minibrute demo on the web. Nice work!
thanks for this demo, to me, playing an actual song utilizing different functionalities truly showcases capabilities of a synth, this kind of demonstrations is hard to find these days on youtube.
I must say that was incredible.
¡Fabuloso, felicidades desde Barcelona, Spain!
I'm going to buy one of these soon, they are analog and they sound great, at a very reasonable price.
Oh my Christ
this guy totally nailed it
Now I'm buying a unit.
but seriously arturia should really give like money or something to Jacobo because that was awesome.
this is excellent. Nicely done!
Excelente, inspirador. Gracias Jacobo
That was the most musically talented thing I've seen in a long time.
ahahaha! ahah.. ah?
You said it Adam, that's about all the appliances I'd want in my dream kitchen.
That is talent right there!
Badass vid!
Inspirador... Cali represent!!!
Very nice use of the synths and looper.
I wish Arturia would make a keyless version (desktop module) for me to put next to my Analog Experience Laboratory keyboard.
Wow.... Absolutely mind blowing.
Super awesome! I wanna play like that!
just great!!
Great performance...
Thats pretty awesome.
Really nice!
That was cool!
stunning
Sehr geil !!
Sehr sehr geil !!! Viele Grüße! Mario
Arturia have contracts working with the Greats like Moog and Oberheim...They are the new kids on the block that no one can F with!!! Everything I have from them is nothing short of amazing and the price is always nice...Great company!!
Just found I need one of those
Great !
Nice!
Badass !
Damn. A Prophet-5, Jupiter-8, Oberheim OB-8, Minimoog..... and a fuckin' CS-80. This guy must be LOADED!
Excellent I like it
Great video. I was not considering Minibrute but now... What make/model are the loop pedals by the way?
In terms of single oscillator monosynths, the ARP Axxe is the standout one for me. The Pro One would probably be another, though I've never played one myself. BIG UP!
What kind of keyboard stands is he using?
kritzelbrabp That's the first thing I thought when the video started.
+kritzelbrabp
Millenium BS-500 Set
Kostas Tsirikos
Thanks!
Any ideas on the brand and model of the loopers?
Boss
Boss ME 80
that is badass
How does he keep the arppregiator synced in this video?
More: @1:43, he plays a G major chord, G-B-D-G. The bassline @0:25 is played in D minor, the key the whole song is in (the real key is somewhere between C# and D, but I digress). What kind of keyboard stand is that in the background.
How does he do the break at 1:42?
damn this guy is a beast!
wow MAN
Total french touch in general
how did he connect the guitar to the minibrute??
+Luis Miguel Pérez Vega th-cam.com/video/LlN1_LajMrE/w-d-xo.html
That's true, and I heard a modulation on the arpeggiator about 2:17 that mysteriously happens without the stage left brute being touched. Still impressive and very skillful but I'd rather see raw action over edited.

Was nützen die schönsten Werbevideos, wenn der Synth nirgendwo zu haben ist?

He probably did that in the mix afterwards. I doubt this track sounded like this directly after being recorded
Great vid and nice showcase of the Minibrute, a new classic. Korg and Roland should take note, oh wait they're too busy making boring ass workstations.
as it sounds like drums ?
LA WEA MAAAAAALAAAAAAA!!!!
dudes is that a Jupiter 8 in the back ground???
Am I the only one hearing the almost identical "Justice - Phantom Pt 2" lead?
Is it Trent Reznor on the picture behind?
Yeah it is. I didn't even notice it until I read your comment.
+Coltou I thought it was himself, having a studio picture of yourself in your own studio, isn't it great? xD
Siiiiiiick.
Nice song but he's not playing live looping phrases. At 2:23 drums fade out without doing anything.
word to that, VST MS-20 just doesn't cut it
Naaa Arturia is years ahead and actually works along side Moog and Oberheim...They have the best shit out and the best to come...Look out!!! Its about to get funky!

sounds like Justice

He surely needed those sunglasses
waaa :o
They are Jaspers stands. Good value for money. Get them from Thomann.
Nice demo ... but you can put laptop with Ableton + controller and do the same thing easier, faster, more flexible and without 2 loopers on the floor.
yeas
still i wish there was a remake of the real korg ms-20 soon, korg needs a kick in the balls to make something with really analog balls like this again :D
i could swear this was miami horror if i didnt know it was this guy
it would of been cool if it was real... like how is the bass changing towards the end, and how are the drums changing without him doing anything? ...
the 1980's called. they said whats up?
re cheto
Looks like a Boss ME-70.
Justice inspired
The loopers quite obviously have a life of their own (As in: it cannot possibly be live)
You have to be eating your words now with the ms20mini announcement ;)
Just jizzed my pants
Picture of Trent Reznor in the back.
Arturia.....Ummmm Yes I will!!!

nice demo, but the guitar impro was a joke lmao
do a search on google for arpeggiator then maybe you will understand whats happening here.
