You guys are on the right track! Please don’t gaslight yourselves. Lie is basically a song about Jimin’s internal struggles with his identity and insecurities. It really showcases how stressful and dangerous being a kpop idol is to both your mental and physical health
Lie was written by Jimin about his past self. He blamed himself for his shortcomings & felt he wasn’t good enough. He was deep in the lies from his past, blaming himself regardless of the truth. He pondered on his flaws & mistakes even if others didn’t. Jimin’s solos are unique & memorable. Lie is a masterpiece. Classical musicians reacting to this song don’t expect an orchestra and Spanish-guitar in the opening. When he sings ‘caught in a lie’ , the impact from minor to major cord creates anxiety and is almost a ‘lie in itself’. Jimin’s performances are always captivating. This is one of my favorite Jimin songs. The performance to this is captivating and expressed his anguish.
holy shit im actually so impressed by how spot on yalls interpretation is, great job y'all! i also really appreciate how much effort y'all put into analyzing the concepts, it can be overwhelming because there is so much to take in separately (lyrically, visual concepts, choreo, etc) but don't stress - that's part of the fun of bts
i prefer the Live of LIE 😂 i didnt expect this one will show when i open because most if reactors always chose Live versions. the Choreography of LIE in all Live performances was Iconic. thank you for reacting Jimin's solo😊
i love how you guys really care about the message behind a song or a concept trying to figure it out and do not react to bts just for hype and views. appreciate you a lot
If you guys enjoy theorizing & trying to figure things out I say go for it. And if you just wanna enjoy the music not thinking too hard about it you can do that too. Whatever makes things enjoyable for you guys. Your right about music and art having different interpretations, you guys are going based off what you know from what you've watched so far and it's hard to remember things that happened in previous mv's like I Need U and Run for storyline stuff. And it's hard to pick up subtle things in songs that pertains to their real life and emotions during that particular time. If you haven't seen loads of their content like behind the scenes or their official documentaries so on it's hard to have a full picture. And there is a lot of times where the song can mean multiple things or we army assume things that might mean something else especially if the member has never spoken about it. Jimin though has been very open about his personal struggles of being a perfectionist, feeling inadequate, and being way too hard on himself. So fans have a lot to draw from in his case on what he's speaking on. The next member V however has never explained his song and what it's about, RM said only V knows truly what it means so that one's gonna be a bit harder. But I think focusing on the feelings it talks about rather then conjecture about it's true meaning is the way to go with that one
The song starts with the image of a snow covered Forest. Our first reaction is this looks so picture perfect right? Only to notice later that indeed its *just a picture* while jimin is shown sitting behind a camera, which means behind the scenes are completely different. He's trapped in this two faced industry, where they need to be perfect but in reality they're on the verge of insanity hence the asylum bed & those pills. But fame comes at a price, so is he ready to take a chance? He bites the poison apple at the end giving into temptation & smiles eerily into the camera. Also these 7 BU films are connected. The Snow colored forest of Lie is shown red in Begin. The water in which jimin is drowning is shown in Begin drenching the painting n making paint bleed which is further shown in Blood Sweat and Tears MV. Jimin has always been symbolised with water/rain while jungkook is fire.
y'all are right!! Jimin has struggled a lot with his identity and insecurities with his femininity. on the wings era he struggled a lot wioth his voice and since he's a perfectionist he obviously got mad and sad that sometimes he wasn't perfect on stage, he wasn´t very confident and it also was a really exhausting time for everyone in the group. so yeah rough times but as of today i feel like he's more confident, its not like he has come out or smt, he's just Park Jimin, a really hard working, perfectionist and affectionate person.
Lie is my favorite Jimin song. It expresses the duality of situations or outlook and the inner struggles which is a recurring theme in a lot of his songs like Filter, Like Crazy, Set Me Free Pt.2 etc. The wonderful aspect to all these is that Jimin was able to showcase his versatility by expressing them in different genres and levels of progression. In regards to Jimin's songs, Lie is where I connected to Jimin the most. His vocal expressions were very compelling and heartfelt.
imposter syndrome anthem. it’s personally my favorite bts solo song still to this day. just insane production and composition!! cant wait for the next video :)
This entire album was one of the reasons why I fell in love with BTS. Stigma and Lie are my favorite songs in this album, but honestly all songs in Wings are precious
you guys are on point with your coments ! This song is a peace of art. Magnificent classical sound, deep lyrics, amazingly expressive vocals, beautiful and captivating choreography and mesmerizing Jimin in the live performance (Hope you will watch it one day) . Jimin had full participation in the writing and composition of this masterpiece. Each solo in the Wings album is related to the BU (bangtan Universe) aka the fictional storyline witch run threw MV and albums since "I need you", specially the short films. So the lyrics of Lie fits to the fictional character played by Jimin but it's also related to Jimin himself, the struggles he faced, and we can feel the authentic emotions and pain. The Wings album revolves around the concept of Hermann Hesse’s novel, ‘Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair’s Youth’, as you said . A coming of age piece that uses myths and references to follow the journey of a young boy to self-realization. One of the key points of this book is the importance of accepting the “dualism”, the idea of 2 opposing forces (maybe good and bad or truth vs fake) that are both necessary in life. This idea is portrayed by Jimin’s solo where we see an inner fight between his two sides, his true and insecure self, and the mask that he created to face the world but is swallowing him up (as in the verse : the prey vs the snake) . It’s a complex song where metaphors, vocal and music composition details mix to vignette a cry for help.("caught in a lie" is the only line of the song in a major key (usually associated with happiness), while the rest of the song is in a minor key (usually associated with sadness, mystery, unease). So, the line "caught in a lie" is itself a lie amongst the rest of the song - the "happiness" is a lie) . This song is a portrait of what struggling with your identity, insecurities and inner demons is. RM explained that Jimin used to blame himself for all the failures and shortcomings, having thoughts like “I’m not good enough, I can’t do this” and that he wrote the song reflecting that mentality. Knowing this reflective way of working to deliver an honest history is why this song is so important for so many ARMY. Jimin's journey to self love is so inspiring for a lot of us.
Wings deserves soo much love and I deeply appreciate how thoughtfully you are going through them. Each member for a song topic/name and ran with it and for the vocal line they got more experience making song and solo songs after the rapline had all been doing so for a while. Lie is one of the standouts musically although Suga First Love is my absolute favorite of the 7 but all of them are amazing.
Hi guys! if you'll continue this until #7.. with trailer then lyric video only.. I hope that after you're done.. you'll watch their LIVE PERFORMANCES.. all in one reaction! you'll love it mooooore!! 💜🥰 I enjoyed your reactions. Thank you for appreciating BTS and deeply dissecting their lyrics.. 💜 Borahae from the Philippines. 🥰
Don't be so hard on yourselves with the interpretations. As others have commented, you may want to consider doing a video combining all the live versions of these songs once you finish with the short films. Also HYYH (The Most Beautiful Moment I Life) 10th anniversary coming next year. This will hopefully continue and give closure to the Bangtan Universe (BU) storyline that began with 'I Need You'! 💜
You guys are doing great. the 7 short films are pieces of a puzzle in the Bangtan Universe. It's hard to figure them out when you don't have all the puzzle pieces. But the songs themself are written by the artist about their feelings and emotions. You're on the right track. 💜💜💜
I agree. I struggle with those and both this song & The Truth Untold stopped me in my tracks the first time I listened to them. They still hit hard tbh.
Oh man.... can't believe your resident ARMY didn't make you watch the live performance. 😭 One of my absolute favorite Jimin songs/performances all time! 🥺 Love what you are doing but sometimes you have to do the live. 😭And I hope you are able to enjoy this section of their history. You can just appreciate the songs for the songs and not overthink the BU. That really is a whole different journey. I did a deep dive and spent plenty of hours sorting it out and then watched theory videos etc... I think I have a pretty good handle on it but even then... there is not even a full conclusion to it as far as I've determined and it is sad and dark. When you get to Blood Sweat and Tears explanation video, you will start to understand how much detail they put into everything they do that most of us never even notice despite trying. What I like about their songs is there are layers to their songs and each person can interpret them how they want or need, and they work. Most have surface and deep levels of meaning. LIE th-cam.com/video/5iUUVpoysQM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EgfnqGnSC-Omf9Mw
Hey trying to guess things is half the fun!!! Go with it!! I think Jimin said he felt like he was not good enough at anything when he started and felt like his whole persona in BTS was built on lies. I think imposter syndrome maybe could have been part of what he was feeling. Where people are praising you and giving you all these things and you don't think you deserve them and are afraid that soon enough they will all find out. Idk. It's a great song. There is a very good live performance too.
Nice reaction guys. Please remember that the short films are hints into the BU storyline, and the songs may loosely link to the film but could refer to the individuals actual life. So your take on the film could be correct and your different take on the song could also be correct. Art is subjective. Journey on... 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Hey guys, keep doing what you're doing. You're doing amazing... When you complete all the music videos, go watch the BU ( bangtan Universe ) there you will find all the meanings to the songs and how they connect... But first of all you need to watch the MVS so you can remember and understand what they're talking about. 💜
So, there is another theory that is out there. This song is about the s*x ass***t that occurs in the kpop world with these young artist. Don’t know if he is singing as a victim, potential victim or about the general issue. JK has even talked about when he was 12/13, he was approached by 7 companies after auditioning. One of the companies wanted him to come to a hotel room so they could film his audition. You can only imagine what could have happened. Thankfully, he had other options and had the foresight not to go. There are other details with Jimin, but this is not the forum to discuss.
Songs may mean something specific to the author but once released, like many art forms, it belongs to whoever picking up what’s being put down as you said. Kpop fans tend to be dogmatic and unidimensional sorry if you are a Kpop fan reading this. I am just being honest after giving Kpop spaces a try for the past 3 years. They tend to think there is one “true” meaning like math. It isn’t math. 2 + 2 can be whatever you want. The answer isn’t always 4. Not even to the author. I know this video isn’t new. But I have to validate what you said. Please keep up your good work and stay true to your own sense of music and enjoyment.
This one is not listed in the playlist, this is my first time watching the video too, but i knew it existed, so i search through your video list. Btw, this not relatable but the lighting in your video make you guys colourful. When i first watching your reactions, you guys were the pink, yellow and white guy.
I don't know y but this feels like the story of Adam and Eve falling for the lie from satan and realizing that they are now stuck on earth cuz of it and they are asking god to save them. also the "apple" and asking for their innocence back.
Dude I don't know what Utoob's problem is but they keep ghosting my comments! I don't know what random word they are censoring or legit why. I'm subbed, I've been commenting no spam, I don't even post links & I've been nothing but positive with my words while trying to give info.
Anyways, Nice Vid. If you guys enjoy theorizing & trying to figure things out I say go for it. And if u just wanna enjoy the music not thinking too hard about it u can do that too. Again my comment I posted under this is blocked from anyone viewing it. Do you guys have email or other socials where I can comment cuz Utoob is being a B for no reason!
My comment is part from an investigation of an ARMY from the Catholic University of Perú her name is: Fernanda Mía Chávez Eyzaguirre. This will help you to understand the meaning behind this video. "The second short film, LIE, is also chronologically representing the first chapter of the novel and includes a quote from it at the beginning: "A world was constituted by the paternal house [...] This world seemed very familiar to me: it was called father and mother, love and severity, example and school" (Hesse 2012: 15). In terms of the plot, it appears to reference the moments when Sinclair hides the situation from his parents after lying about stealing some apples. In the short film, the close relationship between Jimin and J-Hope, the protagonist of MAMA, is evident, with the latter representing Demian who arrives to save him from the uncertainty he is facing in solitude. Jimin seems to be "[...] struggling with himself, and he is desperately looking for a friend, a presence" (Ada 2017). The phrases "show me the way. Stop me. Let me breathe" (1:57) and "I'm trapped inside myself, I'm dead" (2:10) are cries for help that he doesn't express outwardly but consume him internally: "just a lie, a crack in the world of light" (Minumsa 2016c). His call extends to Suga, who in Blood, Sweat and Tears will become his new guide."
Don't worry guys, I've been an ARMY since JULY 2021 and honestly sometimes i still don't understand everything there is a cheat explanation video on YT about the BTS BU i watched it and i was still confused, am sorry i can't remember the actual name of the video but maybe another member of ARMY on here will know what am talking about.
This song has a lot of connotations to being in the closet. If you listen to the song, the lyrics.... it's as if a gay man is dying to set himself free and stop pretending to be something they aren't.💜
You guys are on the right track! Please don’t gaslight yourselves. Lie is basically a song about Jimin’s internal struggles with his identity and insecurities. It really showcases how stressful and dangerous being a kpop idol is to both your mental and physical health

Lie is definitely one of the best kpop songs ever. When Jimin dropped this in 2016 it was a cultural reset

BTS's songs are so deep.
For me, Lie is confrontation between him and his stage persona which is his shadow. I know I ain't making any sense. 😅
A voice do JIMIN é unica

The visuals and the song are part of the very complex storyline that crosses many albuns.
React to the live it's incredible 😮😮😮❤🇨🇵
In short to me this song about self loathing, self blaming and self deprecation
I agree. I struggle with those and both this song & The Truth Untold stopped me in my tracks the first time I listened to them. They still hit hard tbh.

The scenes in the introductory MVs are tied to the BTS Universe (BU) and the member underlying character arcs as part of the universe.

I interpreted it to mean he was caught in a lie in regards to his identity. Kind of feeling imposter syndrome - but I definitely could be wrong too 😅

Anyways, Nice Vid. If you guys enjoy theorizing & trying to figure things out I say go for it. And if u just wanna enjoy the music not thinking too hard about it u can do that too. Whatever makes things enjoyable for you guys. Your right about music & art having different interpretations, u guys are going based off what you know from what you've watched so far and it's hard to remember things that happened in previous mv's like I Need U & Run for storyline stuff. It's hard to pick up subtle things in songs that pertains to their real life & emotions during that particular time. If u haven't seen loads of their content like behind the scenes or their official documentaries so on it's hard to have a full picture. But I think focusing on the feelings it talks about rather then trying to figure out what it's about is the way to go with that one 💜💜💜
Again my comment I posted under this is blocked from anyone viewing it. Do you guys have email or other socials where I can comment cuz Utoob is being a B for no reason!
That’s super weird! Maybe on our X
@@TAHBofficial Ok I'll try there.
16:39 yes everyone should be free to have their own perspectives...

This song has a lot of connotations to being in the closet. If you listen to the song, the lyrics.... it's as if a gay man is dying to set himself free and stop pretending to be something they aren't.💜
