Nawl if you want to do it by shader, if you are using blender use these nodes Fresnel into> color ramp, and then plug it into your out put, it puts an outline around your model, does the same thing as a solidify modifier.
Blessed video, been 2 days i searched for cellshading like this, but all i was finding before that was the method that doesn't take in account the drawn texture, and now i found you video, exactly what i needed
same thing, there're some toon shaders that use a lot of math and stuff that I'll never be able to understand, so I'm just happy it could be as simple as this one :D
That's because when you plug diffuse/bsdf shader to colorramp, it transforms the output into its colors. So for diffuse shader you see main color and shadow color, which you can control through colorramp. If lighting is changing, so does the shadow position, and the result you can see
That's not possible, you can export only image textures (e.g. if you bake them), otherwise you have to replicate the shader using tools of the render engine that you're using
It surely doesn't because of the shader to rgb node But why would you want to use cycles for toon shader? I mean it's more suitable for realistic designs
Very good tutorial, can you do how to add black outlines like in anime
Thank you! Check it out - th-cam.com/users/shortsH3pFNwfSfss?feature=share
Enable freestyle in the render settings
Solidify modifier or freestyle or lineart mod
Well use a toon shader

i have zero need for a toon shader, but i clicked on the video to let you know how cute the model is 😭
Awww thank you so much💕💕💕 I hope you'll get to use toon shader one day though😂

I'm very glad I could help🥰
Bro literally!same with me 😅🎉
I really love your tutorials and value you as a blender creator. Please never stop making videos and keep up the great work!
UwU thank you so much for your words of encouragement💜 I'll keep on improving and making content!
For outlines you can also use grease pencil with the outline modifier
Go gettem, Yuegui!
this is such a simple process and yet i thought it was even more complicated lol

Super helpful! I couldn't find the mix rgb node for some reason
Thank you! It's because they change it, search 'mix' then select color from there!
Thank you!
💜
came for the tutorial, stayed for the music
you can technically try using this method to recreate the Bunny Maloney art style I guess
yea because they use basic cel shader
If i want a satured shadow? Like more warm colors?
Try changing color in the colorramp node
可愛いーッ!!
Thank you!😊
🥰
U just gained a new subscriber hehe 😁
Yay welcome hehe🌝

can you do how to use alpha textures with cell shading? i use facial textures like kirby games, but the alpha is black with this
doesn't it work if your background is transparent? or do you just want to use extra texture map?
@@Kileice transparent bg

It looks so cuteeeee omggg
Can you import that to UE5 ? Will UE5 delete the shader :0?
Thank you! You can import the model and image texture, but you'll have to remake cel shader :]
@@Kileice thank you for answering!!!! I was trying to find this answer for a long time xD
Your Cel shading is absolutely beautiful
@@huongthao2741 np! hehe thank you and good luck with your project!
can i still unwrap and draw a texture after adding the shader? or is that something i should do beforehand?( im still new to blender)
Sure you can! You can even skip texture drawing if you want
YaoYao bunny :3
🐰cutie
Will this work for games?
this method would work in any render engine I guess, you should just replicate it for that engine
i make lowpoly characters, and i use materials to color them, instead of making a texture. will i still be able to make the outline?
Yeah of course!
@@Kileice awesome thank you!

how toon shader changing when rotating the model

AAAAARGH, I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!!! WHY DOES SHADING HAVE TO BE SO COMPLICATED!!!!!!!???
IKR but this one can't be simpler ;\
i'm new to blender. Can you tell me how to export the model with cel shader ?

@@Kileice thank you for info
does it work for blender 2.83?
sure thing, it's just that some nodes may look different
Seems this doesn’t work anymore on Blender 4.0
Why?
@@Kileice My bad. I didn’t remember this only works on EEVEE
or maybe even less, because we all have eagle vision here
Ikr, I do my models in 5 mins
@@Kileice no, that’s not what I meant, I’m talking about the node window, it’s too small, if someone wants to repeat it, it will be difficult for them
@@Rinart-sempai well I get it, but it's already half a window( Also I'm always here to help if you don't see something
Light is the sun? Did you mean sun is the light?
It's the same
Yuuujh
it's not doing anything for me- help ;-;
I'm sorry I'm not sure what the problem could be
Are you sure you're using eevee? it won't work in cycles
Doesnt work with cycles 😢
It surely doesn't because of the shader to rgb node

this video to small cant see text T_T
Well it's probably connection issue, I can see it well both from pc and my phone
This music was made by ai
i don't think so
where can i find this "shadow cubemap size" ?
Look for Shadows tab in the Eevee render settings
