How to travel from Pune to Mumbai in Vistadome coach | Pune Travel Vlog

- Indian Railways recently launched the Vistadome train coach in the iconic Pune-Mumbai train - Deccan Express. Since I had to go to Mumbai for the weekend, I decided to take the train and experience something new, and it was totally worth it. I travelled in a train after a few years and if train journeys could be like this, I think I might start traveling in trains all the time :)
How to book Vistadome ticket?
The train ticket costs about Rs 870; just make sure you select the 'Exec AC chair car' while booking the ticket as the IRCTC website doesn't use the term 'Vistadome coach'. Book your tickets here - www.irctc.co.i...
Currently there are two trains plying between Pune and Mumbai which have a Vistadome coach - Deccan Express (the one I took) and Deccan Queen.
The four hour journey was amazing, both for the views from the train but also because of the people I met in the coach. The video is not just about me but also the people I met (I also managed to interview a few).

Hope you are doing well and enjoying life to the fullest. I will be in Mumbai on October 3, 2024 and staying at the Capital Hotel near CSMT. I will be taking a day trip to Pune on the 07:00 Vista Dome train leaving Mumbai and will depart Pune at 15:15 which gives me a little over 4 hours in Pune. Can you suggest something to do while I am in Pune and can you recommend an American-friendly restaurant with good Indian food? I have been warned not to eat street food and only drink sealed bottle water.
I also plan day trips to Nashik/Nasik Road(Vande Bharat) and Matheran (Toy Train). I hope all 3 train trips will give me a great view of the breathtaking Western Ghats.
If you are in the area I would love to meet you and your friends for lunch or dinner in Mumbai or Pune. I appreciate your help.

Hello😀✌. Hope you are doing well and still traveling and posting. I am planning a trip to India soon. What are the best months to see the Western Ghats when the mountain sides are lush and green? I will ride Vande Bharat and Vista Dome trains through the Ghats from Mumbai to Pune and Mumbai to Nashik (Nasik Road?). Some say the Ghats are best enjoyed during the monsoon season from June - August, but do brilliant greens still cover the Ghats in September and October or even February?
India has always fascinated me and I've wanted to visit this exotic land since I was a kid, so I want to go at the right time to make the most of my experience. What is the hottest month in India? I appreciate your feedback.

Western Ghats are indeed best enjoyed during the monsoons which often extend into September. You’ll certainly see lush green cover in the Ghats till end of October, possibly even in early November. February would be brown with some green here and there - the ghats are more barren in the winters.

I was also looking to book it, so in irctc, i found this train DECCAN QUEEN EX (12124) from pune to csmt. It leaves pune at 7.10am. so is it with vistadome ?? EC is also present in it at 915rs...i hope its the right one ??
Yes Shahbaz, Deccan Queen also has a Vistadome coach. My friends have done it and apparently it’s quite good too 👍

What's the price of the train from one side
It’s around ₹900 - will depend on the exact train that you pick. Look for EV class while booking the ticket.

Just found this. Trying it tomorrow from Pune. Is it easy to get to the train from the entrance of the station? I am a Senior Citizen with a wheelie bag and backpack? If you read this would appreciate your help. I know this was posted in 2021
Hello - I won’t call it easy but it’s doable. There are ramps but our railway stations are far from being wheelchair accessible. Pls do let me more how this goes…

Had journey through this train few months back. Not at all a great experience. You cannot turn your seat towards the window if the passenger sitting in front has already done it. No proper leg space specially the seats facing opposite. Cleanliness not up to the mark. They will not provide any water. You will not be able to see anything through the ceiling, it is all opaque.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree the seat design could be improved upon - not sure if it’ll ever happen though. It’s also unfortunate that they’ve redirected the services offered…
