  • This video covers detailed disassembling procedures for a 1976 Rochester Quadrajet carburetor for a Chevrolet or GM vehicle with an automatic transmission.
I deleted the old original video since it was over an hour long with too much commentary and segments that had little to do with taking the carburetor apart. This one is a lot shorter and to the point.
The Quadrajet used for this demonstration is a 750 CFM carb which is-for all intents and purposes-identical to an 800 CFM carb. Both models were used in some C3 Corvettes with Chevy Small Blocks.
I hope you find this detailed video helpful should you decide to take your Quadrajet carburetor apart to rebuild it.
I used the ACDelco Carburetor Repair Kit sold by Amazon which includes the bearing ball, all clips, gaskets, screws, seals, and more. amzn.to/2SBg4tw
The Dorman 10-piece Carburetor Inlet Gasket Assortment is also available through Amazon. amzn.to/2Tkbjos
To reseal the carburetor well plugs (primary and secondary), you can use either: J-B Weld Dark Grey TankWeld Gas Tank Repair (amzn.to/2P23yCr) or J-B Weld MarineWeld Marine Epoxy (amzn.to/38lWUyb). They both work well. Don't use regular epoxy. You must use one that is impervious to fuel.

Your videos have been a life saver since I got my 76 in January. You inspire a lot of confidence that it's possible to fix about anything on these cars

Thanks, Andrew. With the right information, anyone can fix these cars, and I’m glad to hear that my videos have been helpful and maybe, in a small way, given you the confidence and/or motivation to wrench on your 76 Vette. 😊👍🏻

I’m about to rebuild my 75 vette’s carb. This will help me to remember how to pull it apart and put it back together. It’s been over 30 years since I rebuilt a quadrajet. Kind of forget about things after so long. Thanks for a great video

Awesome. I can rebuild a holley with my eyes closed, never played with a Qjet at all. I have a couple lying around in storage, this will motivate me to pull them out and tinker with them. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks! I’ll have to find a used Holley at a swap meet one of these days so I can try my hand at rebuilding one. 😊👍🏻

Hello sir. Another very informative video that you offer us there. One thing calls out to me, why are you plugging the carburetor well plugs? I think I finally find my lovely at an Ohio dealership, this is a corvette 76 automatic transmission for $ 15,990. Do you think this is a good price? Thank you.

Hello. Quadrajet well plugs were done at the factory, but they are prone to leaking, so the only solution is to replug them. You can do it mechanically which can be time-consuming or, as most do, just plug them by adding a layer of gasoline-impervious epoxy.
As far as your '76 Corvette for $15,990 it does sound like a fair price, but it all hinges on the overall condition of the vehicle which-without seeing it in person-I am unable to say whether you got a good deal or not.
If the seller is reputable, then you have little to worry about. Having said that, all used vehicles will need some attention.
Best of luck with your purchase. I am sure you must be excited about it. 🙂👍

@@76vette Hello sir. Thank you for your reply. I learn about this car every day. I may have found what I was looking for with a seller in Ohio. A 76 that an expert is going to check out and you are right, I am very excited that it will hopefully be mine soon.😊... Good day, greetings from France.

I've got another question. On the (heat choke), does the cover spring go against the side of that lever that's inside the housing? I noticed that inside lever has a slot cut into it. So I was wondering if that 3/4 square box on the end of the spring goes into that slot or just against the outside of the lever. Hope that makes sense. Thanks.

If I understand you correctly, Yes! And I think this video is going to give you a good basic understanding of how that spring and system works. 😊👍🏻 th-cam.com/video/fjtYePcu22A/w-d-xo.html
