    Standard transmission vehicles also have the benefit of theft deterrent in North America.

    If they just put 2 big exhausts on each side it would look way better, but they have 2 small ones

    Nice ride!
    Could do without the radio augmented exhaust note.
    Why bother?
    Second car I owned 1973 Datsun 610..4 speed..needed 6

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha! A lot of those older cars needed an extra gear or two, Torsee. I had a 3-speed auto '69 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351c.i. V8. Definitely needed more gears in the highway. And the augmented engine sound is becoming the norm on these newer cars because they are made so quiet. Even the current-gen Mustangs do it now. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Thanks for watching!

      Augmented exhaust? I own the car and it's exhaust is just it's exhaust, nothing special to listen to like an N which has incredible sound
      Mazda is just a blast to drive and that's all that really matters

      It's not radio augmented, it's called a sound tube...and it's easily removable

    • @rickmanley767
      @rickmanley767 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mazda does not pipe in engine sound through the stereo like the Nissan does. It simply uses an actual real tube that runs sound from the intake manifold to the car’s interior. It’s easily removable if you don’t like it.

    As someone who had a 2008 Miata and 2017 RF, I can say it's a blast to drive
    The car actually has good legroom, I'm 6'1" and never had an issue. The 6 speed manual is smooth and because it weighs so little, the engine is very good and it's really quick. Love the car and your review nailed it

    There is THRTEE main problems with the MX5 Miata. One, a total lack of any type of storage space, except maybe for a pair of gloves. Two, the solenoid activated clutch pedal ruins the driver engagement. Three, the engine they use is 2.0 when they have 2.5.

    • @mrnrfan182
      @mrnrfan182 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If storage space is a deterrent, this was never the car for you. The trunk can fit a couple of carry on suitcases. The middle cubby between the seats can easily accommodate all of the needed paperwork for the car (manual, reg, insurance) and there’s still additional room for sunglasses and gloves if you want. There’s also additional storage cubbies behind each seat (soft top) if you truly need more.
      As for the clutch, that’s subjective. Many people regard this transmission as one of the best. Heel, toe placement is unrivaled. There are ways to address the clutch feel but I’ve only drive two other cars (BRZ / Type R) that held a candle to how the MX-5 setup felt. It may not be “perfect” but it’s close.
      Many Miata enthusiasts think the 1.5 is the best engine for this car.
