Wasn't going so scientific as you, but yeah! Got the double-port version as car charger and works wery neat... My old car-plug charger wasn't able to feed my phone (old HuaweiP8) while running navigation and my wife's Phone was plugged to the other port. Now I put this litlle bastard where my ashtray was so it has some airflow to cool down and navi runs, both phones plugged, no arguing between phones, both get what they need and no battery drop while i'm driving... So I also can recommend those circuits...
However thank you for temp measurements. I know it will be bit sure to put a heat sink on it and maybe a small silent fan to let it work in comfort conditions. So thanks for it! :)

Ive searched allot for a solution to this but have come up short of info. I think this module could abe a key to the answer. What else would i need ? Any help would be super appreciated.

Great testing and tinkering! thank you for the video! Any idea on the parasitic power draw? AKA- how much power is consumed when nothing is plugged into the usb port?
Do you know the efficiency of this device? input power / output power.
I'm wondering if the input voltage determines the efficiency level and/ or temperature during max power.

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Here is what I pulled from the Ebay listing in the video description.Input voltage range: 6V-32V DC
Output voltage: default 5V, automatic adjustment between 3~12V after fast charge is triggered.
      Output power: maximum 24W (5V@3.4A, 9V@2.5A, 12V@2A, etc.)
      Output voltage wired compensation
      Conversion efficiency: 90%~97%
      Supports multiple fast charging protocols
      Input overvoltage, overcurrent, undervoltage protection
      Output overcurrent, short circuit protection
      Module over temperature protection
Support agreement: BC1.2, QC2.0, QC3.0, MTK PE1.1/PE2.0, Apple, Samsung AFC, Huawei FCP, Spreadtrum SFCP.
Product size: 34x17x9.5mm (not including 1mm of USB female seat protrusion)
I tested it with my USB tester and I seriously could not measure a draw from the circuit when it is just powered up so I connected my meter to it and it was drawing 3.8mA at idle. I hope that helps. Thanks

good extensive review. I think qc3.0 specs say that max draw @12v should not exceed 1.5A. You were pulling 1.7A so thats above what it should do.

  • @chipsian

if you use 3 battery cells, the voltage will be increased in a series connection and the mAh in a parallel connection. Does this mean that if you connect the cells in parallel, you have a longer battery life or how does it work exactly? Because seen in such a way are still 3 cells. I wanted to build a bluetooth loudspeaker. The board needs 12V and I wanted to use a step up converter, but the lowest I found is 2V min. for the input voltage, and I haven't found a battery cell which has more than 2V?

Did you ever try running with input voltage of 30V? It might be able to go higher than 12V? A good 12V device is a 70W LED 7000lm cob. The CV CA buck converter would be a good driver for it.

I put 30.7V into it at the 4:25 mark. I just tested it at 31.5V which is 0.5V lower than the max and it still will not trigger the 20V but I am very happy with it's performance regardless. It is my primary USB charger for my Samsung Note 4 and I will be using it soon on a Samsung Note 8. It works very well. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. Have you came across any device that can allow quick charge while also connected to laptop port for data transfer at the same time, in the other word to give quick charge ability to a laptop USB port, the reason for this is that my pixel 3a phone charges too slowly on the 5 volt UBS port in fact it charges slower that it consumes power i.e. my power bank is not able to charge this phone just for the same reason, with thanks for your great video.

Have you had this problem yourself? Here's my personal experience. I have had this module plugged into my car to fast charge my phone since I made the video. I have heat shrink tubing surrounding the module to protect it and I have not had a single problem with it at all. It's worked and continues to work perfectly regardless of the fact that it is encased in heat shrink tubing. I live in Texas so the interior of my car when it's parked in the sun regularly goes to 120+ F and still it's working exactly as it should. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. These are nonstandard modules. Different companies, different production standards... I guess the quality varies depending on these factors.

I would never use it on 5v and 3a because it shows in your video(volt reducing is never good, shows it is Somthing wrong, maybe a big heat sink would help) it can only handle it a short time, max 2a at 5v, 10watt for longer but never more for longer periods

I am usually putting 15V into it at 1.5A (old laptop power pack) and it works great. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

i bought this module and i'm very disappointed because this module didn't support iphone X,11 and above series(latest model).. but i still charge my old apple model using this module, like iphone 6plus, ipad mini 2 and ipad air 2..
