I was NEVER a card collector but I was the exact right age for the 1980s Garbage Pail Kids craze. I have vague memories of riding my diamond back down the street to the Stop-N-Go and buying packs of GPKs. For some reason, this memory even has a soundtrack. Cyndi Lauper's "Goonies R Good Enough"
Some of the art in those Wolverine cards you have reminded me of another sticker set that I collected at the tail end of 80s. Marvel had a great sticker set out, slightly smaller than cards. The stickers featured iconic comic images printed on super glossy paper stock. I never stuck them to anything, just collected them as cards. This also reminds of the Pannii sticker books from the 80s. I only collected and finished the Voltron Pannii book but I was proud of that and it was impressive at the time
I had the Voltron sticker book!
The Marvel Universe cards were my favorite as a kid because they had a lot of info about powers on the backs but I also loved the art on Marvel Masterpiece.
Marvel Universe cards were great!
Loved this format. Please do more old school marvel cards and maybe some DC. X-Men hype again.
I have to see how complete some of my other card sets are. I know my buddy Ryan from Monster FX has some complete sets.
I still have a few marvel cards from 1994, im not into wolverine anymore but this would have been the coolest thing back in 93 or 94. would be the coolest kid in town twith this set for sure
For sure!
Wow I can't believe I never knew these existed... 1992 that was the peak of me into Marvel trading cards. It started off with the impel Marvel Universe cards and every subsequent series thereafter but it really capped off nicely for me with Marvel masterpieces... Those still GOATED to this day
Yeah, Masterpiece was awesome!
I always wanted to collect cards back in my kiddie days especially when the release of those DC and Marvel cards
Yeah, I loved both series!
The only card series I ever got into was the 200 card G.I.JOE Impel series. I finally completed it last year after working on it for 30 years. Back in the 90s, card series were an awesome way to learn and get the back history. The artwork was often amazing. Hopefully, I'll someday finish up the 1992 Impel G.I. Joe Hall of Fame 20 card series and the 1993 Impel series for the abandoned G.I.JOE movie. Another interesting card series to me is the Operation Desert Storm series.
I think I'm missing 1 card from the GI Joe set.
I remember collecting a lot of yu gi oh cards as a kid, and pokemon cards, but a lot less of those. Also I understand that the reason black widow is so old is because she had a version of the super soldier serum that basically keeps her from aging, at least that was the explanation in the avengers animated show
Oh, well that makes sense.
This set came out when I was in middle school and was when I started card collecting. Never seen this set before. Definitely looking forward to your other card sets complete or not. My first box purchased was the Impel 92 X-Men all drawn by Jim Lee. Pulled 3 holograms from it and was super happy cuz the odds were 2 per box iirc Unfortunately it got thrown away not by me.
Cards from this era aren't very resistant to aging. I Iive fairly close to the sea, the high humidity aids the yellowing of the cardstock. Which is why I stopped collecting cards and comics in 2003 and moved to figures 😁 My collection is mostly Marvel stuff (no masterpiece sets cuz I prefer reading bios, stats and stories on the cardback), Star Trek and Star Wars (including the Decipher CCGs) and some early Pokemon TCG due to the craze then.
Yeah, I want to do another Card Set video soon.
I love ALL types of trading cards. Just recently I purchased some based on the Book of Boba Fett Disney series
I haven't bought any modern trading cards recently, besides Pokémon cards for my step sons.
I have about two of that set and most of the holographic cards!
Nice!
I have a fair amount of card sets from the late 80s to late 90s. I recently noticed a whole bunch were rubberbanded and the bands have all snapped or (in some cases) kind of melted and stuck to the top and bottom cards.
Are they complete sets?
@@Pegwarmers A few; mostly not.
@@joshua2814 I have very few complete sets, but if you have any complete sets... Maybe they can be episodes.
@@Pegwarmers I’ll take a look again and get back to you.
I hate when they draw wolverine's claws curved like they did on card number 6. They are bones covered middle they are straight, If they were curved like that they wouldn't be able to go in and out of his hand
Yeah, it's kind of funny.
please do an episode on spider man toys, loved the mcfarlane epidsode ! or even a episode on top marvel legends
We will see what we can do.
Are u excited for Deadpool wolverine
Yes I am! Part of the reason I did this episode.
