What amazes me is that this arc is somehow darker than the horror themed Thriller Bark Arc. Human traffickers, horrible people in a place of power, corrupt government and our heroes getting their asses handed to them in gift wrapping. It really demonstrated how ill prepared the Straw Hats were for the new world. The supernovas where really cool too. I look forward to seeing them later on.
yep..i like both arcs for being so different in tone..in thriller bark you see a horror film type ship and its always shrouded in darkness and scary figures appear yet the strong members of the crew keep joking all arc long and its a fun arc even the final fight is a fun tag team match showing the crews skills more than being threatening. ..then the sun comes out and the real threat is there and its actually scarier with the sun out as soon as everyone is free and celebrates then before with zombies all around and everyones shadows gone...sabaody is the opposite..it looks fun on the surface with rides an exotic beautiful setting in the day but underneath this seemingly normal city is true horror aka slavery corruption and a simple call can get an admiral there to clean up damage control if you upset the natural order...brutal fights occur here...

The only bad thing about this channel is that subscribing leads to a bunch of other One Piece channels being recommended. Most of which do theories and chapter reviews with spoilers in their titles.

tbh I really wish Brook had more time with the straw hats before they got split up. Like, between that, and the fact that he wasn't around for most of dressrosa, I think I've only really warmed up to brook in whole cake island which isn't good considering he was introduced like 400 and something chapters earlier.

Same with Franky, Brook was introduced so quickly after Franky joined that he became almost insignificant. I wish Oda spent more time with the characters just chilling in between major arcs....
Gf P At least Water 7/Ennies lobby was long and gave Franky lots of shine. I felt Franky got even more screen time than brook for a lot of Thriller bark. So Franky felt like part of the crew at least to me and brook really didn’t
Absolutely my favorite arc of the series. I love the locale, I love the characters, I love the premise, I love the pacing, and I really love that the Straw Hats straight up LOST. In most shonen arcs including One Piece, either A: The protagonist winslol or B: The protagonist loses only to immediately rectify it in the next arc like Water 7 to Enies Lobby. Here they actually took an L and legit had my mouth agape wondering what is possibly going to happen next. A fun and easy read everytime. Much love for Sabaody.
yeah it went kinda all over the place after this first with amazon lilly then impel then marineford..sabaody at the time seemed generic but once we saw kizaru the supernovas and especially kuma transport the crew we realized this arc is timeless and will affect the story forever ...i mean we met rayeligh for gods sake learned of the nobles and worst generation and we saw a truely unique arc where everyone's on edge cause a admiral could be called at any moment and your waiting for it to occur....and luffys punch too
Back to back Ls too. First being separated all over different parts of the world, then Luffy outright losing his brother, having him die in his arms. The Post-War arc was probably the darkest one yet at that point. Luffy almost went full Gon and shattered.
When you leave Amazon Lily to head to Impel Down. You should mention the location of the island in the calm belt as they just casually sail past a destroyed Enies lobby.
What I love about this arc is how kuma basically teleported each straw hat member to the exact place they needed to train for the next 2 years. Almost as if kuma non verbally says “this is your only chance to escape & grow stronger. Don’t fuck it up.”

I actually do like the design of the admirals, there's a simple but neat theme going with them. The marines as a whole are "normal" letting the weirder characters stand out all the more.
Android 16 I'm good with the admiral's designs, except for how abnormally tall they are. I understand that it's One Piece, and it's far from the weirdest design that Oda's ever given an antagonist, but there's still something about their strange lankiness that I just can't help bit dislike.

I wish Oda would write at least one arc where all the Straw Hats were together the whole time instead of splitting them up into two or three groups. Fishman Island gave us just a small glimpse of their collective power with Zoro and Luffy fighting at just a fraction of what they’re capable of.
I quite like it when he splits them up because they get some decent focus. Looking back on arcs like Punk Hazard and Fishman Island, a lot of them were really pushed into the background because of the sheer amount of characters. However, I do love when you see them all together in full force. That's what Wano is for ;D

That was the same impression I got when I first saw him. Then he never showed up again (probably briefly at Marineford but I don't remember for sure) and I kinda forgot he exists.
Why Sasuke? He doesn't seem like an edgelord, or overly dramatic, or overly vindictive, or convoluted, or prone to betrayal. He also isn't taken too seriously; he has his gags. Law is far more like the Sasuke of the series.
This is easily one of my favorite arcs in OP. I love Sabaody Archipelago as a location and just what this arc showcased. Celestial Dragons, Supernovas and Rayleigh who is one of my favorite characters in OP. Also, Shakky is cool. The arc also contains some of the best moments of the series. Luffy punching Charloss and the SHs separation. Also this arc is one of the best animated in the entire series. In short, aside from a slow start; I genuinely love this arc. 95%.
One of my favourite arcs in One Piece I really liked Thriller Bark but was a step down from Water 7/Enies Lobby but Sabaody soared back to those heights and I loved it for that
I hate to say I didn't like Sabaody at first, but I fell in love with it following its aftermath. Impel Down stands as my favorite arc in the series, and I feel like seeing Luffy was once again united with a cast of allies after the Straw Hats' defeat made this arc so much more satisfying. In the desperation of the prison break the fact that Luffy was no longer alone in spite of his screw being scattered was a such a great experience.
This is my favorite arc. You knew Luffy wasn't going to exercise restraint around the world nobles so we go through the whole arc with the impending sense that all hell was going to break loose and it delivered that in spades.
A yes Sabaody, a really dark and tension ARC and intrudutcion of some badass charackters, Supernovas (who would had guessed how important they will become) and of couse Railey and Kizaur * _ * and lovly Hachi, I dont know, i always liked him somehow, he just dont seem like a bad guy, even at along park, more like he dragged along with Arlong but isnt as bad as him in his heart.
So here's my theory: Saobody was the SIMULATION of Luffy losing his crew. They were separated, but not eliminated. And of course later we learn that Kuma was saving them. They would've _really_ died if not for his interference. Now with Kaido, I feel like we're getting close to facing the *real thing.* We saw how Luffy shut down losing his brother, but he got through his grief when he realized he still had his crew. But what would happen if he lost them too, for real this time?
7:00 I do like their designs exactly because they are so straightforward and realistic. Surrounded by weird and wacky pirates the marines stand as a force of normalcy and order. So it wouldn't make sense for the admirals who represent normalcy to have wacky designs.
Don't forget that this arc also introduced the Pacifistas into the series. It was hinted at in Thriller Bark but really came into the limelight in this arc here. Remember that it took the entirety of the Straw Hat Pirates just to fell one Pacifista, which shows just how powerful and menacing these things can be.
Yep, although admittedly they were the older models of Pacifistas according to Sentomaru, and since they haven't really been seen much in the series since then (to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong) it does make you wonder just how stronger those machines are now compared to what they were back then.
One thing I did find weird though is that it took so long for them to know it wasn't actually Kuma. They saw his paw palms several times and so I would think they would know it isn't him as soon as he fired his first palm laser. On that I would also expect the Pacifista to be programmed to not use their palm lasers unless they have no other choice. That they keep their hands covered to keep the enemy guessing rather or not they are really Kuma.
Isn't it like a square/rectangle thing? The Worst Generation is all the Supernovas + Blackbeard (who never had a bounty pre-timeskip so he wouldn't count as a SN). All Supernovas are the Worst Generation but not all of the Worst Generation are Supernovas!
Yeah but Blackbeard didn't have a 100,000,000+ bounty which was stated to be the reason for the Supernova designation. I get that Oda isn't using the term anymore but I'm just saying in-universe the explanation could be bc Blackbeard is so notorious he always gets lumped in with the others

It's kind of like the Grand Line equivalent of Loguetown. It's the last station before the Redline where the Strawhats want to prepare for the following journeys, and it serves as the place where a journey ends (Pre-Timeskip Strawhats) and another begins (Post-Timeskip Strawhats).
Sabaody truly broke my heart especially the way Nico Robin called out for Luffy before she disappeared, with true fear of seperation written all over her...it was traumatic

This has to be my favourite One Piece arc! The emotional impact it had on me was insane, I really feel as if this is when the One Piece series was at its peak quality
In the Thriller Bark arc, it is stated that the corpse of the Samurai From Wano became famous for cutting a Dragon. Knowing that it was most likely the Country of Wano that stood against the World Gov during the Blank Century because they were able to make the indestructible stones, I wonder if the Dragon he cut was actually a Celestial Dragon.
One thing of note, though we do officially meet Silvers Rayleigh in this arc he's actually first seen all the way back in a Buggy flashback with Shanks early on during the Orange Town fight. He basically yells at Buggy and Shanks to stop fighting over whether the North Pole or South Pole is colder, which is a pretty dumb fight to have. He's quite a bit younger, but sports his stylish beard even back then.

Only watching up to the worst generation portion of this video because I'm currently binging one piece and I'm only up to Punk Hazard so I'm weary of spoilers, but I have to say this arc might be my favorite in the series so far. Watching Luffy, Law, and Kid fight together was amazing
4:50 I think the difference between Reyleigh and Shanks and Buggy is that the latter two held very low positions and were still very young when Roger was executed. For them Roger was nothing more than a springboard. However Reyleigh sailed with Roger during most of his life.
It was one amazing punch but there was one down side....It didn't kill the Celestial Dragon on the receiving end...to be honest I'm surprised it failed to do so.
I still think Sabaody is one of the best locations Oda has ever created. It's based around bubbles and truly everything is connected. From the amusement park rides, to the hotels, the way people get around, the way they carry cargo. They are even a major driver of the economy since coating brings in so much. It also has a light side with the tourist industry and a dark side with the human trafficking and the tensions with Fishmen.
definitely in my top three favorite one piece arcs. funny how loss makes one piece feel way more real, and the two lowest points of the straw hats (sabaoady and marineford) are arguably the two best arcs. I hope oda keeps us on our toes in the furture like he has done in these arcs

Another thing i cant say i really appreciated was how little of Bege's powers we see in this arc. Admittedly it applies to all the non-straw hat supernovas but bege in particular because of just how wide range his abilities actually are. Even if we just got to see like, him using the treads to retreat or whatever, i think i would've liked him a lot more.

This is my favorite arc. You knew Luffy wasn't going to exercise restraint around the world nobles so we go through the whole arc with the impending sense that all hell was going to break loose and it delivered that in spades.

So here's my theory: Saobody was the SIMULATION of Luffy losing his crew. They were separated, but not eliminated. And of course later we learn that Kuma was saving them. They would've _really_ died if not for his interference. Now with Kaido, I feel like we're getting close to facing the *real thing.*
We saw how Luffy shut down losing his brother, but he got through his grief when he realized he still had his crew. But what would happen if he lost them too, for real this time?

I do like their designs exactly because they are so straightforward and realistic. Surrounded by weird and wacky pirates the marines stand as a force of normalcy and order. So it wouldn't make sense for the admirals who represent normalcy to have wacky designs.

Don't forget that this arc also introduced the Pacifistas into the series. It was hinted at in Thriller Bark but really came into the limelight in this arc here. Remember that it took the entirety of the Straw Hat Pirates just to fell one Pacifista, which shows just how powerful and menacing these things can be.

Yep, although admittedly they were the older models of Pacifistas according to Sentomaru, and since they haven't really been seen much in the series since then (to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong) it does make you wonder just how stronger those machines are now compared to what they were back then.

One thing I did find weird though is that it took so long for them to know it wasn't actually Kuma. They saw his paw palms several times and so I would think they would know it isn't him as soon as he fired his first palm laser. On that I would also expect the Pacifista to be programmed to not use their palm lasers unless they have no other choice. That they keep their hands covered to keep the enemy guessing rather or not they are really Kuma.
Isn't it like a square/rectangle thing? The Worst Generation is all the Supernovas + Blackbeard (who never had a bounty pre-timeskip so he wouldn't count as a SN). All Supernovas are the Worst Generation but not all of the Worst Generation are Supernovas!
Yeah but Blackbeard didn't have a 100,000,000+ bounty which was stated to be the reason for the Supernova designation. I get that Oda isn't using the term anymore but I'm just saying in-universe the explanation could be bc Blackbeard is so notorious he always gets lumped in with the others

Yeah Supernovas are Rookies, while Worst Generation are pirates who raised into power during that time, with Blackbeard the most notable

It's kind of like the Grand Line equivalent of Loguetown. It's the last station before the Redline where the Strawhats want to prepare for the following journeys, and it serves as the place where a journey ends (Pre-Timeskip Strawhats) and another begins (Post-Timeskip Strawhats).
Sabaody truly broke my heart especially the way Nico Robin called out for Luffy before she disappeared, with true fear of seperation written all over her...it was traumatic

This has to be my favourite One Piece arc! The emotional impact it had on me was insane, I really feel as if this is when the One Piece series was at its peak quality
In the Thriller Bark arc, it is stated that the corpse of the Samurai From Wano became famous for cutting a Dragon. Knowing that it was most likely the Country of Wano that stood against the World Gov during the Blank Century because they were able to make the indestructible stones, I wonder if the Dragon he cut was actually a Celestial Dragon.
I'm gonna be honest, I hate Kizaru's design. Something about his face ticks me off
One thing of note, though we do officially meet Silvers Rayleigh in this arc he's actually first seen all the way back in a Buggy flashback with Shanks early on during the Orange Town fight. He basically yells at Buggy and Shanks to stop fighting over whether the North Pole or South Pole is colder, which is a pretty dumb fight to have. He's quite a bit younger, but sports his stylish beard even back then.

I think the difference between Reyleigh and Shanks and Buggy is that the latter two held very low positions and were still very young when Roger was executed. For them Roger was nothing more than a springboard. However Reyleigh sailed with Roger during most of his life.
It was one amazing punch but there was one down side....It didn't kill the Celestial Dragon on the receiving end...to be honest I'm surprised it failed to do so.

I still think Sabaody is one of the best locations Oda has ever created. It's based around bubbles and truly everything is connected. From the amusement park rides, to the hotels, the way people get around, the way they carry cargo. They are even a major driver of the economy since coating brings in so much. It also has a light side with the tourist industry and a dark side with the human trafficking and the tensions with Fishmen.
you should have mentioned how rayleigh saved the strawhats by manhandling kizaru
definitely in my top three favorite one piece arcs. funny how loss makes one piece feel way more real, and the two lowest points of the straw hats (sabaoady and marineford) are arguably the two best arcs. I hope oda keeps us on our toes in the furture like he has done in these arcs

Another thing i cant say i really appreciated was how little of Bege's powers we see in this arc. Admittedly it applies to all the non-straw hat supernovas but bege in particular because of just how wide range his abilities actually are. Even if we just got to see like, him using the treads to retreat or whatever, i think i would've liked him a lot more.
