I entirely agree with most of your recommendations, but I have a couple suggestions. First, if you are going into a CQB/CQC environment, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AN ATHLETIC PROTECTOR/NUT CUP. I'm not kidding when I say this will make you SO much happier in the long run) Second, for those who do wear glasses, make sure you find goggles that can accommodate your glasses without pushing them around too much OR being too loose. If they are too tight, you may find that they are hard to get on and off, and then end up making your head/face hurt, but if they are too lose they might not protect your eyes and end up causing MANY more issues for you. Just a couple of recommendations from my experiences as a ref, and a player

You told me it wouldn't hurt. But then my first session was with all gas and most of them being like 300 FPS+ heavy BB's. Honsetly, even if I was gonna cheat, I would never want to cheat with those guns pointing at me.
@@fayevibar7560 yeah, I shot somebody sub 3 metres in the hand with a gun that shoots .2g at 320 FPS. And guess what, somehow the BB penetrated the skin?

Gear I had for my first ever game: 1# Croccs - Tactical battle-ready shoes that everyone can get 2# Mittens - Most comfortable hand protection 3# The hoodie - Nothing says chad more than a 5-year-old hoodie that you only wear at home now 4# Second hand AR with a broken fire mode switch - Yep, my trigger finger is that quick. definitely not going full auto indoors.
The funniest memory I have playing airsoft was I think my 3rd game, so I was really new to it, but I had joined the military a year before hand so I was much better in fire fights and tactics than most people there. Everyone knew I was new to the sport, and expected me to be pretty bad at it. They realized I wasn't when I cleared a 2 story building and took out 9 people by myself.
Btw, two years later and your video is still quite true and relevant. Useful for first time players. I know I was so many probably are too, nervous when they first go play.. Its like that first day at a new school. You dont know what or who to expect, you arent sure what to do.. you are intimidated. I am comfortable now because I found everyone I played with to be helpful, willing to give advice, fair, and I got to try a variety of different types of guns.. People are usually very willing to show and demonstrate the weapons they use to you. Get past the butterflies in your stomach the first day and you will probably find yourself playing something you really enjoy.
Having played paintball for years,, I kinda know what to expect. A friend recommended the CYMA M-14 full size and it works wonderfully. Comes from the factory with a 6.05mm barrel, fairly tight tolerance so must use quality bb's and I find it works best with about 32gram bb's. What you said about face and eye protection cannot be stressed enough. Do NOT skimp or be cheap about the face and eye protection you buy. Often you may come around a corner and exchange shots with an opponent at close range. Getting hit in the face at close range is something you will not soon forget and if it hits an eye, you just lost one. Protection is number one.
“If the glasses break you won’t get injured so wear these instead” Even they don’t injure you I would be way to scared anticipating my glasses breaking
Mad to think that this was the video that got me into airsoft and what to buy. It’s fun to look back and see how much times have changed with my kit since this video
In return for doing such a great video, I'm leaving comments as you requested. You've got a great demeanor and pacing when speaking so it's easy to listen and learn from your post. You also have a rather well balanced opinion that takes into account a lot of what is noobs are thinking about and steer us in the right direction. I look forward to other posts! Good job. Oh yeah, I don't think you mentioned gloves. May not be needed on day 1 and many may like the dexterity loss when wearing them. But I can see how they're a good and inexpensive thing to have with you.
It's tough when you are young or struggling on income for sure, I've been there myself... but not impossible. Depending where you live there can be very good second hand markets both on kit and AEGs themselves that saves a ton over buying things new with honestly little downside if you are willing to learn maintenance. Sites vary, but there are also places that focus on making the experience cheap. If travel is the issue, then I feel ya... not much you can do if there's no site near you unless local laws allow for setting up something yourself or local club games, but airsoft is definitely not dominated by money, just does need a little investment to enjoy. I've personally only ever bought 1 new rifle, the rest have been second hand, and the one new one was from the cheapest end possible. I'd rather work on them and save cash!
I’m 17 and work part time min wage at a gas station and I can easily afford Airsoft. Now, I had to switch to Airsoft from paintball because it’s WAY more expensive. But Airsoft is realistically really cheap, and anyone who has a job can scrape together a couple hundred bucks to start out, and just rent if you really wanna play.
Howie Mandel and if it’s still tight, ditch all the bullshit MilSim stuff. 90% of it is costume stuff anyways and is totally unnecessary for the average player on the average field
I'm sorry but I have to agree, don't get into airsoft if you don't have money, you'll only be teasing your self by looking at all the shit you can't afford xD
Great vid! I got a two tone gun years ago and ended up not even being able to go and sold it, I have now decided I definitely am going to get into it and I already told myself I won’t make that mistake again, it completely makes sense to just go and play a few times over weeks and months before getting a gun, and also by then you will be able to get your UKARA defence and buy a decent gun that ISNT in a bright and goofy two tone,
My first war I literally just showed up in a hoodie, ghost mask, blue jeans, safety glasses, and motorcycle gloves with my cheap scar-l and not so cheap glock 18c decided to play frontline but now I upgraded my new gas scar to a scar 20 and I play sniper

what you should get is a good military style vest, one that has back prot as well. I have one that is very similar to the real thing. You really don't need to waste money on a vest and belt, a single vest that is complete will do. The magazines are more orderly, in actual pouches, and you can easily attach the pouches to molle. Just a thought, seems more efficient :),
Jokes aside, very useful video however I have to point out at approx 13:10 you begin to explain why not to purchase a sidearm first. Where I am from, local sites I have called and enquired about only provide a sidearm for rental. So to be honest. I don’t think it matters too much if a sidearm is your first gun, if you can find the fun in moving through with just a pistol, you immediately will know you will love and appreciate the time and effort you went/will go through to acquire your UKARA license ID.
Just a note I would like to point out that buying your bb's before you visit a site is not a very good idea. The site I mainly play at is a bio bb only site since it is in the forest and the landlord wants to keep it safe for animals when people arent playing and just likes to keep the natural area as clean as possible. Shooting white plastic or any other bb besides ones they have verified will get you sent home for the day. Check your sites requirements.
I get ya sir, but you should be able to check that in advance - if they have rules like that and don't advertise it on their website then that's pretty unfair honestly - and often sites will charge a premium above local or online shops, and at least in the UK, are frequently run by individuals with limited stock and can run out of the ammo you'd like as the day goes on... which means making hop adjustments and all sorts, I've even had a day ended because the BB's on sale just refused to feed with my tightbore barrel. I'd just recommend reading up on the site in advance and making sure you adhere to the site rules, which is sound advice regardless honestly! :)
Late to the party but as someone who’s looked for a long time to get into this hobby, your video has pushed me a bit closer. Great vid and advice - Alex

@@tomi9562 i don't think Google maps knows your biking speed. Average is 6mph, meaning the driving time would been to be based off driving 18mph to be accurate. But younger people might be able to go 2x as fast, I assume you are young. So 12mph and 36mph respectively. I assume the driving speed on Google maps is the streets speed limit and a majority of the drive will probably be 55mph. For an average of 50 given stops, traffic, and slower streets. 50/3 is still over 15mph which would be really hard to do. I would expect a biking trip to take 6-10x the driving time, realistically. So something like 6-10 hours 🤔
Good advice: As he mentioned, a lot of times you probably missed the enemy. So you should invest in a tracer unit to see where your bbs are going. It can help you lead your shot if you’re firing at a moving opponent. It will also give you a better idea to determine if you hit somebody or not. And if somebody claims that you didn’t hit them with a ref or something, you know they’re lying. Or use a flashlight. 🤷🏽♂️
This is awesome thank you so much. My brothers and I go to a junkyard near our house and we made obstacles and forts all over that place. When our cousins are over we kinda fool around and make teams and stuff but I want to get into more advanced playing against higher skilled players so this helps a lot. Thanks again, very good advice.
You don’t “need” a “permit” at all. You just need to convince the retailer that have have a valid defence to purchase a rif. Ukara or other such membership is just ONE type of defence.

1. Buy cheap recommended on forums AEG rifle, buy cheap but good CQB pistol, buy the cheapest pistol holder, additional magazines, buy cheap balistic glasses, buy some face protection buy ammo, greengas, find in a closet some decent boots, pay an entry fee and ... enjoy the company of try-hards, self appointed warlords, idiots, cheeters, drunks and psychopaths. 2. Become one of them or loose all the faith in humanity. Learn new tactical moves like running away from the anemys range, dodging bullets, determining if anyone saw you've been hit, relaying a tactical information to your team when you're dead and many more. 3. Sell all the equipment you previously bought to buy a fancy tactical gloves and spend your family fortune on the weaponry that shoot 3m further within local arena fps limits. 4. Be bored because no one respects that you are the only one true commander.

Very good tutorial video I would very much like to try airsoft. I'm 67 is that to old to start .I'm retired and need do some kind of activity. Going back to your video, you explained in detail what is needed .10 out of 10. Great advice.
As long as you are feeling OK with the concept there's no reason why 67 would be too old! One of the best bits about airsoft is the inclusivity and the ability to do things at your own pace regardless of who you are or your age. Great for exercise and having a reason to meet new folks. As options go, it's a pretty good one and lacks some of the downsides of a lot of sports where you end up a bit more forced pace wise. It also has the secondary benefit of having plenty of tinkering and prep done at home so even when you aren't actively playing it's a fun hobby. Thanks for the kind comments, glad to have helped!
Thank you sir. Very helpful. I also have cats and the first thing they did today after I setup some targets was play behind my targets where I couldnt reach them. Goofy things they are. I'm using Airsoft as a starting point teaching basic gun safety to Very basic new shooters as I like living but the airsoft sport itself is new to me and I can see where it can be helpful in self defense scenarios and alot of fun.

“If the glasses break you won’t get injured so wear these instead”
Even they don’t injure you I would be way to scared anticipating my glasses breaking
I think he meant to say if the BB breaks when it hits the glasses, it wont hurt you as its solid glass/plastic instead of mesh. XD

Step 1: don’t have a poor, average salary.
I’m young and I have to use the power of the purse so yea
I’m 17 and work part time min wage at a gas station and I can easily afford Airsoft. Now, I had to switch to Airsoft from paintball because it’s WAY more expensive. But Airsoft is realistically really cheap, and anyone who has a job can scrape together a couple hundred bucks to start out, and just rent if you really wanna play.
Howie Mandel and if it’s still tight, ditch all the bullshit MilSim stuff. 90% of it is costume stuff anyways and is totally unnecessary for the average player on the average field

True. Thanks for the reply and being super nice!

@@tomi9562 you can ride a bike at 1/3 the speed a car drives? 🤣
@@gravestoner2488 according to google maps
Good advice:
As he mentioned, a lot of times you probably missed the enemy.
