    Hey man. Cool video. I've been printing for years but I've never used discharge. I want to use plasticharge, just the plastisol with the discharge additive. Most of my artwork is 4-6 colors, nearly all of it is sim process, or at least multi shades of similar colors for effect. Point being, the colors go wet on wet and mix.
    Can you please tell me, how will this be effected by the discharge additive if the colors touch and mix. Do you have any experience with this? Id really appreciate it if you can give be a run down on this.

      @leestuart38  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Tim.McElheny
      @Tim.McElheny 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee Stuart I’ve read that if the fan is too strong then it can pull some of the heat out of the chamber and cause curing issues. I’m guessing that you can dial in the dryer to compensate for that though. Plus, your exhaust looks like it’s lengthy so maybe that is helping keep the temperature constant in chamber

    Lee can you cure discharge in a heat press?

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've honestly never tried so I can't say for sure. I know it wouldn't be optimal though because those waters/solvents/gasses need to escape out of the fabric during the cure and a heat press would definitely make that very difficult

    • @20vK
      @20vK 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can. Open a couple of times to release vapour. But you need very very good ventilation, because the vapour from discharge is likely to cause cancer. Leukemia, in particular. You really don't want that. Please be super careful.

  • @Vega23

  • @hotboxprintstudio
    @hotboxprintstudio 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love this stuff and it’s super versatile but I really do not have the appropriate shop setup for it sadly. Also, ventilation is vital if you don’t wanna die so I rarely print this ink system but I love the end result.

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ventilation is definitely an issue with this stuff. I run the 3M 6006 cartridges on my respirator to filter out the formaldehyde and sulfate and it's actually very workable. The shop just stinks for 3 days after 😂

    • @hotboxprintstudio
      @hotboxprintstudio 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee Stuart yeah smells like ass. Absolutely love the end byproduct of plasticharge tho. I did a test to combat people saying it wasn’t possible with a flash a few years back to see if they were right (they were wrong)... it’s totally possible, but it is super time consuming as noted and also even worse with no ventilation system to pull fumes out. Also not a fan of the ink waste that needs to go in the bin afterward that may not get used as it’s horribly bad for the environment. But I digress haha.

    "It's something that will take years to perfect." So true on every level of screen printing. Learning to push\pull the squeegee, loading the shirts, burning the screens, learning the best inks, learning the cure process, learning to print smooth, learning off contact. Learning problem solving. Then you see water-based, then you see simulated process, then you see discharge printing. It never ends and it all takes years to perfect.. like nypsey said. I'm too far into it, I can't quit now better just keep pushing.. lol they say I want to learn how to print shirts.. I say I wouldn't recommend it... 😆 🤣 😂

    Wouldn't it be better to discharge the base, then use reduced ink to over print, rather than putting discharge in all the colors?

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the case of my health, definitely. I wanna stay away from discharge as much as possible. But in this case he wanted zero hand feel on the shirt and going all discharge is the only way to do that.
