From across the pond, enjoy your farm videos. When will the slurry pit be operational, it certainly will improve the application & absorption into the ground decreasing the loss of nitrogen. Dribble bars seem to work well, but need to make an implement to slice the ground allowing the slurry to enter the ground and not remain on the surface of the grass. Thank you for being a farmer, and feeding the people! 🙂 🙏
what a lot of people forget is that prior to the 70s village folk and some town folk bought manure from farmers for their flower and vegetable gardens, it was a good way to make a little more money, but now there are very few people who buy it from the farmer they buy compost from a garden center...
Hi rich what about liquid form from the lagoon is that not good enough that's has good has muck spreading is it not better to save money than waste it you got good fertiliser under your feet yes is your yield a big difference from fertiliser than that of manure
Great video Richard, wish I lived near you, I'd love to help you out for free (retired now)as I can smell that muck now. Many farmers are now wishing they had thousands of tons of your well rotten muck.
Richard , I think your on the Sydney Youngblood top of the pops TH-cam video 1989. At 1.40 your at the left side of the stage wearing a white shirt and black tie
Hello why not use slurry,a farmer up the road from me uses it on all his grass and corn crops,we can tell when he spreads it,it also keeps the swans and geese off his crops
A different type of manure spreader would help you get a much better coverage an less poo ball , I use a V tank side slinger spreader, JD 874 , New Holland an many other manufacturers make them, cheers from across the pond one farmer to another
Have you ever thought of setting up a vermiculture system Richard. Worm castings make for a wonderful fertilizer. I use it in Australia and I'm sure you being there you could get help from the government. Cheers from Oz.
Richard ,has the price of milk risen for you?.We are a small dairy farm here in Vermont ,fuel and fertilizer have jumped in price here as well.Best of luck.
The fellow behind me spreads muck on his grass field every couple years. I will bet the smell will slow your poachers down for a while! Lol I takes a couple weeks before we can go outside! Lol
It's definitely worrying times for all, the fat cat energy bosses are the only ones laughing these days. How is Cathy(33)? Hope she is still doing well
I thought you were in partnership with your brother to do jobs on the farm. Hence he should be muck spreading. Take it in turns 😆 Maybe farming will go back to basics like they did in the 19th / 20th centuries.
Just a suggestion but Sell your old 200 series Massey they are making good money and you only seem to use it to turn hay and use the money to buy fertiliser
Have you been able to make any use of the slurry Rich?
Your new slurry pit could be a blessing 😂 tough times ahead. Best of luck! Brilliant video 💪🏻 🏴
Should use the slurry in the lagoon
There's commitment to your art; set-up a camera so it gets pelted with muck 😄
Loving your work ❤
Wow, your muck spreader "Crusty" is well camouflaged, ha ha.

I would have thought with all the manure and slurry available from the cattle you wouldn't need to buy in artificial fertiliser.

Are you planting maize?

Why the massey working only with the muck muck spreading?
Good question. And it needs a good wash to. It's the best looking tractor u have. If it got a wash
Does the manure like you've been spreading have much nitrogen in, or is it mainly other nutrients?
He"s a Champion dung spreader.
Aromatherapy for fields ?

I think Bokashi techniques will be utilised going forward for a quicker turnaround of muck 👍🏻

Never did I think I would be watching someone shovel BS quite so well Richard! HA LOL ;) Black gold is right!! :) Muck spreaders unite!!! :) :)
For a minute there i thought you were playing target practice with the camera 💩➡️🎥
Another dirty job the grass getting a good feed
Doing the same today
Get some slurry dumped on there for good measure, you've paid and arm and leg for the lagoon so you might as well get some benefit out of it.
The clutch on that McCormick is not the best anymore.
Has a hard life
source chicken manure from a chicken guy or pig manure
