    Very cool design--it's so bright! I think I saw a flash dryer in there, do you flash between colors with discharge? Also, you are amazing at coating screens. I swear, you never get a thick line on the sides and it's so even and perfectly rectangle. Ack! How do you do it! Love the video as always--nice work:)

    • @squeegeeandink
      @squeegeeandink  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, we didn't use the flash for this because we wanted to print it wet on wet. That position of the flash is just where it lives but I think using the flash wouldn't hurt. I did ask Magna Colours and they suggested allowing all the discharging to happen in the conveyor dryer was optimal. The coating screens is mainly down to my scoop coater (the pro-angle from Screen Print World discount code CRP5) it basically skims off the extra beading and makes me look good! haha.

    Still toying with the idea of jumping into using MagnaColours - quick question as I have a Big Buddy dryer what settings do you have to run these inks? As it doesn’t display in centigrade?
    Thanks in advance

      Yes discharge ink is typically water based, this is from Magna Colours and is really fun!

    I wish I had the room for a multi press, I only have 1 manual press and cannot figure out how to do multiple colors

      Hope you get one soon. You can do a lot with just one screen though. We defiantly started with a single colour press. What are you printing at the moment?

    This is an absolutely amazing print! One question, how long in the tunnel dryer?

    • @squeegeeandink
      @squeegeeandink  ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as possible ideally 2½ - 3 minutes at 170°C (340°F) we had to have the dryer on the slowest possible speed. Much easier in a large forced air dryer.

    All wet on wet ? I have a friend who print Magna inks and can't print wet on wet. What mesh did you use ? Nice print by the way.

      is not wet on wet!! one pass from flash dryer!!! you can print wet on wet with discharge but you need perfect registration!!

    • @squeegeeandink
      @squeegeeandink  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this was wet on wet. Typically that is how auto's print discharge too as they want to do as few rotations as possible, so this was our attempt. It worked great. If you started having lifting off or other issues you could start putting the flash on but that will dry out your screens more quickly.

    • @squeegeeandink
      @squeegeeandink  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, we did this one wet on wet. If we started having print problems we could do a few flashes but thankfully didn't need to for this.

    I say you did a really nice job with that print, discharge is tricky at times on certain garments and can be a pain in the butt, but you guys knocked it out.

    First, I have to tell you, I am a big fan of yours. I do print Tshirts, but as a hobby and nowhere near the technical degree that you do. 1st question. I notice that in your darkroom where you coat screens, you have yellow neon lightening bolt. Does that work as your “safe light.” Is that safe to use? 2nd question. Do you use water based inks. If you do, how do you keep the ink from drying in the screens?

    • @squeegeeandink
      @squeegeeandink  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Randy, I am sure I answered this before but I can't see my answer. - The fluorescent lights have a UV yellow blocker sleeve on them in the darkroom. I prevent them drying by misting the ink with water and trying not to use the flash too much, also keeping a thick layer of ink on the screen in between printing. Its not possible to stop it all together but that helps. You can also add retarders if you find you're struggling.

    Amazing!!! Is not necessary use a Flash dryer between colors!? And how you clean the materials after finish the job , inks , squeegees, screens? Water? Solvents? Thanks a lot for the info ! Amazing job!!!

    • @squeegeeandink
      @squeegeeandink  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, this is discharge water based, so I would just wash them off with water. There is a wet on wet technique without using a flash which can work well if you have hot platens to start out with. You can always switch to flashing quickly between colours but the discharge process is best when the shirt discharges in the conveyor dryer. - Chessie
