    I'm going to go ahead and state the obvious - Devoid of desperation, non stop talking and unnecessary overreactions, this is, by far, the best, most mature and well produced Automotive Channel on TH-cam.

    Outstanding work, George b'y. Thanks for including the shirt repair, we all need to remember to fix things lest we keep the cycle of unsustainable living going. Love the angle of the swarf falling down into the camera, and the remix of you manhandling the chassis. Hope you remember to sand that final piece before hammering and painting!

    When using a router or any other rotating tool you are supposed cut counter to the rotation of the cutter head. Although this is the rule it sometimes backfires and creates a mess in the wood. depending on the wood, usually Maple using the router in the proper way can lead to tear out.

    Good job with sewing repair. I keep all my favorite clothes patched, except for jeans. I gave on jeans falling apart a long time ago; they seem to just get to a point where they are going to self-destruct and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

    A small flaw and George declares the part ruined. Most replacement panel companies get a panel within half an inch, then advertise it as concourse replacement quality.
    It's guys like George that inspire us to try a little more. Top man.

    Awesome stuff George. I've just managed to drop the chassis out of my silver '79 S2. Started as a gearbox input shaft job 3 years ago, and just grew from there - as they do! Followed your work on the Esprit (and the interim Lotus avoidance / distraction projects) from the start. Total respect.

    Bombardier Global Express, most likely a 6000XP. One beast of of a corporate business jet. Love maintaining them, they are very finicky planes. But the satisfaction of seeing them always come back never gets boring.

    LOVELY Production values as always! The chip shot in particular was very cool.
    I too just recently discovered using a jigsaw for cutting thinner sheet metal. I recon it's safer, makes a cleaner cut, and requires less cleanup in most cases. The fine tooth metal blades are nice and smooth to use.

    The aluminum is a wonderful material for a die. FYI I use mdf for my dies for steel and aluminum sheet metal.

      Mdf is nasty stuff, be careful of the dust from it. Not good for you at all! You probably know that anyway.

      PS: as for routing aluminium, try doing it in multiple passes, lowering little by little... A skim at a time.

    Sometimes it takes 50 times longer to work out how you are going to do it, than actually doing it, but when it turns out like those dimples it is definitely not time wasted - especially when you can sew while you are thinking. Why do we always feel we need to start with the hardest task? Glad to see you are back into and on a roll with the Lotus.

    I was thinking you were making a die for a press the hard way, but NO, you were making a die for hand forming, very impressed. Those aluminium flakes are a pain though! They stick to EVERYTHING. My S2 Europa is still progressing slowly, like your Esprit! But even just a little tiny bit of progress is good progress.
