I paid about $300 a year ago to get both solenoids replaced on my son's 2013 Malibu with the 2.5L engine. After watching your video, I'm sure I could have replaced them myself. Thank you for your clear video instructions.
Thank you so much for posting this simple little fix. I feel like a weight has been lifted knowing this is something I can fix myself. Thank you very much sir.
My 2015 Malibu is throwing this code. It runs ok when first started and at higher speed, but after driving for like 15 minutes when you slow down it bucks and coughs sometimes stalling. Could this be what is wrong. What are the normal observed symptoms of a vehicle with a bad VCT solenoid.
I'm getting codes P0010 and P0010P. I measured my existing intake VVT solenoid and got a reading of 14.1 ohms, just above the range of 4-12 ohms mentioned in the video but not in the megaohm range like the bad one in the video. Is a reading of 14.1 ohms high enough to indicate that the intake VVT needs to be replaced? I've also seen other TH-cam videos that suggest cleaning the screens and internal portion behind the screens with CCR Mass Airflow Sensor first before buying new solenoids.
If its that close to specs it should be ok...yea, if electronically it checks out ok then u would wanna try cleaning em to see if it helps it out mechanically
Where do you get the connectors I've talked to AutoZone and advance Auto and neither of them even has a listing for the connectors for the 2014 Chevy Malibu with the 2.5 LS
I mean u dont have to but to be safe in case u drop a tool somewhere it should touch..u can disconnect the negative terminal..the benefit it will also reset the code
Too funny The car I'm working on is a silver 2014 Chevy Malibu it's my mother's and it is the exact one that you have in this video same color same interior everything except my mother's is a lot cleaner no offense 😃
I hv a 2013 tht we bought new and iv had to change them twice in till today this will make the 3rd pair.Yes it will cause the car to jerk and cut off at a complete stop.
Oh s*** oh s*** oh s*** I touched mine together. I crossed the f****** streams. What does it mean? I touched him. Is my car going to blow up what I do help?

I’m doing this today for my son’s 2014 Malibu. Was it difficult to do? The video makes it look easy.
@@losdoingthemosttv8314 it's extremely easy.
If you are mechanically inclined at all you will have NO PROBLEM.
My man even included links to the part. Lifesaver.
Thank you🙂

I checked the ohms and my old one was 11.55 and the new one was 6.54.
Would I be able to do this same process for a 15 Chevy Impala LS?

Can I do this in my Chevy Malibu 2016?
I got the replace “variable camshaft timing solenoid” would appreciate if you reply :) thank-you.
Yes, do u have the same 2.0t engine?
I have an LS 1.5L and it’s different
@@tipsytoucan981 did you you replace it?
Can the connectors be replaced?
Yes, u can slide out the wires individually and slide em into a new connector so u dont have to cut the wires..i should make a video on that
@@backyardchevy328 thanks I replaced them yesterday and the clip on the inside broke, it still connected and runs great but I’m worried it will slip.
@@frankflores6247 yea i know what u mean, any vibration can cause it to disconnect and u wouldnt want that
