There are a lot of misinterpretation in this comment section. Firstly, although the newly formed government NUG has some members of NLD party, the majority members of NLD are either killed, imprisoned or left the party so NLD party is no longer relevant in Myanmar Politics. Second, while the NLD never pursue federalism during their rule, the NUG's primary goal is to build a federal democratic nation after the junta's fall. That's why some of the biggest ethnic rebel groups support and fight alongside with the NUG and PDF. Finally, this isn't the fight between Bamar majority and ethnic groups, this is a fight between the military junta and the entire population regardless of race and religion.

Let India also draw important lessons. It is ruling the NE states through the military empowered with the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). The AFSPA is modelled after the British Act which was enacted to suppress the Indian freedom movement. Newly independent India made it more draconian and enacted the AFSPA in 1955 and applied it first against the Nagas. Instead of solving the political conflict peacefully in an honourable manner, the AFSPA enforcement continues till today. The AFSPA should be totally repealed.

The junta won’t survive this rebellion. Burma may split up as a result of the insurrection now taking place in the Asian country. China seems to be supporting both sides by arming the rebels and giving military support to the authorities in Rangoon.
That is so true unless the lady who won the last election take the presidential position as intended which could stabilize and slowly bring investor confidence again.
Or maybe they won't. Maybe they can bring back President Aung San Suu Kyi. Maybe they can reunite the country, and with a better constitution this time to prevent another coup, respect all the various ethnic groups, and bring Myanmar forward in the world. The army has been the only hindrance to democracy there. If she can get rid of it, a joint partnership can be created among the 3 brother alliance and a new army.

For example Shan State Army - South has nothing to do with China. China is still very wary of the NUG because it considers it too pro-Western so they don´t support PDF neither.

Not since 1988. It was a 'military democracy,' as in the junta was moving towards or at least pretending to support democratic reforms until it slid backwards again and now just a complete military dictatorship. The rebels are fighting for a real federal democracy. Hopefully they can succeed.
