I think your dad would have been very proud of you Richard, you have a cracking youtube channel helping to explain the workings of a dairy farm to the wider world. Esp during Covid! You also have a wonderful family. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos 👍👍👍
Enjoying your channel Richard, thank you for taking the time to do the videos as you work. Induction, compression, ignition, exhaust or in other words suck, squeeze, bang, blow.
Another great video Richard, dragging the marital bed spring around your freshly sown field 😂 what ever subject you film is fine by me and know doubt all your other fans Richard.👍
The fineness and redness of your soil is somewhat reminiscent of Devonshire soil that was and no doubt still is Fine Red and Drains quickly, the gardener at the hotel we stayed at said it didn't hold the moisture to long, funny little footnote he was the head gardener in my local park in Essex progressed on to Kew Gardens then retired to Torquay it's a small world.
The fields coming on a treat BTW I did put a fine and it was a fine covering of NPK mix over the new lay in urley spring to much would bern the grass but the light cover did great
U get upset talking about yr dad I feel the same watching you. There's nothing wrong with showing us lot how much you care is there .bless them.take care
I think you should get your self an old tractor to do up with the boys not to get done straight away but some thing you can take your time on with the boys etc
Funny the things you can remember back thirty years ago in my ag day’s an advisor said to me pull a hand full of grass and if there’s not more than two purple roots in ten it wants to be reseeded.
Don't think the frame of the harrow is supposed to drag on the ground as well. If you had set your controls correctly to a minimum height. Or an engine can be known as suck, squeeze, bang, blow.
Great job should be great result. Any more than half an inch is too deep for clover seed. When I sowed grasseed before direct drilling into soil, I would only chain harrow and wait for emergence before rolling because the two jobs would bury the seed to deep. Hope you left a little rolling for Jack. (We don’t need to see it😉)
Memories of ploughing in the Springtime. Within minutes of starting there would be an entourage of seagulls and crows following the plough feasting on the worms and whatever else was turned up. Two furrow Ransomes plough being hauled by a Fordson Major. And being told off for going too fast. Followed by multiple other implements to work the soil down to a seedbed. All very different to today's methods. Shame there are no photographs.
When I left school at 15, I worked on a farm in East Sussex, and you could see the South Downs. An old farmer from the west country, that was visiting, called me over, one day, and said "I'm going to tell you something now that you will always remember". I of course thought it was some piece of farming knowledge, but he said, "If you can see the Downs, it's going to rain, if you can't it's raining". He was right, 50+ yrs on, I still remember.
Tricky Dicky it was a bit of farming knowledge. I am forever on the weather app trying to make decisions. Where we are, if we see a big black cloud over the distant hill, we expect rain in 20 minutes.
@@thefunkyfarmer I was watching and as the video played, they the yellow markers didn't actually play adverts. But when I saw them, I thought I'd be having to skip ads every 30seconds. I didn't though, sorry!
Awesome video again Richard. I bet the poor old tractors air filter will want blowing out. Your dad sounds just like mine would always have us kids busy lol and asking have you done this have you done that around the farm. Funny how sometimes when I'm doing something his words will pop into my mind. Beautiful sunrise best time of the day up and around before the world awakes. Looking forward to the next video. Regards to the family

Great job Richard good to see it from start to finish.
Great job Richard that will be a very good field of grass when the rain comes.
Yes it will
Loved the longer video
Been very interesting to see all of the steps in this, and all of the different equipment. Hope it greens up real nice for you.
Did you know you had a tree growing in the cabof the tractor? Good job on the seed bed. Hopefully the grass will come through quickly.
you do a good Job Richard Love your Videos. this is helping me get throw this awful virus. keep up the good work buddy.
Great video Richard 👍🏻 hope it grows good
I hope so too
Great neat job. Should have some nice lush grass for early next spring.🌱🌱👍
Definitely!
almost in full camoflage just a thought is it worth putting the bucket on the front to collect stones
Nice sentiment of ur dad. The bucket on the loader would be handy for the stones
The fields coming on a treat BTW I did put a fine and it was a fine covering of NPK mix over the new lay in urley spring to much would bern the grass but the light cover did great
would your friend who will sort the pigions out be called Farmer P by any chance?

What the camouflage for ? Hiding from the boys
wow what a lot of work. wonderful job. when do you think the grass will be cow ready again? I miss Friday lives.
Will you be applying a compound fertiliser at all Richard.

You could put the bucket on the loader instead the fork .You can pick stones. Why didn't you chain haro when you man was sowing grass seed
Great job 👍 are you or did you compound fertiliser on? Hope it grow well 👍 update in a week or so please 👌👏👏👍
just muck, i'll see how it turns out
Brilliant video!
I remember from Hartpury engine working,suck squeeze,bang,blow.
Good effort with the filming under the circumstances
Good job what's the cost an acre for your reseed 👍
It was funney when you had the branch in the harow my father says in light land you could till it with a bush
Are you going to take a crop of silage off it next year? Be a shame to not capitalise on the new grass 👌🏻 looking forward to seeing an update video 👍🏻
Would going over with the harrow not push the fine seed in to deep? 🙏
No it just tickles a little soil over it oldest way of putting grass seed in
And the benefits of the rolling after the harrowing?
@@aaronbrody6713 ferms the seed bed up pushes stones down

@@aaronbrody6713 I use a wox green master it harrows broadcasts and rolls in one pass

Dont be shi give a try, it will save you fuel, time and money.
