    Use Plasti-Dip to paint the back of your tank. That way if you ever want, you can just peel it right off. Looks great too.

    I think you are spot on with the heater idea , my goldfish are outside all year in a pond and yes they can survive sub zero temps but obviously they are much more active and happy in the summer when the water is 20 odd Deg c 👍

    Hi ,a nice set up for your cute little goldfish. Have they settled in well. I am looking for some nice goldfish for my pond. My local fish retailers only seem to stock common goldfish. Do you know where I could buy a few from ? 😊

      Thank you! They have indeed settled in well.. my next video that should come out tomorrow is an update of this tank!! I don’t really know of any places to buy goldfish outside of local fish stores unfortunately.. I do think Wakin goldfish would be cool for a little pond though.. they have a slightly fancier tail than common goldfish, but from what I hear, are just as hardy! 😊

    The superglue isn’t bad for them? Could I use hot glue?

    • @GingerFishyOfficial
      @GingerFishyOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, instant contact super glue is fine to use, as it dries completely inert.. its widely used in the aquascaping world. Just check that it says cyanoacrylate on the ingredients and you should be all good. I’m not too sure about hot glue, I have seen people use it, but I’ve never used it myself.. I did a bit of research on it a while ago and came to the conclusion that I wouldn’t use it.. hope that helps! 😊

    Where did you get the pre filter sponge from I can't find it anywhere I've got a fluval 307

    • @GingerFishyOfficial
      @GingerFishyOfficial  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got it on eBay. Its an Aquarium Coop one, which you can’t usually get in the UK, but someone was selling them on eBay for a while. But, I have found that the the sponge from the ‘Ocean Free Hydra Bio’ internal filter works quite well as pre-filter on a canister.. they come in different sizes though and I can’t remember which size it is that will fit a 307. If you have a Maidenhead Aquatics near you, they sell them. 👍

    I have some specific questions about Blue Phoenix Goldfish care. My husband loves them and I finally found a breeder that I got one from, however I just want to make sure I properly take care of it until he’s home. He’s currently deployed so it’s a surprise. I’m looking for the perfect filtration system for it with low flow so it doesn’t cause too much stress on the fish when it swims. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      @GingerFishyOfficial  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi there! That’s awesome!! What sort of size is the fish? Also, what size tank do you have? If you’re worried about too much flow, a sponge filter would be a good way to go.

      @@GingerFishyOfficial Would just a sponge filter clean it well enough between the water changes? Well I haven’t seen the fish in person yet - I pick it up next week, but it’s about 5 months old and the tank is 50 gallons

      @@bipolarpolarbear8645 50 gallons is a good size, and big enough that you could do something similar to what I’ve done in this tank setup, by pairing the sponge filter with a canister filter. Or if you’re not a fan of canister filters, you could go with a hang-on-the-back filter. I’m in the UK and for some reason we don’t really have many hang-on-the-back filters here, but I know they are quite big in the US, as I think they are easier to maintain than canister filters. But yeah, you could go with just a canister or just hang-on-back, as either would provide plenty of mechanical and biological filtration (you can also adjust the flow rate on most of them). The 207 fluval canister filter that I used in this tank had the flow rate turned down when I first put the fish in and then over time slowly turned it up as they got bigger and stronger. Also if you did go for a canister filter, you could always add a spray bar to the outlet for a more gentle flow. I do like to always have an airstone going in all my tanks though, so I tend to think if I’ve got an airstone going, it may as well be in a sponge filter. Also, by having a couple of filters going, if one stops working for any reason, you still have one going.

      @@GingerFishyOfficial Thank you! All this helps so much. We already have a goldfish tank, but a I got a separate one for these fish. Along with a Pearlscale I’ll be putting in as well. Our first goldfish tank does have a hanging filter, but I feel like the current would be too strong for a blue Phoenix or at least that’s what I’ve heard.

    Hi how are you getting aquarium coop filters in the UK ? Thanks

    • @GingerFishyOfficial
      @GingerFishyOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, I ordered them on eBay, and they actually came from Australia, I think Aquarium Coop was shipping there for a whilst (I think they may have stopped now though, but I’m not 100% sure). But anyway, yeah, I ordered a few on eBay, a bit pricey, but not too bad, obviously the shipping cost a bit, but what I forgot to take into account was the import tax.. 😫 so probably won’t be buying anymore.. I’m glad I managed to get a couple though, as I’ve been wanting to try them out for a while!

    some experts say sand and goldfish is a no no. what you think?

    • @GingerFishyOfficial
      @GingerFishyOfficial  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I’ve heard the same. Although it can sometimes be a bit confusing as I think there’s a big difference between a fine sand a more course sand like I used in this tank. Im personally not a big fan of fine sand, but I think the more course sand like what I used here works really well for goldfish, as it fine enough that food and waste doesn’t get trapped in it but it’s course enough to be able to gravel vac it. 😊
