Nice video! I see you caught 509, very cool!
I will be heading to Fullerton for my Spring Break (April 2 - April 9) do u think i will catch 509 or any heritage engines while there? Also how cone 509 doesn't have its Phase IV heritage paint?
There's no way of knowing that this far in advance. The chance is very slim you will see 509. 509 was repainted last year because it was due for overhaul. That Phase IV paint job it had wasn't really a "heritage" scheme but rather the original phase IV paint it got in 2000.
This is awesome :-) Right into my LOCOMOTIVE playlist :-) Thank you :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Awesome video, you gotta love those Amtrak Dash 8’s
I love the Amtrak horn blasting high and low
I love that blasting BNSF horn.
Awesome video!!!
Awesome Video, Spencer! :)
509 is looking fresh!
Metrolink k5la horns just hit different
Cool and amazing
Interesting to see Metrolink finally using the BNSF locos. Thanks for this.
+Ryan Waters The reason they are is becuase last year a Metrolink coming from Oxnard hit a truck on a crossing a debris got under the cab-car's cowcacther and the train partially de-raild so they are leasing locos to be safe.
+The Dominator Yep I know, I believe today is the anniversary of that too. Was just noting it's interesting to see it finally happen.
That's for sure.
Now, Metrolink doesn't really use AC4400CW's anymore. If they use them to be safer, how come there super rare already??
Not sure, they seem to have done away with them already, that's true.
Speaking of the coast starlight train I'm heading to Klamath falls Oregon on the 27th of May
Nice video. Correct me if I am wrong. It is rare to see a BNSF with a Metrolink. It was also the longest Metrolink I have seen.
no, they did that because of the oxnard crash. the Hyundai rotem cab car was not as safe as metrolink thought it was, so metrolink started to rent some BNSF engines to put in front of the rotem cab car to act as a tougher cab car
hers the link:
ktla.com/2015/03/19/ntsb-releases-preliminary-report-on-fatal-metrolink-train-derailment-in-oxnard/
After that incident, did they stop using the cabcars?
Mr. Awesome they still have them the Oxnard crash was in 2015 which i went to california in the summer of that year, but i didnt know about the crash. i also rode on metrolink and i didnt see any BNSFs on them i guess they were still being requested
Terminator X
Nice video Spencer! I`m always waiting for your new train uploads...
Btw. it looks for me like the P42DC #3 driver won`t get filmed ;) I know that from my country, if you hate that filming guys on track you turn down the sun visor... Not very nice, but reality!
Or the sun was in his eyes lol
I think it is also rare for a Starlight train to be carrying coach cars
👍👍👍👍👍
3:05 It's two trains combined! I think the F40 isn't Amtrak. You did a good job finding those!
there was no F40 on that train it was 2 F59PHIs
metrolink does however have F40PH #800
MrBnsftrain Metrolink #800 is an EX-Amtrak locomotive, I think Metrolink already parked it at a station until next day for 3:15 P.M.
Beautifully tuned whistle. How do you distinguish a k5la from a k5lla from k5h
A K5H sounds a lot different from them, Most K5LLAs can sound like K5LAs though but tbh it’s easy for me to tell them apart just by listening
Wouldn't it make more sense for Metrolink to borrow Amtrak Dash-8's instead of BNSF frieght engines?
Amtrak still uses Dash 8's for switching jobs. BNSF had those AC4400CW's in storage before they were leased to Metrolink. They probably decide to go with those because BNSF had no use of AC4400's since coal has been declining nowadays and the AC440's are getting pretty old.

They're not retired freight locos. They are purpose-built passenger locos.
So sad that it no longer has its phase 3 paint
Does anyone know why BNSF lead push-pull service? One of the new trainsets got damaged and wasn’t protected properly like the Talgo Series 6
I have a Model Train of that! Same number and Same engine type! But it’s in different color.
Missouri and Illinois trains Which train in the video?
It has the same horn as me
Nice it was probably Kris driving that Metrolink if he was using k5la
Good luck with your video you
I also do content like that
14 had a Phase IIIb baggage car, not a phase IV one :p
It had both...
Ahh, Sorry. Didnt watch the whole video through. Thought you were referring to the first baggage car. my bad ;P

Hi Corsterfan2105
coater fan is THAT YOU
How there were 2 coach cars at the back instead of four
Fouled K5 Productions I was talking about the first train. It should have 4 coach cars at the end.

Why is the the k5la on 864 sound like a cab car and seem so fouled?
