On election night more than half the country was thinking about these issues. Am I going to be able to feed my family? I going to be able to put gas in my car to go to work ? Everyone's trying to over-analyze this election when it was very simple: most people weren't satisfied with the economy and voted against the party they hired to do that job 4 years ago. All of these "dog ate my homework" type excuses are making the mistake of assuming most voters spend as much time thinking about politics as MSNBC analysts, which they don't. The question they ask themselves every 2 -4 years is quite simple: "Am I better off than I was?" If the answer is no, the ruling party will be voted out, and no excuses will change that. The time to worry about your position in an election is not right before the election, but while policies are being implemented. The problem was, too many Democrats don't like hearing any criticism of their party. Whenever I criticized Biden's economic policies on the MSNBC comments, I received hostile replies and accusations that I was a "Trump supporter" (I'm not and never have been).

“It’s the economy stupid” - it is as true today as it was when it was first coined 32 years ago. The only election where it’s bucked the trend in terms of the economic argument not winning out I think (correct me if I’m wrong) is 2000, and even then it was the tightest election anyone has seen in living memory.

Everyone's trying to over-analyze this election when it was very simple: most people weren't satisfied with the economy and voted against the party they hired to do that job 4 years ago. All of these "dog ate my homework" type excuses are making the mistake of assuming most voters spend as much time thinking about politics as MSNBC analysts, which they don't. The question they ask themselves every 2 -4 years is quite simple: "Am I better off than I was?" If the answer is no, the ruling party will be voted out, and no excuses will change that.
The time to worry about your position in an election is not right before the election, but while policies are being implemented. The problem was, too many Democrats don't like hearing any criticism of their party. Whenever I criticized Biden's economic policies on the MSNBC comments, I received hostile replies and accusations that I was a "Trump supporter" (I'm not and never have been).

The problem with the question of are we better off is, we don't have the ability to compare what life would be like under Trump the past 4 years. The US is not in a vacuum.
