    My wife and I are both disabled (RA & MS) and own four power wheelchairs. We both enjoy ALL your videos. Please keep them coming.

    Hello, there are many high-performance, high-speed greases on the market. Could you specify the brand or one of the ones you use? Thank you

    Thanks Frank for the information...why does the battery of a new electric wheelchair drain even without being used?

    • @astrosmell
      @astrosmell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sometimes when batteries are new, say 3 months old. If they have not been charged from time to time say every 2 weeks, the batteries will start to go dead. If you think you may have an electrical slow drain, unplug the joystick when not in use this will break the circuit. Frank 352 999 4477

    This is a very informative vid 😊 My cousins salsa m2 power chair makes a whining and high Squeaky sound when moving at all times 😅 is there a fix for this? The man that checked it said u just have to live with it

      Im certain there is a fix. First, you have to directly locate the sound(s) origin. My suggestion is to use a length of hose garden or other, like a stethoscope while running the chair to find exactly where sound(s) are coming from. Squeaks are generally easier to fix with lube, whines may be coming from the gearboxes, which can be regreased. If the sound is from the motor(s) you may be stuck. Sometimes removing the drive wheels and cleaning any debris on axle between wheel and gearbox will help a brushing sound. Frank

    Hi Recently, a bad smell comes from under my wheelchair , knowing that a month has passed since I installed two new 55-volt batteries in place of the first one, which was 65 volts.

      55 volts? That is unusual. Do you mean 55ah (amp hour) batteries. I would check al the connections having to do with the batteries. Especially if the smell is like burning plastic. Frank

    Very informative video thank you. Was wondering if you could tell me whether I need new motors or just brushes my Jazzy elite HD sometimes hesitates when I go to make extreme turns like a pinpoint turn. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.

      I cannot say for certain, but there is a field of programming that can be changed to increase turn acceleration. As well, your joystick could possibly have a "dead spot". Frank 352 999 4477

    Hi Frank, thanks for this video. I recently acquired a Jazzy Select for my Wife to get around on. Still looking for a carrier for it. This is turning into an expensive venture, but it will be worth it when we decide to go out and she won't have to be worried about walking. I've been curious as to how these motors work and how the brakes were constantly on. Is it a fairly easy procedure to pull the motors on these Jazzy's? It's a 2008 model and I have no info of how much or how often it was used so I'm thinking a little preventative maintenance might be a wise thing to do

      You may be able to check the brushes without removing the motors. Sometimes the motors can be a chore to remove without the right tools and flex extensions. A flexible spring type extension, I find helps a lot.

    For a while I have a problem with my joystick, so I don't know is it electric or mechanical problem. The thing is: when is push my joystick in any direction, on my left motor it seems the brake just don't release 100%, it stuck on the half way. Right motor works well. So I don't know is there some problem with joystick, wires, mechanical stuff? Or just there is a dirt under the joystick cover or connectors maybe? And yeah, joystick get warm a little bit sometimes in that condition, not too much.

      By default a brake is on. When they go bad they default to on. Meaning, most likely your brake is going bad. Thanks, Frank 18007171252

    Can keeping the gear box in the sun leach out the oil?

    • @astrosmell
      @astrosmell  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think that heat would speed up the process if the grease was questionable.

    Hi Frank. My Pride Quantum 600 is leaking oil between the gearbox and motor. Is there a seal that needs to be replaced or just clean out the oil/grease and repack it? The motor unit is the DRVMOTR1241. Thanks.

      Hey there. I would start by opening the gearbox to see how much oil is in there. The grease sometimes breaks down into oil. sometimes just a little, sometimes a lot. I do not know why some grease turns to oil more than others but it varies. If it is not a lot of oil, I would just remove it and repack with high speed grease. If there is a lot, I would clean the coupler in between the box and motor because Iv`e seen oil ruin a motor before. Also oil may prematurely break down the rubber in the sacrificial coupler.

    Hello, I need some information from you! I have to change the oil in the engine reducer from my electric trolley! Can you please tell me what type of oil is compatible and what series of oil to buy?

    Off the subject but, my disability is a lumbar back injury. My chairs have the foam filled wheels that ride like a battle wagon. Is there a decent pneumatic option that won't leave me dead in the water with a flat but doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

    • @astrosmell
      @astrosmell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK, if you dont mind wrecking your tubes, you can get pneumatic tires and tubes, then put slime in them. Messy but effective for thorns and such. Same relative cost as solid tires. Call if you want prices. Also please have the size of your tires ready.
      Thanks,
      Frank
