We've only just bought him a beater Steeldive 1970 Captain Willard dive watch for Xmas but really wanted something a little special for him, which was going to be either a vintage 1975 Sicura Marine Star or the Nivada F77 Royal Oak style watch but finding the right ones was proving to be difficult and elusive ......so thank you so much for this video, we'd never have come across it had it not been for you! My only gripe is that I won't be getting one for myself! Grrhhh!😭

I backed this originally on the Kickstarter....it failed...I was absolutely gutted...but after they'd failed at a second Kickstarter they released the watch anyway a while later. I bought one immediately....it's my watch of the year...just stunning, distinctive, amazing value and the best bezel action I've ever felt. I've bought about 30 watches this year...including san Martin, Phoibos, zelos, wicked watch co pearl diver, Seiko's and the helm Komodo...and the forteller Cambrian is still my favourite this year. Superb.

Some Islanders are right there with specs, design and build quality (minus the 300m WR), but the included watch roll, straps and tools is a real differentiator for me especially at this price. Great video, thank you.
I saw the unboxing you did of this watch, checked out some other reviews and bought one. I got the white dial and I LOVE it!! Hasn't been off my wrist yet. I didn't find anything wrong with the clasp and while it may be a little thick you soon get used to it for such a beautiful watch.

The Horween straps are worth the price of admission by themselves. I put one on a Christopher Ward C60 Sapphire Black and one on an Islander Mitchel Field Watch and I can't stop smelling my wrist. I think Forteller unlocked something in me.

This is the one of those brands that are gonna go big in the future, the watch is perfect in every sense, they went for a classic style for their first model to be on the safe side I guess, but it is a beautiful all-rounder nonetheless, I expect them to come out with something more daring for their next model, let's see.
Hi Gary, I have the white full lumed one. The weakness I see is the clasp. The outer portion of the clasp is a bit underwhelming. It does the job, but the $6 AliExpress clasps are better.
Got my blue dial in like three days ago and I absolutely love it!! It looks great on the bracelet but the leather strap is so comfortable that I haven’t worn it on anything else since. I fell asleep with it on and when I woke up a few hours later I was still able to read to the time in the dark. The applied indices look really nice and I like the depth that the arch seems to have when seen at an angle.
Was just on the website out of curiosity. They gave a very nice bundle with straps, tools, additional spring bars. I like that how they care for the customers. Great price and specs, too bad everything was sold out.. Thanks for the video.. 🙂

Very nice....I do agree on the thickness, mostly because virtually nobody except for professionals will ever see 300 meters,,at best a few might scuba a bit but will never go deep enough to require a watch capable of that depth.

This is almost perfect to me. It even has my favorite fossil on the back. I can't escape the feeling that it needs just a little something else to stand apart from everyone else though? The clasp is easily rectified, a glide lock or something easily adjustable for 1-1.5 link's length would be appreciated too. Maybe a red tip to the second hand? PVD or black Melonited case perhaps?

Great value. Was never sure why they didn't get the full support on Kickstarter a year or so ago. Glad they're still going. Agree, clasp, and 200m would be good. The dial is killer, I'd love to see a sports watch (non dive) from them, but with 150-200m WR, screw down crown. Bit too slab sided for me I think

Outside of Aliexpress, the only other watches I can think of that give that much value-for-money at this pricepoint are the Aquatico Dolphin and the venerable Orient Kamasu.

Great review Gary! The blue one is almost a clone of Zelos style at about $50 less. I have decided that a little bigger say 42mm and much thinner and lighter is my prefered size and weight. Lately, I tend to go for titanium cases and easy to read dials on rubber straps. Nice microbrand find, however, looking forward to their next pilot, field, chrono or dress watch.

I've actually been looking for a 38mm titanium diver with nice dial and the only one that seems to fit the bill is the Zelos Mako v3, or a P39 but that's not quite budget. Lmk if you know any other options.
I bought this particular watch around 5 months ago, the lume on the 12 o clock is really dim compared to the others, so lume not applied evenly. The bezel is soooooo tight that I can barely even rotate it. And the accuracy is about -25 secs a day. That's just the one I have, not saying its gonna be like that for all the other ones
I was sad to discover they sold out. Then I’ve gotten one for Christmas. Very nice and the thickness and size isn’t a problem. Unfortunately, customs asked for a bit of extra for import from Norway. But that only left the watch being somewhat more reasonably priced. Nor miraculously cheap, but still cheap. Thanks for the tip, very nice indeed. Esp. the blue dial on brown leather strap.
Yikes, this is getting crazy. Blue dial #47 on bracelet and White dial #74 on rubber strap checking in from America. Gobsmacked by what I got for the money. Received it in less than a week from Norway to USA!!!!! I told my friends that I bought a 3 watch band set with carrying case and they were nice enough to throw in a free watch! Blue dial for day, white dial for night.
I bought the black dial version back in July and has not left my wrist since then. Really impressed with its looks and build quality. The lume in my particular model, however, is not great. Acceptable, especially given the price point, but not great. Not a big problem for me. I can happily live with it. Overall an incredible watch for the money.
Really nice watch and i have it on my list now but i totally agree about the thickness. I dont have a need for a 300m diver as i assume most people dont, so a little thinner and i think it would go to the top of that list. Very impressive though.
Wow! Great lume, impressive specs and a trilobite on the reverse! If I were in the market for another diver, I'd definitely give this one a serious look. Also, I think the brushing is a little coarse - I think the Cronos I'm wearing and the San Martins in my watch box and they look a little more fine. Still, if you want to avoid an AliExpress watch, this looks like a great option.
We made the brushing slightly rougher then original prototype so you could better see the direction of it. You don't notice it without the right lighting or a macro lens. We did however sharpened the transitions between brushing and polishing.
Nice looking watch at a great price. I prefer a thinner watch instead of 300m capability . I didn’t catch the name of the company. Their dial logo sort of looks like a menorah.
Forteller is the company and the logo is a mirrored F from the old Norse language(viking era). We would only save 0.8mm at 200m water resistance and the crystal would be a lot weaker.
Looks awesome! I don't mind the cheap clasp, if that's the only thing that is a weak point, it's the one thing that can be swapped easily. I'll be fitting a glidelock adjuster onto the blue one 🤙
@@rlrnyc you can get Rolex style glidelock clasps from aliexpress, I've got a fully brushed one here waiting, if it fits properly I'll reply here again in a few days once my blue one arrives...
Great looking watch and one I have considered buying, but after reading Portorož 1905' s comments below on the bezel scratching easily, could you do a follow up video after wearing the watch for a while ?
I've answered his comment and most likely the matte finish acts as super fine sandpaper against harder objects like rock or metals(knives) and such(anything that has a mohs hardness of lower than 8 could get this effect) The solution is usually using water to wash away the remaining residue of whatever you accidentally sharpened using your watch as sandpaper🙃 If you have scraped your watch on something harder than ceramic you could get permanent marks, but ceramic is harder the majority of this your watch will be scratching against😉

I bought the last blue dial version last Saturday. It arrived today and it's a beautiful watch. I just checked their website on the off chance and they had one in stock. I too thought they had sold out months ago.
Did you say $15 or $50 for shipping? Are they selling the watches cheaper and making up for it with shipping??? Also the black and my pick, the white are sold out. There's still around 100 left of the blue.
$15, but it depends on where in the world. We have actually turned up the price of the watch from $199-$219 and reduced the shipping with $20 at the checkout as most people prefer this. Shipping is very expensive these days due to fuel prices.(Shipping a watch from Norway to UK in 1-3 days for $15 is probably impossible) The black model is also sold out now, but the blue is quite the looker and I've gotten a lot of people asking about it when i were it.

The reduction is only 0.8 mm when reducing it to 200m. Using a sapphire caseback or a slimmer movement is far more effective as they do not have any strength loss from reducing the sapphire thickness(but both are pricey options). The watch is 13.5mm at the ring around the trilobite, it is only the thorax of the trilobite that is 14,3mm thick.

Bang on with that review, I agree with the comments on thickness, it's personal taste but a 1-2mm thinner 200m divers would be even better.

Funny you say that, I recently sold my teal dial blacktip zelos, and bought this blue one instead. I'm not sure which zelos this is a clone of though?

I was sad to discover they sold out. Then I’ve gotten one for Christmas. Very nice and the thickness and size isn’t a problem. Unfortunately, customs asked for a bit of extra for import from Norway. But that only left the watch being somewhat more reasonably priced. Nor miraculously cheap, but still cheap. Thanks for the tip, very nice indeed. Esp. the blue dial on brown leather strap.
Yikes, this is getting crazy. Blue dial #47 on bracelet and White dial #74 on rubber strap checking in from America. Gobsmacked by what I got for the money. Received it in less than a week from Norway to USA!!!!! I told my friends that I bought a 3 watch band set with carrying case and they were nice enough to throw in a free watch! Blue dial for day, white dial for night.
does it ship straight away? it says something about shipping in june but thats probably when they just announced it

I bought the black dial version back in July and has not left my wrist since then. Really impressed with its looks and build quality. The lume in my particular model, however, is not great. Acceptable, especially given the price point, but not great. Not a big problem for me. I can happily live with it. Overall an incredible watch for the money.
Would consider but the thickness really lets it down
The ring around the trilobite is only 13,5mm, but due to the 3D sculpting it it is 14,3mm at it's peak along the thorax line(middle part).
If they ever make a titanium diver I'd be on it. The weight and thickness is just a bit too much for me.

Really nice watch and i have it on my list now but i totally agree about the thickness. I dont have a need for a 300m diver as i assume most people dont, so a little thinner and i think it would go to the top of that list. Very impressive though.
Wow! Great lume, impressive specs and a trilobite on the reverse! If I were in the market for another diver, I'd definitely give this one a serious look. Also, I think the brushing is a little coarse - I think the Cronos I'm wearing and the San Martins in my watch box and they look a little more fine.
Still, if you want to avoid an AliExpress watch, this looks like a great option.
We made the brushing slightly rougher then original prototype so you could better see the direction of it. You don't notice it without the right lighting or a macro lens. We did however sharpened the transitions between brushing and polishing.
Nice looking watch at a great price. I prefer a thinner watch instead of 300m capability . I didn’t catch the name of the company. Their dial logo sort of looks like a menorah.
Forteller is the company and the logo is a mirrored F from the old Norse language(viking era). We would only save 0.8mm at 200m water resistance and the crystal would be a lot weaker.
Looks awesome! I don't mind the cheap clasp, if that's the only thing that is a weak point, it's the one thing that can be swapped easily. I'll be fitting a glidelock adjuster onto the blue one 🤙

@@rlrnyc you can get Rolex style glidelock clasps from aliexpress, I've got a fully brushed one here waiting, if it fits properly I'll reply here again in a few days once my blue one arrives...

Great looking watch and one I have considered buying, but after reading Portorož 1905' s comments below on the bezel scratching easily, could you do a follow up video after wearing the watch for a while ?
I've answered his comment and most likely the matte finish acts as super fine sandpaper against harder objects like rock or metals(knives) and such(anything that has a mohs hardness of lower than 8 could get this effect)
The solution is usually using water to wash away the remaining residue of whatever you accidentally sharpened using your watch as sandpaper🙃
If you have scraped your watch on something harder than ceramic you could get permanent marks, but ceramic is harder the majority of this your watch will be scratching against😉

Hi Gary I agree these watches look fantastic. I’m very interested in the blue version and was also considering the Seiko glacier 62mas but for the money the Cambrian is an absolute no brainer. Would you agree?

I bought the last blue dial version last Saturday. It arrived today and it's a beautiful watch. I just checked their website on the off chance and they had one in stock. I too thought they had sold out months ago.
Did you say $15 or $50 for shipping? Are they selling the watches cheaper and making up for it with shipping??? Also the black and my pick, the white are sold out. There's still around 100 left of the blue.
$15, but it depends on where in the world. We have actually turned up the price of the watch from $199-$219 and reduced the shipping with $20 at the checkout as most people prefer this. Shipping is very expensive these days due to fuel prices.(Shipping a watch from Norway to UK in 1-3 days for $15 is probably impossible)
The black model is also sold out now, but the blue is quite the looker and I've gotten a lot of people asking about it when i were it.

Looks great for the money
No one really needs 300m of WR. Make it 12mm thick and I would be buying the blue sunburst dial version.
The reduction is only 0.8 mm when reducing it to 200m. Using a sapphire caseback or a slimmer movement is far more effective as they do not have any strength loss from reducing the sapphire thickness(but both are pricey options).
The watch is 13.5mm at the ring around the trilobite, it is only the thorax of the trilobite that is 14,3mm thick.
