Really love the style of this video and the personality of it. Even as a non-car guy viewer, it’s interesting to watch.

The funny thing about your comment regarding the RF top having more components, with more potential to go wrong... there are no complaints, or not enough to have bubbled up to the surface to be discussed by folks, but there are tons and TONS of complaints regarding the soft top; wear, rips, broken clips, broken frames, and many more. All of which usually get replaced under warranty, meaning that they occur during the 36 month/36k mile bumper to bumper warranty. Look it up, everything I just said is true. Having said that, I have a soft top for many reasons, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being worried.

haha Yea... saying a new Japanese car would have a mechanical roof failure is definitely a moot point--I'm used to European cars where that happens all too often.
Interesting how the soft top has problems...I still would like to drive one back to back with the RF to see if it feels any lighter though!

My daily driver 2020 MX-5 RF GT has 20k miles and the top functions like new even though I open and close it at least once a day. Very simple mechanism, I expect it to last as long as the power windows.

Having owned a NA and now a ND, your bang on about the two. Still love my old ‘97 NA and wish I didn’t have to get rid of it when I started a family, but the ND2 RF I have now does a very good job giving me what I want. Nothing beats the original though.

It is not fast, but it is incredibly fun at high speed driving, and everything else.

If you don't like it then spend 75 to 150k on a Vette!! Me, I'll stick to this for under 40k. Enough fizz at that price point. Lol

So sick of 'too cool for school' reviewers saying the Miata is slow. It's actually plenty quick and it feels even quicker because of it's simple light weight design. I've become really annoyed with the obsession with 500hp+ sports cars that most wannabe racing drivers couldn't handle if they tried. The Miata is actually the car most enthusiasts SHOULD want, but they want bigger numbers just for bragging rights or some such nonsense. It's truly idiotic.

My first miata was an NA 1990 and I switch for ND RF and no regret. I prefer my ND all day long. More reliable, more comfortable, more power for almost the same weigh. For me it is a win upgrade. I use it on track and my god this car is fun.

The suspension sits too high for the perfect driving manners.
Ive owned my 2021 MD from new, and the installation of the Eibach Sportline springs and Bilstein shocks, has transformed the ride of my car.
Its no firmer than the original suspension, which was surprising, but body roll has been virtually eliminated and the handling has been transformed.
Its by far the best modification you can carry out to your MD

Good review. I don't know if I agree with the beer vs dom perignon though lol. I have a GTC4 Lusso. Sure, it's not the craziest Ferrari out there...about the same performance as a $65k RS3 from 0-60 to be honest, but I love the performance, luxury, refinement and practicality of this car combined. I also have a 2020 ND2 RF and I really love driving this car as well. If I have to pick, I would say that I enjoy driving the Miata more. It makes me happier while performing the act of driving the car itself. The GTC4 makes me happy in other ways, but not really its driving dynamics. It's more so the "Ferrari" aspect of the car and the exterior/interior designs; I love the way it looks, and it also sounds amazing.

    • @TheSpeedyGuidy
      @TheSpeedyGuidy  ปีที่แล้ว

I'd argue that the GTC4 is the least "Ferrari" of all the modern Ferraris. It's one badass family hauler that can do it all. I personally love it. It's definitely the coolest daily ever. The Dom analogy was probably better suited to a more exotic model like an F8. I think having more than one kind of drink in your bar is more important than having the most impressive champagne collection :)

First off: is that a Pluto Moonswatch?
Second re slowcarfastfastcarslow: oh 100%, one of my driving favorite memories was driving a 2001 Honda insight manual, on a twisty road I knew pretty well, at night. I couldn’t have been going faster than 35? 37? Mph but I was giggling like an idiot the entire time 🤌

I'll be honest... I have never driven the NB or NC so I can't tell ya if it's an upgrade-- but what I can tell you is that this car is a perfectly fine daily and fun canyon carver for weekends. It definitely seems to have an edge on quality over past gens.
