This song was meant to be funny and hilarious. Back in the day we did not take things so seriously as they do today. People are easily offended today and that is a shame. They took the fun out of life and made everyone afraid to speak one's mind. It is a shame our world has come to this. Thank goodness I was young then and had lots of fun back then without all the politically correct mess that has hijacked our world today.

Correct !! .it was one of those dances that even if you couldn't dance and had two left feet, you could still get on the dance flood and feel comfortable because it was so easy to do.. like the dance "the twist" in 1960's
I am a white woman from the deep south. when I was a teen, our local radio station ran a contest and I won.. the prize was this album.. only contest I ever won😂
This song was such a hit and we laughed so much at this song, It was funny and we all laughed, we got the humor and no one was offended , people laughed at this and everyone laughed the bump was a popular dance and yes someone could knock you down, I was a kid so never really done it , you see how cute it was , she came on and they had fun , no one was offended then , everyone knew to laugh at this kind of stuff as you can see that woman knows how to dance , and they had fun with it no one was politically correct , we laughed at nonsense
Hey Shawn just ask the ladies in your family that are around 60 years old about this song and they’ll tell you how much they loved it and how they used to dance to it and thank you for reminding them about it… Guaranteed..
I promise you, honestly, hand on heart, no-one was offended by this back in the day. AND - it filled the floor! Every time!!! My husband and I used to muck about to this one, 'bumping' each other's hips and pretending to almost fall down. It was purely for fun. And there was a LOT of that at discos, etc. back then. We had brilliant nights out. By the by - I'm glad you noticed how great the beat etc. is on this. Have to say, I had the best fun I've had in ages just watching the expressions on your faces! I am SO noticing my age! Brilliant reminder of the non politically-correct era. Once again, I swear to you, this disc was never intended in offence to anyone. For real. That's just how it was back then.
Everything is offensive.. milinials are whimps!! Big baby hueys.. '70s,'80s,'90s we had fun.. even told racists jokes and no-1 was offended. SoCal is or a melting pot. Naybors of Allll ethnicity.. and we all had jokes on one another.. high school was the same.. with Latinos, Asians, Blacks, Whites and we all got along.. well, we tried too. Even at work(corporate America 🇺🇸) we even sent Strip-O-Grams during people's birthday or pre-wedding gift. Young people suck at times!!
We loved Joe Tex ya'll and I am one of those big, fat beautiful women. And I used to love to do the Bump. And I ain't broke nobody's hip yet🤩. But Joe's songs were real. See now everything has to be politically correct. That's why you guys are so shocked. In our days artists were allowed to be artistically free as long as it was true. So much fun!👍🏾👵🏿🎶💙
Joe Tex was a bug influence on James Brown in the 1950's. He also wrote the oft covered, "Fever", which he sold for quick cash without copywriting it, so he didn't get writing credit for it.
The woman who danced with him at the end of the song is named Jennifer Echols. She was an actress who graduated from the School of Theater at USC. She was okay with her size and was a wonderful, intelligent woman. Unfortunately, she passed away a few years ago.
Oh man!! Sooo happy and shocked to see this one!! I’ve jammed out to this one since I was VERY young!!!! First I’ve seen anyone do it!! Let’s get into it!!!💖💙👍✌️ P.S. don’t feel bad y’all- this was a smash dance Floor hit!!! 💃 💃 💃💃💃💃💃
Back in 1977 when the song was released my mother bought the 12-inch Disco single. I was 12 years old. She used to make me do the bump with her in the living room and she would knock me down and we used to laugh so hard! She was that big fat woman! Rest in Peace Mama I love you! 😊😢
Great memories. I’m 68. Yes, a great time to be alive. Things were different then. Fun, relaxed, groovin together, doing the ‘Bump’ and everybody getting along. Just yesterday I told my sister that I’m now that ‘ Woman with the skinny legs’ another fun song.😎🎶
Awesome!!!! Your reactions were priceless!! This song was harmless fun back then, just one man telling his story. You should also check out another Joe Tex classic from that era, 'Skinny legs and all". Love what you guys are doing!!!
One of my Dad’s favorites!! My Mom was big boned and when this song played on our “caponaset” at home. He would grab her or myself to dance🕺🏽 💃🏽. It was a great family time! We all knew the words and Joe Tex really sung this song! Mom and Dad 💋😇🥺♥️♥️💫🙏🏽
I remember doing "The Bump" to this song back in the day. There was "The Bump" then there was the "Double Bump" EVERYBODY was doing it! You may wish to consider George McCray, "I Get Lifted"
He also had a song back then called "Who Want's the Woman With the Skinny Legs" People didn't get so offended by everything back then like they do today
This was a huge disco hit here in the U.K no. 2 in the UK charts, these days it rarely gets airplay because it may offend. I personally don't recall any fuller figured girls back in the day being offended by its content but they happily did the bump too it. Its a shame that its not played as much as it was a great groove, at the time it was regarded as a fun tune
Love Joe Tex!! Still have his 45 of Skinny Legs and All. He died so young. He was in his 40s and had a massive heart attack. If not for that happening, everybody would know who Joe Tex was.
Yep! Joe Tex lit up the scene back then with his funky songs with fun and unique lyrics. Funny thing is at 68 I am officially that ‘Woman with the skinny legs.’😂
This used to get everyone on the floor in clubs and at party's. It just made everyone have a good time, the lyrics weren't taken seriously but the groove was. 🙂
I’m an old cowboy now, BUT, at High School dances we were all out singing and bumping to this song. Every race of kid out there having fun. The 70s were great if you were young. Keep doing great. Love your reactions.
Your reaction to the song we danced to in the 70's is PRICELESS ! We had thick skin and it was a time when We All got together and had fun and color was no Barrier . I was a "Caucasian" DJ in a Soul club and that's where I learned to Dance ! Oh , how times have changed for the worse in my opinion. ( I'm 68 Yrs old now)
You see that's the way we used to do it. We kept it real and nobody was offended because everybody was proud of who they were and it wasn't intended as an insult. You would have had to been growing up at that time to fully get it
In 1977 I was 11 years old and I remember this song that was a hit in Australia. In primary school I remember laughing about it because it was very amusing to kids as well as older. Anyway it was a fun tongue in cheek disco song...classic disco! Love it!!!!😂😂😂😂 I still laugh...this song makes you happy!
Shawn&Mel I just love you guys spirit. My first time visiting your channel. It's comforting to see young people like yourselves with a mind open to other genres and eras of music 🎶 and give respect to the veterans .But the most enjoyable thing about this clip was you guys facial expressions.....Priceless!!!!1😲😳😲😳
Joe Tex is hysterical in this great SOUL TRAIN clip. Love the way Joe makes that microphone stand his byitch! Have this on my workout tape -- Joe's the bomb.
Y'all playing my jam,. I use to bump so much I hurt my hip. 😜😜😜😜😜. None of them are doing the bump. It's a great dance😍😍😍😍😍. The lady on stage was doing the real bump 👍👍👍
I had all but completely forgotten about this song! Lol! It was so funny then too... It was a hit and the Bump was popular! Y'all are so funny seeing you see this as brand new! ❤️❤️❤️
Joe Tex is an amazing entertainer, some strange songs but the favorite song 🎧 of mine is ‘I Gotcha’ 🤗 🎵😅💖 He really shocked people when some of his disco songs came out 😳
Joe Tex is an R and B legend. He did a lot of these type songs like The Worlds Gone Chicken Crazy and Skinny Legs And All. It was all in fun I assure you.
THANK YOU! so much for reviewing this song. I am 55 and loved growing up hearing this song. I am a big woman and I laugh so hard every time I hear it. I SO enjoyed both your reactions. I deep belly laughed during your review. :)
My favorite funny song from the 70's. It's not very PC for modern times but it was quite popular when I was a kid. It cracks me up every time, not because of the woman's size. For me, it's the mental image of this scrawny skinny man getting picked on & knocked around on the dance floor. The 2nd verse about being snatched out of his seat always gets me - LOL! He's being stalked by this lady who has her eyes on him & he aint gettin' away so easily - HAHA! Yeah, we weren't so uber-sensitive back then & knew that it was all in jest. We could laugh at ourselves without "offending" anyone. Mel seems to get that it's all a joke & not aimed at ridiculing any particular group of people, but rather a funny situation taking place in a nightclub. This came out when I was 10 but every once in awhile it would play at our local club when i was older. let me tell you, it would always get the crowd on their feet because it's a fun (funny) song - nothing more than a good laugh at the guy's expense, not the lady. I've been watching these reaction channels for about 2 yrs & I think you are the first to react to this song. I've suggested it myself on other TH-camrs' videos but I never see this song come up... until now. Thank you! My husband loves & hates this song. he loves it because it's funny & has a great dance beat. He hates it because it's a major earworm for him. It gets stuck in his head & he'll end up singing/humming it to himself all day long. :-)
Hilarious,I subscribe to your site after watching your reaction to Joe Tex's biggest ever hit, which came towards the tail-end of the 1970s Disco era: UK No.2 and US Billboard(Pop-No.12,Soul-No.7) - Mum,still has it in her classic vinyl collection!🤣 P.S. Full title been shortened for obvious reasons!😂
OMG---I loved both of your expressions when you heard what he was saying---PRICELESS!!! This song was from the 70's and was a hit then. Loved y'all's expressions!!! I had the same reaction when I heard in the 70s. Enjoyed the video!!!
This was a huge hit in the UK it got to number 2 in the music charts , he also got a Grammy for this track , it was great comedy and a legitimate disco hit that would pack the dance floors. And nobody rocks canary yellow like Joe Tex.
I remember when this was a great hit times were different back then no one got offended i enjoy you guys you remind me of my kids and grandchildren love your personalitys you guys are what the world needs god bless
What a rocker yeah what your hearing is right.. this is the 70s very few snowflakes back then just great music this track would fill a club floor anywhere in the world ...that driving beat pure disco ...Joe has definitely got the moves ...love y'all...
Back in the day the bump was a dance. And this track was a fantastic disco track. And no one was offended. I still pump up the volume when i hear this song.
Grew up listening to this song.My mom had it on a 45 miss the music of the 70s.Most of us that grew up on this took music for music not as making fun of people but the rhythm.Enjoy and don't worry about offending people over the music you play guys.
Okay, I've sat in the dark long enough...I have been subscribed for a while, have liked pretty much every reaction, but THIS one got a comment...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Y'ALL!❤🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 As soon as I saw the title I started laughing...and y'all did NOT disappoint!!! ✌❤& The S&M Squad P.S. Please react to "Thank You for the Love" by Mother's Finest. Somebody needs to bring that tune back!!
As a kid in the 70s, my mom and stepdad ran a cafe and my siblings and I would "help" get it ready for opening. By helping, I mean we'd occasionally sweep and clean tables, but being 6, it was mostly eating junk food, playing free pool and listening to this and other good music on the jukebox. Really good times
Y'all have me in tears...LOL! We had fun back then and people weren't so sensitive or took things so personally. There was a dance called "the bump" when this song was popular. You have to react to his hit, " I GOTCHA! AGAIN, I'M IN TEARS TO YOUR REACTION...THIS IS GREAT!🤣🤣🤣🥰 I know if you talk to some of your older aunties and uncles they'll tell you all about the fun!😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤎🖤🤍🥰 OK, I had to watch this reaction 4x. I'm glad Shawn hadn't taken a sip of water, he would have chocked or sprayed it all over the screen. I really LOVED your reaction...it was hilarious 🤣 😆 😂
Come on people you know that we had the best music in the seventies we had great time hearing great music and styles and we loved ❤ too go out to the disco club's and dance the night away ❤ 🎶 😀 ♥ 💙 😄 ❤ 🎶
Oh guys ur reaction to this was priceless especially Shawns when the lady came onto the stage absolutely loved this we had lits of fun songs back then but no one ever got offended by them 😊😊😊
Joe Text Ain't gonna bump no more is still my favorite song ever written, but at the same time I could not stop myself from laughing when she went on stage and knock him down.
This song was meant to be funny and hilarious. Back in the day we did not take things so seriously as they do today. People are easily offended today and that is a shame. They took the fun out of life and made everyone afraid to speak one's mind.

They really need to deal with whatever their music is because a Black American wouldn't even attempt to critique JOE TEX..
This song was actually a popular hit. You gotta' love Joe Tex, he's always entertaining.
Yes this was brilliant loved it full of energy
yes he was
They've gotta react to "I Gotcha!" by Joe Tex.
The bump was a dance from the '70s where each partner would "bump" their butts together. I'm sure you can find Soul Train dancers doing the bump.
Actually, it was more like bumping your hips together.
Bring on the Memories!🎶🥰
If you were popular, you'd get two girls on the dancefloor and do the double bump.
Correct !! .it was one of those dances that even if you couldn't dance and had two left feet, you could still get on the dance flood and feel comfortable because it was so easy to do.. like the dance "the twist" in 1960's
A vigorous sideways bump to the hip could definitely knock someone to the floor.

Joe Tex "Skinny Legs and All" "I Gotcha", "Got to Hold on to What You Got"
...and "Men Are Getting Scarce".

And The love you save.

There’s a great Soul Train video of this song
I was a young teen when I Gotcha came out…and I was intimidated and scared! 😳 (Lol!)
Joe Tex with Damit Joe on Soul Train. When she got up in that stage and kicked that leg up in the air. We went crazy. I was a child then.

My first dance with my mother in law at my wedding over 40 years ago love this song😃
He has another banger called I Gotcha worth checking out. He was a distant cousin of my Godmother's!
Got to be from Navasota tx then
This is a riot! And I love your reactions! I reacted the same way when I first heart. Love ❤️ you guys!!❤️❤️
Nobody got offended back in the day! We laughed at each other and some of us have never changed! By the way, I’m a fat boy!
That's what I'm talking about! Old school disco!!! This track is a classic!!!!
This is my favorite music video reaction EVER 😂🤭😅 You killed me at 6:25 !!!
This song is on my playlist. My dad loved Joe Tex. This was a hit, y’all, back in the day. I listen to ‘70 on 7 and I’ve never heard it.
You guys need listen lots more Joe Tex
This was a huge hit in the UK it got to number 2 in the music charts , he also got a Grammy for this track , it was great comedy and a legitimate disco hit that would pack the dance floors. And nobody rocks canary yellow like Joe Tex.
yes, this was a hit song back then, I was a kid and me and my cousin's used to run around the house singing this song. lol
I remember when this was a great hit times were different back then no one got offended i enjoy you guys you remind me of my kids and grandchildren love your personalitys you guys are what the world needs god bless
Two songs that will truly make your jaws drop to the ground: "Gang Bang" by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band; and "Big Ten Inch Record" by Aerosmith.
Hahaha brilliant reaction guys. Love Joe Tex, he made some cracking tracks, with the best being Hold what you’ve got IMO.
The Bump was a huge dance at the time.
"Big women" loved this track... when it pleyed they'd ALL hit the dance floor.... Ur PROJECTING.
My favorite Joe Tex song was "I Wanna Dance with Choo" from the Disco days. Great "catchy" song.
What a rocker yeah what your hearing is right.. this is the 70s very few snowflakes back then just great music this track would fill a club floor anywhere in the world ...that driving beat pure disco ...Joe has definitely got the moves ...love y'all...
The 70s were crazy - check out Randy Newman - Short People
Or THE STREAK. 😁😄🤣
I forgot this one! My 4’10” Spanish teacher hated that song but most people just rolled with it. People are offended by everything now.
The lyrics of Elton John’s “Island Girl” is another Elton song you won’t hear even though it was a number 1 hit back in 1975.
I love this song, parents use to play it when I was a kid... It was all in good fun for real.
Joe Tex had a rivalry with James Brown. They both do sound similar. I love both of them.
Back in the day the bump was a dance. And this track was a fantastic disco track. And no one was offended. I still pump up the volume when i hear this song.
Yall are so Damn funny😂 the bump was a dance like the girls in the back do the bump😂
Grew up listening to this song.My mom had it on a 45 miss the music of the 70s.Most of us that grew up on this took music for music not as making fun of people but the rhythm.Enjoy and don't worry about offending people over the music you play guys.
Okay, I've sat in the dark long enough...I have been subscribed for a while, have liked pretty much every reaction, but THIS one got a comment...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Y'ALL!❤🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
As soon as I saw the title I started laughing...and y'all did NOT disappoint!!!
✌❤& The S&M Squad
Another one in kinda the same vein is "The Bertha Butt Boogie" by the Jimmy Castor Bunch.
She was one of da Butt sistas. There was Bertha Butt,Betty Butt and Bathsheba Butt.
Bella Butt,Betty Butt and Bathsheba Butt were her sisters.
Oh come on guys, I love this song! It's hilarious!! I'm in tears with your reaction! The big girls call themselves "fluffy" now.
Guess don't know about the Butt sisters
I do ! But i cant remember who sings it or what the name of the song is really sucks to get older lol but I do remember Bertha and her sisters...♡
The Butt sisters were friends of Jimmy Castor lol. He referred to them in two different hit records. 1972 “Caveman” and 1975 “Bertha Butt Boogie”.
Oh guys ur reaction to this was priceless especially Shawns when the lady came onto the stage absolutely loved this we had lits of fun songs back then but no one ever got offended by them 😊😊😊
This my shit and y'all clearly don't understand the song
Joe Text Ain't gonna bump no more is still my favorite song ever written, but at the same time I could not stop myself from laughing when she went on stage and knock him down.
I remember when this song came out, it was funny and meant to be just that, never did I think I would hear it again. Lol. Thank you for this 😂😂
Classic Song!
