I've had a 1.2 Puretech 130 (GT Line Premium) for the past year and it has been excellent. I do lots of motorway miles (400+ miles/day) and regularly achieve 50+mpg on trips. It's comfortable and quiet on trips and there are zero rattles/squeaks after 13,000 miles. The seats really are comfortable and the heated element has 3 settings, with the top one being pretty hot! I've had back injuries in the past so I find the massage function and electronic lumbar support really helpful on longer trips. For a front-wheel drive only option, It has been remarkable in the numerous bouts of snow we've had this past winter, and even without the 'grip-control' (mine is manual rather than auto-gearbox so doesn't get grip-control) it simply grips and goes - my wife even wanted to borrow it on a couple of occasion for her commute when the snow was bad. I know there's lots of talk about the i-cockpit set up and the steering wheel potentially blocking some of the dials - I'm 5ft 9ins and have absolutely no issues. Even with the steering wheel in its highest setting it doesn't block anything at all. Having said that, I do have the seat a little higher, which also gives the benefit of a better view out - I can't see the point of having an SUV and sitting on the floor; it is after all, not a sports car! I have the keyless tailgate option, which works 5 times out of a 100, and is pretty frustrating. You can pop the boot by holding down the button on the fob for 2 secs which does the job and you can also open/close it from inside the car, which is handy when someone is getting something out of the boot in the rain and you don't want to get out! I'm not sure what the reviewer was quibbling about with the auto-wiper function - that simply isn't an issue and I'm not sure why you'd find it 'annoying' that it doesn't remember that setting? (Just sounds like something to moan about to me?) I have never found the car lacking in power and a 1.2L 130hp petrol engine in this size car really is remarkable, particularly for the fuel economy. The pre-facelift model I have sees the i-cockpit being a little 'laggy' when you're changing functions, but I've gotten used to it. I'm not sure I agree with the reviewer's recommendation to simply use Apple Car Play or Andriod Auto? The Tom-Tom unit fitted to the car has live updates and there has been a couple of occasions in the past year when I've been using Google Maps on ACP and it hasn't shown particular road works on the map (travelling after 10pm, when there are often scheduled road works on the A1/M1, etc) when the Tom-Tom does. You can't push Google Maps onto the digital driver's display either, but you can with the built-in Tom-Tom. The only downside to the infotainment system is that it can be slow to boot, especially the map. I save regular long-trip destinations in 'favourites' on Tom-Tom so that helps with the loading speed, but just booting the system is frustratingly slow. The suspension is soft, but not soggy. The roads where I live are terrible and it rides over them without any crashes through the floor or rattles/squeaks from interior panels. I had a Ford Kuga before this one and the Peugeot 5008 is generally more comfortable and the fuel economy with the Kuga was grim! With family in, I can't chuck it around like a sports car, anyway, as they suffer from travel sickness, but even when on my own, there's plenty of grip at speed through the corners without excessive body-roll. There's loads of storage space around the place, though the glove box is pretty useless. The storage under the floor in the second row is useful. Overall, this is a cracking car if you're considering one and highly recommended. Oh, one final thing: the app that you can download for the car is pretty hit & miss - I've complained to Peugeot that it rarely connects automatically via Bluetooth, and therefore doesn't record the journey. I also have a 2015 Peugeot 308SW, and that connects pretty much every time. Small complaint.
I have just ordered a 21 plate GT Premium 1.2 auto. I can't wait :) I do a lot of driving too and after being a nurse for 37 years, I also have dodgy discs. I tend to buy French cars but never a Peugeot before. I have a Renault Koleos now and love it. I would have had another but Renault stopped importing them last year (again).
That said, this seems like a really lovely car. I’m trying to find a European country where I can just buy a car as a tourist (for a year+ visit), no residence permit (yet), as you can in the US and UK. Would you have any suggestions? Seems like Sweden, Germany and Switzerland might do. In 4 months or so, I should have a residence permit and long term visa (it takes awhile to get approved), but I can’t imagine not having a car immediately. Too many kids to haul around. Likely much cheaper to explore Europe with a decent car.
@@naumanshah100 I’ve actually never had 7 people in it. I have, however, had 5 with a full boot of luggage to go on holiday and it was fine. About auto-wipers.... I drive 508... and when I bought it I was annoyed with this function as well... but! Situation when the car was covered with snow explained me why! If it remained automatic even then then wipers would start working on car start and probably would damage the wiper engine or whatever... so... its actually clever thinking... though, I still don't like algorithm of auto-wiper system working at all... too much speed related, rather than how much rain there is related...
May just be me, but I don’t understand the point that journalists make about needing to adjust the height of the wheel for comfort and then not seeing the dials. To me, the reach adjustment is made for comfort and height adjustment for visibility.
The reason why the 5008 can’t be had as a plug-in hybrid like the smaller 3008 is probably because the batteries in the hybrid versions of the 3008 are also where the 3rd row seats would be in the 5008 - in the boot floor, meaning there wouldn’t be enough room for both the batteries and the third-row seats.
you forgot to mention that it is perhaps the shortest 7 seater out there. 6cm shorter than Kodiaq and 17cm shorter than Sorento! its ridiculous how they managed to make it so compact.
Not really ridiculous. Without an AWD system and interior space sacrifices one can easily make it very small. The question is... why? Every competitor has more boot or rear seat space and AWD and those elements are why most get an SUV to start with!
@@afcgeo882 not really, NONE of competitors have more space in the boot (even a lot bigger ones like Sorento = 600l vs 1000l by their own numbers) and none is significantly roomier in 3rd row (if at all). Something is very off here! Boot space, by your own review in Q5 is 550l (1550l in 2seat mode) while 5008 has 1060l (2150l in 2seat mode). How on earth then do you call them comparable and say that it fits the same number of suitcases?
Much of the boot volume as measured currently comes from above the rear seat back/cargo cover, meaning it’s space rarely used. The baggage test measures actual usable space that’s actually used. The Q5’s boot slopes heavily above that seat back line, reducing its total volume count by a lot. The Peugeot is very squared off instead. However, you can still fit the same baggage in... unless you are to stuff them fully to the roof.
@@afcgeo882 in Sportage I never used shelf..who needs to pack a lot of stuff doesn't use it. I have collected the peugeot 5008 GT model on the 28th September 2023. I am a disabled person, I am having great difficulty opening and closing the boot. The boot door is very stiff and has no mechanism to press the button to close it, instead I have to force it to close. GT Model is suppose to be the highest range model but it is disappointing, when reversing the wing mirrors don't dip, so I have to raise my body to check if the wheels are not too close to the curbs. I drove a Citreon grand picasso previously and all these things came with it. However peogeot aspects to charge me extra if I need a mechanism put in to open and close the boot with ease. If any disabled driver has this problem please share it.
I have the older gt line spec and it has 4 ways to open and close the boot. I've driven the new facelift and it's the same. You press and hold the boot button on the key fob and it should open. You press and hold to close as well. You can use the button next to the steering wheel, press it twice then it opens etc. All the GT line and GT have these features, maybe yours is faulty.
Nice review... and a good looking interior for the driver. Two things I found that others might not have noticed: You say to use Android auto for sat nav but keep in mind that you can't route plan if you go through an area without data reception. I also found that it sometimes tries to re-plan when you drive along and suddenly you're without a route if you happen to have no data at that moment. Secondly, I hadn't thought it through but if you regularly need to carry more than 5 people it's not very convenient in this type of car... well if you need to carry their luggage too as with all the seats up there's precious little boot space. Perhaps that's obvious for other people. I did manage two weeks away with 6 of us in a VW Caddy (the larger one) which did over 50mpg in diesel guise and still doesn't cost the earth. On the down side it drives more like a van and has a lot less attractive interior.
I have a 308. Tom Tom system is as good as Waze, and better integrated in the car (it can display information on the driver screen, for example). I prefers it, as it also works without GSM coverage. The only missing feature is it does not display location of speed controls.
The 5008 definitely has more grip than the VAG competitors. Less body roll doesn’t mean better grip/handling. Actually, stiff sway bars usually reduce the grip.
I will be definitely be looking in to the 5008 as my next car for sure. What u get for the money is well worth. I've drove all sorts of cars through my company. And the 508 gt line is by far up there with BMWs I've drove in the past. Bot for speed of course. But for overall drive and quality, looks and cost. This car turns heads and gets lots of compliments. I've only had for about 9 months and the amount of comments about the car ppl say directly to me and indirect is very impressive
Actually the biggest technical improvements in the facelift, besides the visual differences, are the advanced drive assists. The previous model only has simple lane assist, which triggers only when you're trying to leave the lane without indicator, adaptive cruise control with stop function (min speed 30 km/h) and speed signs recognition. In the facelift semi-autonomous driving is introduced - there are active lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function and advanced traffic signs recognition - one-way streets, forbidden overtaking, etc. That said, I just got the previous model MY19 1.6 180 petrol EAT8 and I am really satisfied with everything for the moment and I think this is the only feature of the facelift that I might miss. Generally speaking, in long-term perspective I believe the digital cockpit and screen would age worst and in 5-10 years wouldn't look really attractive and possibly would become even more sluggish.
Got an Allure Premium 5008 on order because I need maximum boot space for my mob scooter and hoist which won't fit my current X-Trail without losing a back seat. I'm sure I read somewhere that from an Allure upwards you get a mobile phone charging pad, but for the life of me I can't find the article anywhere. Can anyone shed any light on whether this is available as standard on the Allure Premium?
I really enjoyed this review, thank you! We currently have our 2012 Peugeot 5008 Allure auto 1.5 and I love it for comfort and the 3 individual middle row seats which are a must and a total deal breaker, and have put me off buying the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe and several other 7 seat cars.
I wish they would have made this car a bit longer behind the rear wheels... even 10 cm would have been ok, that way you would have some actual room for something behind the third row and that way it would only be a little shorter than the sorento. I still wish they would make a 5 seater hybrid AWD version of the 5008, would consider buying one then
I'm confused about the rear (middle row) seat space. It looks like this one is wider than the Kia Sorento and the Hyundai Santa Fe given that it has three individual seats in the middle row, which sounds very spacious in theory. Yet, you seem to think that the other ones are more spacious. Which car would you recommend to a family that needs to fit two adults and three children seated in children seats (age 1, 3 and 6)? For example, driver + 1 year old in front row, adult on one side + 3 year old in middle seat + 6 year old on the side.
We have the 5008. With 3-kids (7years,4 years and one 7 months. I think this car is great for a familj of five because it is so veritile. We often go two adults in the front and the kids in the back. But you can actualy go with any setup you want to. And a + for the extra seats in the back if grandma and grandpa whants to join.
I bought a brand new 5008 in January last year. I was sold the dream of the pop up seats but they are on an aggressive hing/spring mechanism which can cause the rollers to jump out of the rail and means it can't be folder flat or put into a seat position so it becomes an obstacle in the boot in an apex position. Peugeot and The dealership are aware of this and there is no way to repair this other than replace the seat completely at a cost of over £1,000. Personally I would not advise anyone to buy this car.
I have a 508 first time I've had peugot. I love the I cockpit looks sick everyone that's see it loves it and the car it's a gt line. Great drivem the only fault it how slow the menu takes to start up on the screen.
Early versions were blowing turbo coz of a few design weaknesses plus a stupidly high mileage oil interval of 25k miles. Halve that or even better service at a third of that and it lasts a million miles even with the weaknesses.
It also means you can get a mobility scooter or powerchair in easily. MPVs are no longer available, so large SUV is the only option without going to a van.
It would be nice if you'd mention if the engine is belt or chain, what the service costs are over 5 years of ownership. The superficial stuff is nice but the real measuring of a car is it's reliability.
@@GeordiLaForgery Owners can aak whatever they want, but if a dealer is giving you a figure of how much it will cost you to operate your vehicle, they’re lying. They’re lying because they, just like everyone else, don’t know. A dealer will make anything up to sell a car. The cost of scheduled service is NOT the cost of ownership, dufus! The cost of ownership is a comparative number that includes the price of the vehicle, the per mile fuel cost, per month cost of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and cost of insurance and road tax. While some of that is possible to project accurately (cost of car, road tax and insurance), the unscheduled maintenance and exact fuel economy is unpredictable.
@@GeordiLaForgery Scheduled service costs... you can have it serviced at a dealer or... you can have your garage do them or even do them yourself, so what’s the cost? Also, in their own test they said that they fit 9 suitcases in q5 and they now say they fit the same number of suitcases as in 5008 = 10. Wtf
They might have confused the comparison a little. No need to get all frustrated about it...relax
Two things I found that others might not have noticed:
You say to use Android auto for sat nav but keep in mind that you can't route plan if you go through an area without data reception.
I have a focus with nav (19 plate) from new as my company car.
I have never used android auto,as I find the ford sync3 perfect for my daily needs.
I have a 308. Tom Tom system is as good as Waze, and better integrated in the car (it can display information on the driver screen, for example).
I prefers it, as it also works without GSM coverage.
The only missing feature is it does not display location of speed controls.
Can you please use the metric system as well? I mean this could be useful for the rest of the world. Despite that I like your reviews
Just convert from Imperial to metric, simple
The 5008 definitely has more grip than the VAG competitors. Less body roll doesn’t mean better grip/handling. Actually, stiff sway bars usually reduce the grip.
I have just got new Peugeot 5008 can you tell me we’re I can get dash cam fitted
I still wish they would make a 5 seater hybrid AWD version of the 5008, would consider buying one then
I have never seen the third row done better than the way it is in the ford galaxy. No fumbling, just push a button for up and down.
I don't like that the rev counter display digits are the wrong way around.
Ahh now wonder we don’t hear about MPV anymore
very detailed review like about the seat configuration bit was informative. gr8 work
I wish Peugeot is in Canada. I really like this car.
Excellent review. Detailed and thorough.
The car shown at 0:35 is not the car Peugeot launched in 2010. You showed a post-facelift model.
Great review. The 5008 looks well for an SUV. :-)
What a review! U got Amazing content than others!. 💯
No mention about noise level and rattle , also big mirror wind noise.. I have seen in other reviews but not sure if that's an issue anymore.
GReat review. I have made my mind with this video. Ill buy my 5008.
The 2.0hdi is most definitely the pick of the bunch considering the size of the car. Its one heck of a reliable and refined engine.
Does anyone find the 5008 has a high clutch? Could that mean the clutch is going?
It's the engine size for such a large car that concerns me.
Good review but he seemed desperate to criticise anything, however trivial. Good car - I've just bought one!
how did you like your 5008 so far?
Doug's brill, really good review. 😊👍
Nice car If this a large SUV how about the GLS & X7 ? Ace revuew
Or a Disco?
The presenter always does an excellent job.
Scr urea emisson problems?
Where is plugin Hybrid 5008?
There isn't because there isn't enough room for the batteries and 7 seats
Maybe a comparison among mazda Cx8 and Mercedes GLB200.
Iv got one and it's a brilliant car and amazing on petrol :)
How’s the clutch? Does it seem high?
Great review and good looking car, thank you :)
Anyone ... is it wider than 3008 ?
I have a 2020 version, and I'm quite happy with it.
Why you are not comparing with prius p,us ?
Great drivem the only fault it how slow the menu takes to start up on the screen.
mate u didnt show us the trick on making the front seat flat
Why’s it not an MPV? Surely it’s just a different name? Forgive me I’m sure I’m missing something!
because it looks like an suv.
mpvs looked different... way more boring.
it's looks amazing
hdi engine is it from the old peugeots models keep blowing turbo
The 1.5l 130hp is of the same family than the one used on Fords. It is used for several years. It is OK, no specific issue was reported so far.
Early versions were blowing turbo coz of a few design weaknesses plus a stupidly high mileage oil interval of 25k miles. Halve that or even better service at a third of that and it lasts a million miles even with the weaknesses.
I can't believe Peugeot has still stuck with the old cruise controls. Citroen has a much better option being embedded in the steering wheel
i think the old Zafira C from 2018 is much better, sadly the new Zafira is just a Peugeot van...
I really like the look of the zafira touring, and thought it was a very well thought out 5/7 seater.
@@brianiswrong it was, sadly Peugeot is just way too weird and french for me 😟
Boot floor flush to the tailgate just means everything roles out when you're parked on a hill
It also means you can get a mobility scooter or powerchair in easily. MPVs are no longer available, so large SUV is the only option without going to a van.
I’ve the gtline premium on a
On a what? :-o
Certainly a good car, but why not 4WD? Not even an option is available.
It would be nice if you'd mention if the engine is belt or chain, what the service costs are over 5 years of ownership. The superficial stuff is nice but the real measuring of a car is it's reliability.
How would they know the 5 year costs? It’s new.
@@afcgeo882 Same as how new owners ask the dealer. You have a cost for a major/minor service intervals and just total them up.
@@afcgeo882 Calm down I'm asking the scheduled service costs that's all. I'm not expecting a car review to start guessing the unforseen.
@@GeordiLaForgery Scheduled service costs... you can have it serviced at a dealer or... you can have your garage do them or even do them yourself, so what’s the cost? I could have my Toyota dealer do my oil change at £100 or I do it myself for £25. What’s the factual cost then? What if I want to change my oil more frequently because of how I drive? Does that change my cost?
Always loved Peugeot’s design of recent years but boy those fang lights are ugly af imo
they grow on you after sometime though
For me those are working good. making a difference. kodiak design is so unoriginal and boring for example. skoda makes decent cars - I used and loved my company octavia wagon - but their design is dead boring.
But what will it be like in 10 years with 120000 miles on the clock?
Excellente travaille..merci beaucoup
This guy must be the Messi of car reviewers
Amazing review.
I already have one, excellent car.
how is your resume now, after 3 years?
What about reliability,
Peugeot have become a huge success since ditching the sheepskin coat Football club car factory reputation. Some of the new models just wouldn’t be possible in the days gone by
Just bought 3008 GT, plz don't buy GT, buy GT sport....... much smart
The Peugeot 5008 looks so much more expensive and beautiful than any of its supposed rivals.
This is the perfect car for people who buy a new car every 5 years... don't expect it to last long
Too bad I can't buy the 5008 cuz I live in Canada
Great review.
Puegeot 5008😍❤️
Lovely looking suv...but how stupid they've carried on with the problem you may knot be able to see all of the digital speedometer rev counter etc..depending on where you want your steering wheel to be.
Kills me that this muppet criticises the controls of this car in comparison with those in VAG cars which are so incompetent they are dangerous.
Peugeot needs VAG's advertising budget.
Digital display, electric handbrake and key-less start are absolutely useless technologies.
I would prefer to see a "decently reliable electronics" to be in a Peugeot.
That would be groundbreaking.
(Or a timing chain in a diesel ..)
Good man good cars thanks you.
Since when was a 5008 a large suv? Its midsize at best
Most uncomfortable suv?
why do you think that??
Thanks
You are like a taller Anthony Davidson 👍
*D O U G R E V O L T A*
What about the 9008
It doesn’t exist.
11008 is better
69008 the best
@@tentifr nice
Why don’t you show us inside the boot ? I have a big dog
Is this 5008 engine using the CRAPPY FRAGILE BREAKABLE PLASTIC WATER PUMP or
Using CAST METAL DURABLE PROBLEM FREE WATER PUMP. ????
Peugeot 3008 2021?
old one looks better
It's look like a van from the side.
I would just go with a Peugeot Rifter or a Citroen Berlingo
It is a van still, really.
@@afcgeo882 But it is 4 grand cheaper
Toyota hughlander is better option than this !
Nice jam jar !!!
130hp for an SUV like this is mildly concerning, thats less power than in a honda civic.
