Perry's modesty shines through here. In the history of popular singing Perry Como has to play second fiddle to absolutely nobody yet his respect and admiration for Crosby is utterly genuine. Great video.
The passing of Perry Como left a void in the world of musical entertainment. We are the less without him. He was one of the greatest ever crooners, but he was lucky that in his day there were lots of great songwriters with great songs for him to sing. Great songs which we have allowed to drift into oblivion and replaced with primitive sounds masqueraded as music. Great songs are like great paintings, if you do not preserve them, you lose them - forever.
Some very great music from an era when music was music... a bouquet of roses to TH-cam and everyone who makes it possible for us in 2009 to see some enchanting performances of some real music people.... Incredible that these clips are still around... Mucho gracias... from Missouri USA.... missed the Perry Como Christmas special in Taos, New Mexico in the mid 80's or so.... still looking for it
I remember watching this Brilliant Special... Oh, I wish I had taped it. How I Loved Both these Exveptional Crooners... still play their music regularly. And, really Loved Perry's tribute of "Wind Beneath My Wings" on this show. Thank you
I always felt this was one of Perrys best special appearances, his heart was really in it. We were fans and then friends for years, unfortunately not long enough years, but so it goes...We love you and miss you Perry. Jeff and Linda
I got married that day in Charlestown, MA. Yikes!! 31 years ago. I sang "And I Love You So" at the reception. www.reverbnation.com/soundslikefrank/songs God Bless Mr C.
Bonita made her American television debut in the Emmy Award nominated television series "Evening at Pops" (1970-2005). When you're watching an 1988 episode of the television series, "A Tribute at Bing Crosby" you're looking at Bonita, but hearing Madeleine Stowe. Also, Randy Graff Weil's vocals were also lip syncing by Elayne Boosler (Mrs. Bill Siddons, 1984- present). Well anyway, that's my extraordinary opinion.
Me thinks me hears Thurl Arthur Ravenscroft ('You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch) off camera, encouraging Messrs. Como and Crosby to record another song. I could be wrong . . .
You got to live through the golden age of music and movies, Mr. Wormald. I came a little later, but I'm grateful for the technology that allows me to go back and visit those years. I was lucky to see Tony Bennett in concert in 2002 and again in 2017. Regretfully, I never saw any of the other great talents.
Bing Crosby was sooooo abusive to all his children and screwed around on all his wives all the time, two of his sons committed suicide because of it. Look It up . I used to like his movies and voice but since I found this out, I just can't bare to listen to him! What a loser!!! Perry como was a great man though!!! Love him!!
You are so far off base about Bing that it is astounding. 1. His sons suicides had very little (if anything) to do with Bing. 2. He may have stepped out on Dixie (maybe because of her problems - who knows), but he never cheated on Kathryn as far as I know). 3. Although he spanked his boys a little article under the redemption of Bing Crosby (2017) article should show you how much attention you should have payed to Gary's book. Maybe reading everything you can about Bing, instead of the negativity generated from Gary's book, will show you that some of the accusations have been called into question a lot.

Whats funny is hat both Perry and Bing did "Accentuate the Positive"
They don’t make them like Perry Como anymore.
AII PIERINO DOES IS A TREAT FOR THIS 82 YR OLD!!!

You don't know what your talking about! Read up on his sons comments on Gary the egoist.
