Review as a new owner of a 5008 GT Line Peugeot ( Its long I know) As a Swede, Peugeot cars are rare on the roads (lots of old Volvos), and not really mentioned that much, but as I needed to look after a car that suits a family of 4 children, I turned my head to the Peugeot car dealer. My first impression when I saw the car, and sat down and touched the I-cockpit I felt impressed. Design, and the feeling of quality were direct and instant. I needed though a car as I mentioned to travel with 4 kids, and the seatings are very nice. You can change how they should be in every possible way, and it suits me perfect. With fewer kids in the car, they have a living room back there, and the back row are the favorite spot for the younger ones. As you might get it now, I bought a 5008 GT line, lots of extra extra, and Ive had it now for 4 months and I just wanted to leave a comment that might help other buyers. My thoughts so far and I will only mention the negatives (remember, its MY thoughts, not a freaking science report): Negatives: - As mentioned before I think, the position of the left foot when your driving longer haults, and you wanna rest it on the preferred spot aint good. Im not that tall, but my legposition when resting my left leg aint great. You need to stretch it behind the brakepedal to stretch it out. No biggie really, but people having said this before are 100% right. - I feel the touchscreen in the middle of the cockpit and the processor behind the interlay are a bit slow. Hard to explain, you need to mix with it, try it out in action for a longer period of testing, but just a quick example: When reducing the volume of the radio, or whatever sound you might have on, its a delay of showing it on the screen, and it feels like a slow computer that have a shortage of RAM memory. This is also not a big issue, but everyone that know the feeling of a slow computer or smartphone can relate to this. - What else, well Im used with engines with almost 300hp and when i went for a testdrive with the car the cardealer had, it was the weakest engine, dont remember the spec now (105hp?), but I´ve read reviews that it was totally ok to have that even though this is a big 7-seater. I really cant say it is. I might be spoiled, but it aint much fun when the sound from the car feels strained and you really cant get the car moving. I went for the 165hp petrol and with a light turbo this engine is fine, but of course not a powerhouse. Best part, having cars before that I needed to refuel all the time , this 5008 GT are very fuel-efficent. - The drivers seat. I guess you can have the choice as an add-on, but the length of the drivers seat, well both front seats, could be longer for your legs and bum. Hope you understand what I mean, and I guess you probably can cash out and get better comfort. There are lots of smooth nice details as positives that I can mention but I guess it aint as interesting to read about really, but if your a big family and like design, a good looking car, but great quality, nice details I really can say, that you cant be dissapointed really. Its not a sportscar, its a family car Royale!
Hi Joakim. How do you travel with 4 kids? Do they stay all in child seats? Can you mount in the third row child seat? Do you have also a roof box for lugage?
I'd expect taller drivers be more tolerant, because they are used to squeezing in everywhere. Or because you're sitting further back, your knee is at a different angle. If you fit, good for you.
One of the main resasons we selected it for was the space in the second row. One of the few cars where a very tall son can still sit with his full upper leg fully carried by the seat and still space in front of the knees to further grow.
We've had the 3008 for almost 9 monhs now, and not sure if you got unlucky but we have zero problems. Also I am 1,90m and never had a single problem getting out?? I also love the steering wheel, especially when you start using another car again...maybe the 5008 is a bit different...
So glad I saw your video after I bought the car not that I would listen to you anyway. I have a 5008 a few months old and it's great! I dumped my super crapy X drive stiff BMW X3 (2 yrs old) after multiple problems with it (of course warranty covers nothing as usual) and went for Peugeot and am extremely happy. Got 5-year full warranty is southern Europe. It's an awesome practical family car. Your review is way too critical. Wish you were this critical about BMW and the other German cars you praise.
Come on, people!!! What you are doing with your 175 or less, so it's not enough space for you?? I'm 185. I have a perfect seat position on driver's place, I was seating very comfortably on the second seat row. No system reboot in almost 4 months. It's an urban crossover and an absence of AWD is not an issue at all. I do agree about the boot lid - it's heavy and with the knob only on one side. The automatic boot lid is very nice and working option, but rather expensive. Front seats and steering wheel are absolutely the same as in 3008, that's why it's strange to hear, that in one car the position is better than in the other. In general the car is very good and worth the money
Interesting. We have the previous 5008, which I find very nice (and also good-looking, but that's a matter of taste). As a long-time Peugeot driver I was happy that for a long time my favourite manufacturer had not hopped on the SUV bandwagon. But now they seem to be trying to make up for being late to the game, and almost everything now pretends to be an off-road vehicle. The compact station wagon (207SW, which I loved for its practicality) has been replaced by the 2008; higher and heavier and with a higher consumption, so I opted for the regular hatchback; and the brilliantly flexible (5/7-seater) and very drivable 5008 MPV is now also an SUV, except that it isn't.
I have a 5008 of the previous generation from 2011 - so for 9 years now - the hassle stowing the luaggage cover when using the 3rd row of seats has always been one of the most irritating parts. Also the unreliable navigation - it used just to reboot, but for several years it doesn’t work at all. The radio etc does - just the navigation doesn’t.
I think the review is much too critical. This is a great car and so is the model before it. French cars are not what it was in the 80’s. They are actually better than German cars now!
That "afterthought" you show between 7:00 - 8:00... I don't get it, why don't you just do the part with the backcover FIRST and then rise the seats in the back row? How can you make this such a big deal?
Imagine you're doing this with kids running around, and you're in a hurry. It should be intuitive. Sure, after a couple of times you'll learn, but this is bad design.
I don't agree. Like many things in a car, workplace or household, just do it in the correct order and there is no problem. If your method was the only method, I could I see the problem. Or point out to the viewers that there is only one good way to do it and move on. But don't do it wrong and claim this is "a problem of design". It's like driving off with the parking brake still on and saying "this is bad design". No, you just forgot to release the parking brake first.
I think the right way is the way I find convenient, not the way manufacturer finds convenient. If you want to use parking brake as an example, in case of electronic parking brakes these self-release, when you start driving, and there is also auto-hold option, so you don't have to engage it by yourself. And that's convenient.
Exactly. I don't mind if there's a valid complaint, but show me one seven seater where you don't have to remove the load cover before putting the last two seats in their place, if you want to use them.
I have tried peugeot 5008 and it was huge Im 193cm long, 130kg in wight i never hit my head och something like what u mentioned. I hade before a renault grand scenic and as the all 7sits cars, its difficult for an adult to sit in the third row I have already ordered 5008 GT LINE PURE TECH Premium Business 180HP
Hello. 196 guy here, looking to buy this car. Are you still satisfied with your driving position? After 3 years what do you think about the car overall?
great review as always but no where does the 5008 pretend to be an off roader !! it is what it is a pretty 7 seater with the option of more luggage room !!!
Hi Marek, great and intuitive review again. After looking your review, and chat we had about Android auto and connectivity of 3008 (U can see it i comment in 3008 review)..I bought that 3008, and told You to get back with the info, after having it. Got it in august,1.6 Diesel Allure.Love it!Absolutely, don t have any regrets. Small annoying thing is the same, somewhat buggy infotainment, when connecting Android Auto..Sometimes i press play on it when AA is connected,it has Deezer incorporated if u have it,and it still playes radio. So u have to unplug USB and plug it again to reset AA. I don t have so many crashes like u mentioned here, maybe a few, nothing to complain about too much. Everything else is very nice and practical. Note to self, buy electrical tailgate and keyless entry if possible,,, :D
Depends on where, and how you drive it. Theoretically in France they are very strict about their speed limits, and there are a lot of speed cameras. So you can have a Ferrari, but still drive behind a 5008, because if you overtake, it's going to cost you.
Your reviews are the best because you critizise aspects that other reviewers ignore, yet are very important, such as leg room, sitting position etc. Its a shame car manufacturers discriminate tall people.
+Kristijan Ljutić thanks. Would you buy one of these?

I wouldn't go for a 5008 because it does not actually fit my needs at the moment. However, I'm a lot into 3008 and see it as a replacement for my Škoda Yeti. Your recent vid about 3008 confirmed to me that French can build a really good car after all. :)
This is a very impressive large economy car. I'm sure that software bugs will soon be updated, as these things are these days. The killesr that ruins or spoils this car for me are the low roofline, an even bigger problem on the 2008 that even my daughter complained about when getting out of the cabin, plus the wide centre console. Otherwise it would be an ideal alternative to a CRV or Qashqai. As it is, it is unfortunately ruled out. I'm about to take my 90 year old mother to a clinic in a CRV, a totally undemanding and painless, roomy vehicle that I almost walk in and out of. No need for the 4wd, which I have on mine. The Peugeot type front wheel drive would do fine. Of course both Qashqai and CRV are available as front wheel drive, so they are actually rivals. The Qashqai is more compact of course, mainly in the second row and luggage compartment.
Infotainment on peugeot may be buggy, but the one on Qashqai is abysmal. Laggy, tends to get "stuck", and even when it works right, it just looks outdated.
You remove the cover first, then unfold the seats.... and you don't need to pull on the strap and pinch your fingers lol, just push the seat in, strap is for lifting it off the floor.... and about the central console being for small people, maybe for slimmer people? But I agree it's quite bulky.
“Peugeot 5008 is another minivan from France, which pretends to be an SUV.” Finally a reviewer says this! I was so tired of all the articles and reviews especially in France who all bought that SUV thing and said it's a pretty good family car for an SUV while the new Grand Scénic still has to compete with MPVs and not with SUVs. That's cheating. Also looking at the price the 5008 should rather be compared to the Espace.
the "previewer" should name this video " i am peugeot hater" with picture of his fussy and pretentious self and the model of question. The only good thing for me after watching few 15 sec long segments from this "presentation" is to never waste my time on this channel again.
You mean how can a car pretend to be a luxury suv when it can't go 60000 km without needing gerabox replacement, and three times consecutively? That's the experience I've had with Mercedes ML automoatic. GLE, pardon.
BillyNoMates1974 tell me a car that hasn’t? it’s just a matter of perspective. I personally found his review ridiculous. I have owned vw cars and Renault cars i had much less troubles overall with my Renault. Plus I m sorry but if you charge a car 10 000 pounds more you are expecting the car to have less problems however if you don t have the 10000 pounds extra you just stop to compare French cars to German cars and you compare them for cars in their category. Then you might realise how good is that car
The look is the only good thing on a SUV, so I replaced the old 5008 with the Ford S-Max. The only stuff i miss is Peugeots good noise insulation and the great Diesel-engine, but I can live with it since I tried to change the temperature and used the mediasystem in the 5008. Creepy
if 3008 would of been available with 4WD I would def have purchased one instead of a hatchback. But I don't see a reason to buy a car of this size without a 4WD option in the area I live. Besides, I am alone and I don't have to drive around kids... what a pitty...
Does anyone test these things before putting them on sale? Massive faults should be caught at the design stage - it certainly shouldn't fall to a road tester to find things so obvious.
that is not true, my 206 can enter my garage without a problem but my dad corolla hits the ground my neighbour car got stuck and need to be pushed out, there are situations that you just need clearance and not AWD, my cousin in Canada clearance is nice to avoid some snow but FWD is more than enough with proper tyres...
okay everyone, from SA, bought a 2021 model, peugeot 5008 the 7 seater volkswagen compare to this SUV, drive this car with luggage then open your mouth
The 208 has the same setup, small steering wheel and high-set instruments. I love it. On other cars I always like to have the driving wheel very low, which then interferes with the view of the instruments, and I never could see the point in central instruments which Renault likes. But this is perfect.
Yes agreeing with you a lot except the looks which I don't like and I think will date very, very quickly. French cars have a lot of wow on a first glance but a lot of the tech doesn't work properly and often fails. The plastics inside look terrible and the fit and finish even looking at the video can be seen to be rubbish. The final big nail in the coffin are those terrible ergonomics. SUV no MPV perhaps... A sheep in sheep's clothing. Why bother, get a Skoda Kodiaq - better fit and finish and application of technology and 4WD options available.
Dear French Car Manager, why do you ruin your always nearly very good cars with just a couple of avoidable but nasty mistakes? Um! I forgot, there are no proper managers in these companies: I've the impression there is no manager who coordinate the different appartments concerning functionality; there are guys who make e.g. the seats - great, then some who make the interior design - great, then some who construct the stuff in the center console and nobody with an overview and - voila - not enough space for the knee. I think I had this problem too at an rental 3008, it was horrible, or any other maybe also french car: no space for the knee/comfortable seating position: a NOGO!
Sonnenschein Sommer German cars are a lot worse! They are so unreliable in real life but motorjournalists get paid to hide that fact. German companies lie and lie and deceive... :(
I am not Peugeot fan, but you are totaly against this car, just negative things you said or overreacted. Full of crap. Big dislake, you, the mighty tall man.
lets be honest, how many times this cars will see true off road? maybe a back end road in dirt but not off roading, grip control is more than enough for that and the extra ground clearance is nice to jump side walks in cities...
Bokisa I have a cousin in Canada were it snows like hell and he goes around in fwd cars like it's nothing, the secret is the tires, in Europe the market for this car is the same thing
Well yeah tires are important as well. But when you buy "SUV" you'd expect from it to have 4wd as standard...I just dont like how these days "SUV" term is used for...
Bokisa personally I would prefer this in Fwd than Awd, less complexity and better fuel economy, but I live in Portugal a country that civil protection put us in yellow alert because temperature is close to 0 degree centigrade during night...

My thoughts so far and I will only mention the negatives (remember, its MY thoughts, not a freaking science report):
Negatives:

Hi Joakim. How do you travel with 4 kids? Do they stay all in child seats? Can you mount in the third row child seat? Do you have also a roof box for lugage?
3008 and 5008 are both excellent, the most adorable cars in their segments.
I'm 187cm and 97kg, I didn't have any problems with my size while testing.
Maybe being clumsy is more of a problem here than being tall.
I'd expect taller drivers be more tolerant, because they are used to squeezing in everywhere. Or because you're sitting further back, your knee is at a different angle. If you fit, good for you.
Me too, I don’t know what he’s morning about.

Interesting. We have the previous 5008, which I find very nice (and also good-looking, but that's a matter of taste). What is version on this car...allure...or GT, with gold colour and black roof
I have a 5008 of the previous generation from 2011 - so for 9 years now - the hassle stowing the luaggage cover when using the 3rd row of seats has always been one of the most irritating parts. Hi Marek, I would really love you did a review on the facelifted 5008.

Hello. 196 guy here, looking to buy this car. Are you still satisfied with your driving position? After 3 years what do you think about the car overall?
how does the cup holder led lights work and the door trim lights are they ment to be on all the time or only when ignition it on
great review as always but no where does the 5008 pretend to be an off roader !! it is what it is a pretty 7 seater with the option of more luggage room !!!
Are those Hp enough for this kind of big SUV???
Depends on where, and how you drive it. Theoretically in France they are very strict about their speed limits, and there are a lot of speed cameras. So you can have a Ferrari, but still drive behind a 5008, because if you overtake, it's going to cost you.
Good, thorough review!!
Your reviews are the best because you critizise aspects that other reviewers ignore, yet are very important, such as leg room, sitting position etc. Its a shame car manufacturers discriminate tall people.
Great vid as always Marek!
what country made that car?
Dutch roads are pretty great, but we are reminded of that every time we enter Belgium :-)
LOL
We are also reminded of their greatness every month when we pay the road taxes😂
Weak presenter , very fussy , clumsy and with a prejudice towards peugeot .
(prejudice towards peugeot ) 100% Agree
Much better than the old model which looks likes an MPV, and was really tight inside. Wondering why they didn't put the 2.2 diesel in the 508 here.
You remove the cover first, then unfold the seats.... and you don't need to pull on the strap and pinch your fingers lol, just push the seat in, strap is for lifting it off the floor.... and about the central console being for small people, maybe for slimmer people? But I agree it's quite bulky.
I find second row headroom to be terrible. The sunroof pretty much makes it impossible for me to sit there. And I'm only 175cm.
“Peugeot 5008 is another minivan from France, which pretends to be an SUV.” Finally a reviewer says this! how can a car be made today that has some things really well thought out then some huge blunders in other areas ? is this a typical french thing ?
Some say blunders, some say Character
Yes its a french thing...
You mean how can a car pretend to be a luxury suv when it can't go 60000 km without needing gerabox replacement, and three times consecutively? That's the experience I've had with Mercedes ML automoatic. GLE, pardon.

I think the 5008's awkwardness is in inverse proportion to the 3008's sleek, taut looks. The design just looks strange when stretched.
I never saw a test so motivated by bad intention. VW paied you for that?
Ref to 3008 test, for front part. And search a little more in boot
And i agree with previous comment. 1m88 and 46 for feet, i never had any problem
3008 is a brilliant car. This missed the mark by a mile.
The look is the only good thing on a SUV, so I replaced the old 5008 with the Ford S-Max. The only stuff i miss is Peugeots good noise insulation and the great Diesel-engine, but I can live with it since I tried to change the temperature and used the mediasystem in the 5008. Creepy
Some goofy comments would be spared if you’d read the user manual first 😂😂 BTW this car is huge 😱
Nice! :)
if 3008 would of been available with 4WD I would def have purchased one instead of a hatchback.
Dziękuję!
you are very strict with the peugeot 5008
There are better minivans out there. Not many better looking though.
@@MarekDrives Marek name those minivans please - taking into consideration 3 individual seats;)
Just get an S max with 4x4 and you are good
S-Max has less ground clearance.
Marek Drives You dont need hround clearance with a 2 wheel drive...
that is not true, my 206 can enter my garage without a problem but my dad corolla hits the ground my neighbour car got stuck and need to be pushed out, there are situations that you just need clearance and not AWD, my cousin in Canada clearance is nice to avoid some snow but FWD is more than enough with proper tyres...
why would anyone would buy rubbish from ford?lmao
True Normality Becouse french cars are even worse...
okay everyone, from SA, bought a 2021 model, peugeot 5008 the 7 seater volkswagen compare to this SUV, drive this car with luggage then open your mouth
I hate that half cut steering wheel and the high rise instrument cluster
+fm carv why?
I like it but hate fat steering wheels.
The 208 has the same setup, small steering wheel and high-set instruments. I love it. On other cars I always like to have the driving wheel very low, which then interferes with the view of the instruments, and I never could see the point in central instruments which Renault likes. But this is perfect.
Is that stering wheel interfering with instrument cluster? looks like it could be but not sure what it looks like from drivers perspective

Go to Germany the roads there are spotless
Possbly the best 4x4 on the market
You do realize this is an FWD-only car?
@@MarekDrives my mistake
I'm not giving up my MK3 galaxy for this stupid tight 7 seater.
It is definitely NOT SUV
more like mpv
Mini Van
Look at carwow for a perfect demonstration of how to operate the rear seats BTW l like your slightly acidic commentary
The 2008, 3008 and 5008 were one of the smallest cars I have ever been in. I am 186 and can't even fit in this SUV. :/
But french managers respect laws to avoid their companies paying billions of fine....and not going to jail
Ridiculous review
This is probably the worst car review I've ever seen.....
You give me too much credit, but the car is bad.
I am not Peugeot fan, but you are totaly against this car, just negative things you said or overreacted. Full of crap. Big dislake, you, the mighty tall man.
It is really ugly from behind, and without all wheel drive??? Wondering why this car exists...
lets be honest, how many times this cars will see true off road? maybe a back end road in dirt but not off roading, grip control is more than enough for that and the extra ground clearance is nice to jump side walks in cities...
You forgot about the winter right? I just cant see the point of buying this instead some sport wagon cars
No
NOT PERFECT IF FWD DRIVE 👎👎👎
I think this reviewer works for VW.
Why don't you suspect Toyota or Fiat?
You could have removed n replaced the booth cover first Marek🤔🥱 that wasn’t smart bro
