Welcome to the game. For the random salvage boxes you got a light mech - Locust IIC (clan upgraded/improved locust), medium - Shadow Hawk IIC (clan upgrade/improved Shadow Hawk), Heavy- Jagermech (walking trashcan with so much guns and ammo, that should it explode you might see it from orbit), and the legendary is a Assault - Devastator (twin PPC and twin gauss rifles, with four medium lasers for backup, nasty machine). If your looking for the King Crab it is in the Comstar Command Level II boxset (also comes with the black knight, sentinel, mercury, exterminator, and highlander). Weight brackets are Light - 20 to 35 tons medium - 40 to 55 tons heavy - 60 to 75 tons assault - 80 to 100 tons, there are Super Heavy battlemechs in later eras, but they are not very common and are anything that goes over 100 tons.
@greydeathangel do regular Battletech players really like the salvage boxes? I can see mystery packs for a game like Magic where they have the super rare cards, but it doesn't appear like Battletech has that. Doesn't seem like there is any benefit to the random chance
@@thegimpygamer It all depends on the person I guess. Me personally I prefer the ability to know what mech I'm getting. With that I only have had the random salvage box through both the Kickstarters, and none other than that. @Avtarangel thanks for letting me know. It's kinda hard for new people entering the hobby to understand how it all fits together. Comstar this, Omnimech that. Hell I just discovered that there are different eras of mechs covering hundreds of years. The lore behind this game rivals that of 40k. Speaking of the salvage boxes they don't appear to provide as much value. One random mech at a cost of 10-15 per box doesn't seem worth it when I can get a box of 4-5 mechs for not much more. Is there something I am missing? Are there super rare mechs in some boxes kinda like how Magic cards work?
The Legendary Devastator is different from the starter box Devastator. So slight difference in the weapon load out I belive. Have fun with your plastic crack!
Just a quick note, you mentioned "it took a couple years to finally deliver"... this KS concluded last April. A year and a couple months is pretty quick for such a huge project to go from Kickstarter project to in your hands. :) Other than that, very fun to see these box openings. I'm still waiting on mine, unfortunately. lol
The light and medium you got, the locust iic and shadow hawk iic, are both good, really solid clan mechs. The Jagermech is an excellent fire support sniper heavy mech. I run one often and it does great work. The devastator is new with this Kickstarter, but everything thing I have read and seen for it, shows it is a great assault mech.
@KnightofRome01 can I run any mech with any team? What I mean is if I am setting up a game with 2 opposing sides does it matter what mechs are put on either side, or can I just it like a free for all?
@@thegimpygamer in general yes. If you are into the lore and want to stay true to the fluff, some Mechs are more likely with specific factions. Some to the Level that it is nearly impossible to see it in another faction. But only nearly, exceptions happens so yeah, you can use every Mech on every Side.
"It took them ages to deliver" and yet you are among the first one to get it, Europe and Asia hasn't even started to ship or have a date of when they will begin shipping yet. They actually reported running the same amount of each mech. So there is no "Super rare" pull. And the cool thing about battletech is there is no "bad" mech. Each has its place and role. The fact that they’re using mechs from some of the first releases actually surprises me.
Random mechs in boxes? What a ripoff. I bet the nerds selling these en mass have a sneaky peak inside first and sell nothing but duplicates online.
