Let me set the scene, late 90's, maybe early 2000's.. I just finished playing a gig in a pub in Kingston in the UK. The sort of place with sticky carpets, where you paid 5 quid on the door to watch a couple of live bands play some originals with a few covers thrown in. The guy that booked us in said to me not to tell too many people but next week Gary Moore was going to play there as a warm-up for his next tour. This was too good to miss, I came back the following week, paid my 5 quid on the door, got the back of my hand stamped and headed inside. Before I got to the room with the stage I could tell the place was packed as it was so hot. So much for keeping it quiet. I squeezed through a load of people to get a pint with my brother (both guitar players) and tried to get a good spot close to the stage to wait in anticipation. When it started I wasn't sure I could believe what was happening, the tone, the passion, the soul, the sustain...I just kept looking over at my brother... mouth open, eyes wide...we didn't say a word, we couldn't...there were no words. We were literally blown away. That little concert left its mark on me and since then I carry a little bit of Gary with me every day. Thanks Gary, thanks for being so awesome and an amazing inspiration.
@Ancient man, sounds like a very cool experience, had a similar moment with Nils Lofgren playing Keith Don't Go on a 12 string acoustic in Gary's home town many years ago.
Angel just because I disagree with you you insult me and called me a paedophile. You feel personally insulted because I said something you don’t like about Gary Moore? And you say it’s because I’m French? Are you sure you’re okay? We are communicating about music not fighting. You must be a Trump follower having such a racist intolerant attitude.
The 2012 Rolling Stone Magazine does not include Gary Moore on the 100 greatest guitar players of all time!!!! WTF!!! Personally Gary is among my top 10.
Rolling stone magazine sucks. They always did. Remember they always blasted led zeppelin First three albums. Gee I wonder how those albums masterpieces have stood test of time
Man,Oh, Man! Gary Moore!! As Jeff Beck once said, "No other guitar in the universe can do what a stratocaster can do. I think we're all agreed on that." Certainly in the hands of a master like Gary Moore. I'm so sorry he's gone.
Gary Clark I am 66, teenager when Hendrix alive. Saw SRV live 19 times, the last time about 02 months before he died & he was as great as everybody says. RIP SRV.
THE greatest blues rock guitarist that has ever lived. Hands down THE BEST!! Gary Moore is the only player that makes my hair stand up. I have some really favourite players but this man sits next to the maker as far as I'm concerned.
Malmsteen is a terrible blues player. Blues is the juice that gets you up off of your caboose! Fuck that neo-classical sweeping arp bullshit. It only impresses teenaged boys. Sorry, I've been drinking.
A lot of people cover foxy (including me 😊) but Gary is the only one that has the feel like Jimi. I met Gary by accident during his 80's g-force days, I was playing with a cover band and he was in the same hotel. We got talking about guitars and he came by the room, I showed him my GL guitar. He picked it up and let it rip!! Wow! In his heavy accent said "fucking a right guitar man" I really didn't know who he was but I was a fan from that second. Months later I began to see who he was, I always followed his music and copped a lot of his style (people say I play to aggressive)🙄 I miss guitar players like Gary. A true musicians musicians. God bless you Gary! You gave it all. Peace.
@@WiesiekZdobywca No disrespect to SRV, I always preferred Gary. SRV was more a straight true blues guy, and was incredible. Gary was so much more than just blues, he made blues with a more metal tone and I preferred his music more
There are a lot of people out there who have a similar feeling, when highly sensitive people choose to play an instrument it sounds like a Monsun of emotions coming out of the guitar.
Every performance Gary More played with his hair on fire 🔥, that's what makes him the greatest axe man there ever was. I love you Gary, Thank you for all you gave for the love of music, R.I.P. Brother ! Brian Maurice.
Jaw-drop! Love how he plays the first solo note for note. And big, fat notes they are. What a completely reliable and always exciting player. Such speed-chop precision.

Gary and SRV do the best Jimi covers. And the drummer... Of course Mitch Mitchel really makes the cover authentic. A world class drummer. It shows how important he was to the sound when he was with the Experience.
Mitchel was "the shit" as we say in the USA... Mr. Moore straight up has the most intense chops I've heard doing this trak. PS I was alive at the same time Jimi was... I'm old-school to say the least. SRV :-) Rocks as well!
Yes, finally a cover of this classic in the original key! I shouldn't be surprised that Gary was hip to why this song doesn't sound that great in E. F#!
The passion, the intensity, the blues, the simplicity. In my opinion this is why Gary Moore is bang on when playing Hendrix. It’s n0t supposed to be technically -perfect or have blistering scales and arpeggios. It’s all feel. Gary does it right. He can peel out and shred on his 80s rock stuff. This is not the material for that type- of playing. He knew it. He respected it. He got it. RIP GM.
Gary appeared unannounced at a benefit night in Dublin for legendary session guitarist Jimmy Faulkner who had just died, in 2008. It looked from the excitement that even the other musicians onstage (lots of big names) didn't expect him. I was never a fan so I was actually disappointed. And then for the next hour I have to admit I was blown away, I've seen both Jeff beck and Peter green and neither of them impressed me as much as Gary that night. The SOUND out of that guitar, the sustain, the tone, fantatic and he got it by sheer volume, no pedals or fx. His guitar was 10 times louder than anything onstage up til then and I initially just thought he was being the big star but, like Hendrix himself, that's how Gary gets that sound
my favorite version of foxy lady, and jimi is my favorite guitarist, something about this performance is just too bloody good, that first solo man... never get tired of it.
That's not guitar solo man ! That's like chopping on the heart with a (red) Indian hand axe ! Man what a heart wrenching solo! Gary How could you ! How could you do that !!! I am drop dead man !
Damn right ! I eat blues, I live in blues, I sleep in blues, I dream in blues but I bleed in Red, courtesy of Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Gary Moore, Roy Buchanan, Carlos Santana, Neal Schon and Warren Haynes.
Gary took Hendrix covers to another level to which I have yet to see repeated. What a guitarist who could play any genre! Really in a league of his own.RIP

Gary and Mark knopfler...Fuck Tullamore Dew...lol
CK Kim no he does not that belongs to jimi henderix

My biggest regret in life is that I never got to see Jimi Hendrix play live, my second greatest regret is that I never got to see Gary Moore.
I never saw SRV live, but have watched many of his videos. Love the guy, one of the greatest as well
Gary Clark I am 57 and I was really too young to see Jimi, but would have loved it. Gary is one I so, so, so wish I had seen.
I was lucky enough to see Gary twice on the Still Got The Blues tour. If you think this is good then seeing him live would have blown your mind.

one of the most underrated guitarists ever, the guy was a guitar magician.
It's a real shame how underrated this guy is, for real. Unbelievable! Definitely one of the very, VERY best to ever pick up the guitar.

Not underrated, everyone that knows of him, KNOWS he’s otherworldly. He’s just not as well known as his talents justify.
