BlairGB1 i mean for a book exploring a game, it did its job and it added a ton of new lore so I would think its still a good addition to the series. Besides, at least its not Cole Protocol.
Zuka and Yayaps's final conversation before Zuka engages Chief on the elevator and Yayap loads supplies into a ghost is sincerely one of the most emotional moments in the Halo novels if you ask me.
This is why you read the books. They expand the story tenfold. There's an entire plot point about the ODSTs and the human side of the halo experience. Also Cheif was one of only 5 people to leave the halo ring in CE

@@locoarticwolf2181 hmm. I think the front would probably do better with one of the forearm armor pieces that have daggar sized plasma swords coming out (like in assassins creed) for most cases, considering that a grunts arm is much too short with a much too bulky body to allow for any safe or viable movement to wield a plasma sword. Or two for that matter, lol.
I didnt really like how they develop the whole Silva and McKay sidestory just to be killed off in the end quickly (in an heroic act, yes, but it still felt like the whole sidestory was a bit of a waste of time). Just my opinion though.
@@LaggyKikee I would argue that the Silva McKay story tells you the human side of the story. With Zuka, we got the Covenant side of things, with Chief, we got the hero's story, but we never really knew how the everyday Marine might fair on the Ring outside of cannon fodder, and the Marines left the story once you go into the Library, gameplay wise. To see how they reacted and intended when the Flood were released was something we would of loved to see, and with the book, we got it. McKay was a survivalist, who just wanted to be clear of the Flood, where as Silva almost took on the role of an ONI Investigator, given that he wanted to bring the Flood back for study, which is exactly what ONI does once they learn of The Flood
I remember reading the Halo books and realizing that Zuka was one of the elites i killed in halo 1. I even used Zamamee as my Halo gamer tag. Still do F. F.
"Other soldiers might engage their enemies with contempt or hatred. Other soldiers might want to kill as many enemies as they can because they feel like their fight is personal, as if killing the enemy will make them feel better. That's where I'm different. I don't hate any enemy I fight. Covenant, Flood, Forerunners. I don't hate a single one of them. I don't hate them because just like me, they have a job to do. It's just theirs comes into direct opposition with mine. That's why I have to fight them. This Elite? He may have been trying to eliminate me, but that's only because it was his mission, his purpose. I'm sorry I had to kill him. Really, I am." John-117
I mean in the books the Elites' attitude towards Grunts is pretty much seeing them as "lesser species". So by all means he may have thought of him as a "pet" more than an assistant.
Snazzy Jovial Wyrm Yea, 343 gave some lore saying that these were different races of the same species or something like that in halo 4. But then they reintroduced Arbiter and the other OG elites having the same design as all the other ugly bastards
I felt genuinely sad for that ending that I even teared up a bit. The two have been through so much, that in the end the two end up dying. The reality where you leave your only “friend” behind to die is saddening. R.I.P. Yap and Zuka
Headcannon. Besides, Sergeant Johnson died in the Halo CE legendary ending. He showed up just fine in Halo 2. I'm still pissed they killed him in Halo 3. He was supposed to be an immortal meme character and Joe Staten (his creator) was pissed they killed him. Zuka Zamamee in the place of N'tho Sroam would be epic
@@217adaptiveperspective Unfortunately that would screw over the Elites because Zuka is a coward (I really doubt he'd have the balls to lead a rebellion, he'd flee and let his brethren get slaughtered) compared to Thel.

On "Assault on the control room" the sword-wielding elite at the end of the first bridge will follow you all the way to the end of the level if you use respawns and checkpoints properly. Might just be on co-op but it's awesome, especially in the elevator ☺️
today we must press F to pay our respects for this iconic duo, but in the end, we must press W... and move forward beyond this saddening event. GG Zuka and Yayap, you did well.
I don’t believe I’ve heard anyone else enact Rick Hale so I consider your transmission re-enactment to be cannon and you to be the actor/model of the character. Too bad he died only moments later.
It is referenced at one point in the game. During your escape on the Warthog, there is an Elite with a Shade Turret right before you reach the supposed extraction point with Foehammer.
Chief is meant to be a blank character for the player to project themselves onto. Zuka Zamamee and Yayap actually have personality beyond unflappable will, hyperlethality, and wry & understated one liners.
Nooo... More like "I am about to detonate this ship's core. Have fun staying behind! Hahahaha!" While your laughter quickly fades away as you sprint towards your salvation.
I wish Masterchief Collections had changed the battle with Zuka to include the elite using a shade turret in the elevator. It would’ve been a nice Easter Egg.
If this story wasn’t canon, I’d definitely believed that this was written by a creative Halo fan just for some random elite in the elevator out of boredom.
@@issackaiser Problem with that is, the book came out around the same time as the game and although fan fiction has existed for awhile, back in 2001 when Combat evolved came out social media wasn't a thing and everyone was not knowledgeable about what fan fiction was, so you wouldn't even had thought this in 2001, you only think it now because in 2021 meme's are a thing, social media is a thing and in the area of stories fan fiction by definition is popular to do and make fun of. Also, seeing things through the modern lens such as this makes you come to different conclusions. " Random elite" every elite besides the main ones would be random, and if yo think about real life, how many people may encounter you through your life and you think nothing about them but they went home and to them you were a big deal, maybe they didn't like the way you looked, how your voice sounds, something you did in public and you have zero idea; this would be the same case with this scenario. Master Chief is a famous war hero, like THE war hero for the humans, everyone knows about him but he only knows the main enemies and relevant info. Any enemy that encounters him has their own story and hate and resentment about Master Chief, bungie just decided to tell the story about a seemingly unimportant elite. I say seemingly because being that the things he did actually impacted the story, it's not random, we were just paying attention to the bigger picture of the game while this is small lore stuff you find out after. Most games have this.

BlairGB1 i mean for a book exploring a game, it did its job and it added a ton of new lore so I would think its still a good addition to the series. Besides, at least its not Cole Protocol.
I read it
Zuka and Yayaps's final conversation before Zuka engages Chief on the elevator and Yayap loads supplies into a ghost is sincerely one of the most emotional moments in the Halo novels if you ask me.

This is why you read the books. They expand the story tenfold. There's an entire plot point about the ODSTs and the human side of the halo experience. Also Cheif was one of only 5 people to leave the halo ring in CE

😂
It basically was the official Halo 1 fanfiction. And it was amazing.
Doesn't it kind of look like a grunt with an energy sword in the thumbnail
Random Penguins That would be one of the most hardcore and badass grunts ever, hell have them dual-wielding energy swords.
No
@@locoarticwolf2181 hmm.
Random Penguins lol that’s what I thought it was until you pointed it out
This is why I love “the flood” that whole side story was amazing.
"the flood" is great but "Mona Lisa" is still my favorite, it's fucking horrifying.

Even now when I go back and play Halo: CE, I still lob rockets and huck grenades into his squad cause I'm playing on legendary.
What I find disappointing was that the master chief never encountered camouflaged combat flood forms during the events of alpha halo in the book
That's because the dude in Charge of writing the book took inspiration from the easy difficulty of the game (wich has no active cammo combat forms)

I felt genuinely sad for that ending that I even teared up a bit. The two have been through so much, that in the end the two end up dying. The reality where you leave your only “friend” behind to die is saddening. R.I.P. Yap and Zuka
I almost wish these two lived to see the end of the war. It would have been hilarious if one of the elite co op characters in halo 3 was Zuka.
That'd be ironic, bet Chief still wouldn't have any idea who Zuka was though.

@@ricegod5379 yea, it sounds like fan fiction.
Random elite" every elite besides the main ones would be random, and if yo think about real life, how many people may encounter you through your life and you think nothing about them but they went home and to them you were a big deal, maybe they didn't like the way you looked, how your voice sounds, something you did in public and you have zero idea; this would be the same case with this scenario.
