When I was a kid I used to laugh at Snidely Whiplash's antics. Part of the humor came from the knowledge that there was no real human being who could possibly be as cartoonishly evil as he. After seeing George Santos and his fellow Republicans, I think we all owe Snidely Whiplash an apology.

@narcanninja I get what you're saying, and I might take it a step further. There's a "blaming the victim" mentality among sociopaths that applies here. A serial purse snatcher will have the philosophy of, "If they aren't guarding/watching the purse closely enough that I can't get it, they're asking to have it stolen." It doesn't take TOO much mental gymnastics to start applying that to yourself. I think Santos (or whatever his real name is) WANTS to get caught - he's been too good at what he does, for decades, and he's gotten bored with success. That's why he opted to pursue the limelight. He's smart enough to recognize in that context people would start holding his feet to the fire. Bottom line: the mind is a powerful, and despite the brst advances of neuroscience, still mysterious thing.

I thought Santos was going to get exonerated by the ethics committee due to Republicans antics. I am pleasantly surprised.
I'm pretty sure he's pissed them off on a personal level that we don't know about. Also, we should asking why he's not in jail at all considering all of that stuff, and the other crimes he's committed, and the stuff he's been credibly accused of could be prosecuted. Even when they kick him out, they're still protecting him from any real consequences, because they know deep down that if they start holding people in government accountable, they're going to go after each other.
Well, they're not kicking him out, so there's that.
