I own a 2007 S-Type 3.0. As my mechanic said, when I asked him to look at it before I bought it said, It's a fantastic car, buy it! I've owned its 4 yrs now. It's a daily driver and absolutely the most reliable car I've owned. Still turns heads.

It's always great when you buy a car that you really want, and it more than lives up to expectations!
Hopefully you get many trouble free miles in her!
Thanks for watching ... spread the word.

how is the cost of maintenance, as I am plannign for the same model?

@@MSVRises I've now owned the Jag for six years. Honestly, it's the most dependable car I've ever owned & at 76, I've owned a lot of cars. The secret is to find the lowest mileage car you can. Mine had 52K when I brought it. Check the VIN # for any problems and maintenance records. My Jag is a daily driver, I live in a condo, so no garage. Since I bought the Jag, the only things I've replaced are the windshield washer motor, the battery, and the rear brakes. I don't bring it to a specialty shop, just my regular mechanic. Keep up with maintenance, and you'll have many miles/years of happy motoring.

Thanks for this. Oddly, my 2003 2.5 petrol does have the quick clear screen. Must have been a money saving deletion on later models.

Thanks for watching! Make sure the one you look at has a service history and take it on a long test drive.

That day was last Monday. Bought one quite by accident. .great condition but...worried stiff about how will I afford repairs when that occurs??

Thank you for this in-depth video series!! I'm thinking about getting pretty much exactly the same S-Type 2.7D you're showing in these videos.

Cool. Just check the history and ensure its been properly looked after.

Lovely video. We have a 2005 2.5 s-type and it’s been on limp mode since the time we bought it. Can you suggest a mechanic. I’m based in Middlesex. Thanks.

Sorry, nope. I'm nowhere near Middlesex ...
Find an independent Jag specialist, they'll see you right.

Yes, the S-Type has an air of class about it that I associate with Jaguars of the 1960s era.

The 2.7 diesel engines were the worst diesel engine they made!! Common issue was the crap crankshaft bearings. They didn't have the locking tabs and were basically a ticking time bomb to go wrong and potentially seize the engine!!.Bearing would spin on the crankshaft and have seen crankshafts split into 2 pieces. The 3.0 jag diesel engine is the same lump which replaced the 2.7 just with a few tweeks!! These had the same problems as the 2.7 so again a crap engine!!

    • @journeyofapetrolhead

      Hi James
Thanks for that comment. Amazing how people have totally different experiences with the same engines!
Thanks for watching, check out my other videos too.

@@journeyofapetrolhead Thanks for your reply. My experiences with these engines are not as much as my best mate who has work as a Land Rover specialist mechanic for a number of years. He has encountered the issue mentioned above countless times and it was him who alerted me to the fact that the 3.0 diesel was the same engine as the 2.7 with just small tweeks!! Land rover didn't learn from the issue of the bearing shells not having tabs on the ends and so it was a total disaster engine!! You only have to look on internet for landrover crankshaft issues to see the vast issue.
