The Hunters on CE being easily killed by an M6D is because of a quirk in the enemy damage programming. They were actually supposed to last against several rounds of the gun, but ended up, well, accidentally becoming a one-shot kill due to said quirk. And with that in mind, there won't be any plans to fix this. Too I C O N I C and might lead to shouts of heresy if it went to that end.

Since the skin on the Hunter in-game is classified as their "head", any shot with a sniping or headshot-centric weapon will one-shot them if it's fired at their exposed parts. Hence why in H2 the pistol trick no longer works.

The Elites were literally conceived to resemble Samurai. Their energy sword is a stand-in for the katana. Their fighting principles revolved around honor, discipline, and great concentration. And when the brutes were conceived, they were made to contrast the Elites by being the polar opposite; big, lumbering, and obtuse. It's disappointing to see that 343 did not recognize this nuance.

Brutes can organize themselves to fight in a coordinated manner when they have to, but clearly they would prefer a defenseless enemy and would prefer to display their martial strength rather than “prowess” as the elites do. It seems to brutes fight for material things like wealth and power rather than abstract concepts like honor and fame. This is much akin to Vikings rather than Germanic hordes who were always fighting for land whether being defending tribal lands or migrating to new ones.

Bungie began this trend in Reach. I remember when they were developing invasion, there was a lot of talk about the asymmetrical nature of the gamemode, and how Elites were going to be larger and tougher than Spartans. I feel like 343 took this and rolled with it, but rolled a little bit too far, leaving behind their graceful and imperious nature in favor of brute strength.

Sectionized I still have my Halo Masterchief Collection because I love the classics. I only play 1-3 on it because the trilogy was the best. 4-5 I cared less for. I played them but 1-3 definitely my favorite just the way they were designed and the nostalgia of being a kid who'd play Halo when school was cancelled because of snow in elementary school. I understand companies have to evolve for newer generations but give something to us who have been there from the beginning. Give back to the first players of the Halo series. lol

I think halo reach had the best elite designs. Halo Reach’s elite design feels much closer to Halo CE elite design. It just has better graphics. Even the Spartan design in Halo Reach was awesome as well
I had never seen anything about the Halos past Reach until now, and all I can say is that those things look more like they come from the Gears universe.
I think reach had the best depiction of elites. They were these tall terrifying creatures that moved with such speed and grace. There would even demonstrate how strong they were when they easily shoved a spartan in mjolnir armor to the ground.

I think the elites in halo reach are my favorites, they look sleek and fast but also look a bit more muscular,i think the elites from original trylogy (especially from halo CE) look to skinny , but the ones from reach look just enough muscular to look stronger than a human but not as much as a brute

yeah i love the classic elites! I always thought of them like they were the samurai of the covenant. Just the way the elites present themselves and have such an importance on honor and nobility in their species. For them there is no greater honor than falling in battle, much like the traditional samurai and their warrior Bushido codes. Love em!

Actually, the elites in Halo 1 actually have a waaay deeper voice than what I have seen in this video. They do however, have a smooth voice that doesn't seem feral or brutish.

i think it has to do with the graphics as well. the thing with older halo games that i liked, was that it had brightness. 343 halo is literally dark, all the time. its completely washed out and has a total of four colors, Promethean red, 700 different shades of blue, and extremely bright white. Reach and the other bungie halo games had the full spectrum of colors, and, depending on the needed mood, could use color and lighting in a way to give multiple themes. 343 halo is just doom and gloom all the time, while the old games actually felt emotion, and gave a sense of hope behind the impending doom of the flood/covenant. specifically with Elites (and im mostly speaking in terms of machinima/movie-making) using the lighting correctly in halo reach could give an elite a huge number of "characters" my favorite example is the Rise of the Spartans Machinima, by black plasma studios. the Elites played a HUGE role in its story, and with Elites on either side of the conflict, they needed to show some in a certain mood that others wouldn't. lighting and color are massive parts in that area when it comes to film making. 343 apparently hasn't figured that out yet. 343 halo is mostly "filmed" in what movie-makers call high contrast. lots of extremely dark and extremely bright lights and colors in the shot all at once. it makes for a more intense, serious, and dark experience. the Bungie halo games were a mix between high and low key lighting, low for interior/flood, high for exterior areas. ever notice in the original halo games that bad stuff only happens indoors? or if there is something bad outside, there's heavy, overcast weather? this stuff goes unnoticed frequently. that turned into a rant fast........why does this happen to me...
I think H2A tskes the cake for me. The physiology and posture of elites in Reach was fine, and I really like the extra detail and fidelity, but the armors looked really... bulbous... to me. I think H2A is a good sort of middle ground of Reach's (modern) detail and trilogy design.

The Spartans are okay. Marines are alright. But they really made the covenant disappointing to look at and fight against in the newer games and I hate that.

Elites always reminded me of alien samurai, they even carry swords and small blades like them. And half of their lines seem to involve honor and carrying themselves with decorum. The armor design could be attributed to the fall of the covenant so now the new Elites have to make due with what they have, but the mandibles are definitely worse. They also feel slower and more cumbersome now, they used to be so difficult to fight because of their shields and ability to move out of your line of fire, the new elites just stand and dodge sometimes. Makes me miss fighting brutes because at least it made sense for them to be lumbering idiots that would then break into a berserk rage and rush you.
They should have kept the old design for the Arbiters Swords of Sanghelios and made the new design for whoever tf is running this sad ragtag faction of what's left of the Covenant

I think the old and new Elites represent some aspect of elite culture, but whereas the old elites embody the positive aspects of Elite culture, the new Elites embody the negative. Quite simply: Old Elites: *Honor* through combat New Elites: Honor through *Combat* I think when Bungie was writing the Elites, they thought of samurai, the Elites have a great respect for the warrior spirt, shown when the Elites rewarded the Grunts for rebelling against them, they have strong sense of kinsmanship and brotherhood, but when 343 looked at Elites, they saw warmongering beasts who only have respect for the strongest, and bully those underneath them, like when they glassed the Grunts home world when they rebelled against them.

What he meant was that they would have to add the old Elite designs into the game. Before you say that they could have just used to ones from H2A, keep in mind that it was made by a different company and 343 just acted as supervisors so they weren't able to get the designs. Plus, 343 has a mandatory time schedule that only allows them to work two weeks on certain aspects of the game which was only made worse when Microsoft enforced a massive change to the game a year before it was released. Though it is sad they couldn't use the classic design for the SOS, its understandable why they decided just to use the new elite design in order to save time and resources.

Bungie began this trend in Reach. I remember when they were developing invasion, there was a lot of talk about the asymmetrical nature of the gamemode, and how Elites were going to be larger and tougher than Spartans. I feel like 343 took this and rolled with it, but rolled a little bit too far, leaving behind their graceful and imperious nature in favor of brute strength.

The original Halo Trilogy, were the best games I've played in my life.
Sectionized I still have my Halo Masterchief Collection because I love the classics. I only play 1-3 on it because the trilogy was the best. 4-5 I cared less for. I played them but 1-3 definitely my favorite just the way they were designed and the nostalgia of being a kid who'd play Halo when school was cancelled because of snow in elementary school. I understand companies have to evolve for newer generations but give something to us who have been there from the beginning. Give back to the first players of the Halo series. lol

I think halo reach had the best elite designs. Halo Reach’s elite design feels much closer to Halo CE elite design. It just has better graphics. Even the Spartan design in Halo Reach was awesome as well

I think reach had the best depiction of elites. They were these tall terrifying creatures that moved with such speed and grace. There would even demonstrate how strong they were when they easily shoved a spartan in mjolnir armor to the ground.

But, I guess we have to not expose the stupidity of H Reach elites, right?

As soon as I heard the Halo 5 Elite voice I was disgusted by the voice, it sounded like they got the voice actors for the brutes in Halo Wars 2 while the Halo 2 Elites sound like someone of nobility and say things a noble would say, almost like they were Japanese samurai, the most noble of people to ever live. yeah i love the classic elites! I always thought of them like they were the samurai of the covenant. Just the way the elites present themselves and have such an importance on honor and nobility in their species. For them there is no greater honor than falling in battle, much like the traditional samurai and their warrior Bushido codes. Love em!

i think it has to do with the graphics as well. the thing with older halo games that i liked, was that it had brightness. 343 halo is literally dark, all the time. its completely washed out and has a total of four colors, Promethean red, 700 different shades of blue, and extremely bright white. Reach and the other bungie halo games had the full spectrum of colors, and, depending on the needed mood, could use color and lighting in a way to give multiple themes. 343 halo is just doom and gloom all the time, while the old games actually felt emotion, and gave a sense of hope behind the impending doom of the flood/covenant. specifically with Elites (and im mostly speaking in terms of machinima/movie-making) using the lighting correctly in halo reach could give an elite a huge number of "characters" my favorite example is the Rise of the Spartans Machinima, by black plasma studios. the Elites played a HUGE role in its story, and with Elites on either side of the conflict, they needed to show some in a certain mood that others wouldn't. lighting and color are massive parts in that area when it comes to film making. 343 apparently hasn't figured that out yet. 343 halo is mostly "filmed" in what movie-makers call high contrast. lots of extremely dark and extremely bright lights and colors in the shot all at once. it makes for a more intense, serious, and dark experience. the Bungie halo games were a mix between high and low key lighting, low for interior/flood, high for exterior areas. ever notice in the original halo games that bad stuff only happens indoors? or if there is something bad outside, there's heavy, overcast weather? this stuff goes unnoticed frequently.

I think H2A tskes the cake for me. The physiology and posture of elites in Reach was fine, and I really like the extra detail and fidelity, but the armors looked really... bulbous... to me. I think H2A is a good sort of middle ground of Reach's (modern) detail and trilogy design.

The Spartans are okay. Marines are alright. But they really made the covenant disappointing to look at and fight against in the newer games and I hate that.

Elites always reminded me of alien samurai, they even carry swords and small blades like them. And half of their lines seem to involve honor and carrying themselves with decorum.
The armor design could be attributed to the fall of the covenant so now the new Elites have to make due with what they have, but the mandibles are definitely worse. They also feel slower and more cumbersome now, they used to be so difficult to fight because of their shields and ability to move out of your line of fire, the new elites just stand and dodge sometimes. Makes me miss fighting brutes because at least it made sense for them to be lumbering idiots that would then break into a berserk rage and rush you.

Honestly during Halo 4 and 5, any time I was shooting Elites or there is a cutscene with an Elite, I don't even know what rank they are anymore due to their armour and design being so messy.

I think the old and new Elites represent some aspect of elite culture, but whereas the old elites embody the positive aspects of Elite culture, the new Elites embody the negative. Quite simply:
Old Elites: *Honor* through combat
New Elites: Honor through *Combat*
I think when Bungie was writing the Elites, they thought of samurai, the Elites have a great respect for the warrior spirt, shown when the Elites rewarded the Grunts for rebelling against them, they have strong sense of kinsmanship and brotherhood, but when 343 looked at Elites, they saw warmongering beasts who only have respect for the strongest, and bully those underneath them, like when they glassed the Grunts home world when they rebelled against them.
Doesn’t change the fact that the new elites look like pure garbage.

It doesn't take any less time to animate and include the 343 elite design. Making the classic design would be just as easy as 343 shit design.
What he meant was that they would have to add the old Elite designs into the game. Before you say that they could have just used to ones from H2A, keep in mind that it was made by a different company and 343 just acted as supervisors so they weren't able to get the designs. Plus, 343 has a mandatory time schedule that only allows them to work two weeks on certain aspects of the game which was only made worse when Microsoft enforced a massive change to the game a year before it was released. Though it is sad they couldn't use the classic design for the SOS, its understandable why they decided just to use the new elite design in order to save time and resources.
