We hope you enjoy this episode (recorded before the LA fires took place). Due to the circumstances, the new release date for Rebecca's project, SALVATION, is February 27, 2025. But in the meantime you can still blast some SUGAR WATER CYANIDE- out now wherever you listen to music!
She's been lowkey flying under the radar but I read last week that she had a DJ set at Berghain in 2022, which is a BIG deal, and she killed it. Then her Boiler Room set has probably been one of the best of the year. Underground diva if you ask me I'm so happy for her
she hasn't really been flying under the radar at all, honestly. she's been putting out music and doing shows for years. but i just don't think she's been getting the recognition she deserves, so i love seeing her getting some light. her single "girlfriend" that came out last year or 2023 is sooooooo good too btw.
The early 2000s were wild. I know Justin Bieber isn't as well liked, but take a look at the original comments on his old music videos, they're abhorrent.
I am so glad Rebecca was stronger than the then internet's truly vile and ceaseless response to Friday. It's hard to describe if you weren't there to see it. You should be proud of yourself Rebecca, not just for getting through it, but continuing to grow as a person, reflect on it all and making a conscious decision to chase dreams.
Josh asking the question, "Do you remember the first time you used disassociation to keep you safe?" That hit incredibly close to home as a person of childhood trauma. I really love and appreciate the depth that comes from these interviews. Thank you Josh!
10:44 crying at Josh not allowing her to minimize her trauma!!especially since it was such a public event 😭 So happy Rebecca is doing better now, I loved her boiler room set
Last Meals is a brilliant format. I appreciate Josh's ability to focus in on meaningdul aspects of human experience, even the darker parts and yet still be entertaining without losing the content. Josh raises interviewing to high art.
I've gotta say this has been one of my favorite episodes of last meals. Josh you are such an amazing interviewer and it was great to see and hear Rebecca. She's an incredible person and so glad she never let the hate ruin her and she harnessed it.
I’m so happy to see her here! Most people know her from Friday but she’s been making great music for a couple years now and recently got into DJing (which she’s also great at). I highly recommend checking her songs out, especially to hyperpop fans. Seen her live in Berlin and she always brings such great energy to her shows ❤
I love that Josh was hired as a behind the camera producer etc and had no plans to be on camera and now he is all the time and he is great. Especially this show. Great job Josh! And great job mythical crew! You really know how to find and grow on screen talent
When I was 13 years old I once ran into a wall on purpose, full force, because I thought it would impress my dog. I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been to deal with the whole world at that age.
I love Hot Ones as an interview show, but the quality of these Last Meals episodes is quickly making them become my new favorite. Between the personality reflected in the meal choices, the longer runtimes, and Josh's thoughtful, well-informed questions, I feel so much more connected to these celebrities than the next best interviews on the internet could make me feel
I don’t think I’ll ever be in a position in my life where I can be on this episodic show of last meals. But I love who is asked to be on the show and what they do with it.
She brought it up. She apparently misses the D while pretending she's "queer" in order to have a victim card and get some sympathy from the other weaklings.
Josh is a magnificent, deft, generous, and disarming interviewer. Immediate chemistry with everyone he interviews and instant humanizing of his guests. Rebecca is such an interesting human! Such an amazing show
Friday is such a big part of me as a teacher. We party to it every Friday during the school year, I play it over the speakers to the entire school. On days that I don’t get to it right away, kids notice. The song means a lot to me. It makes me so happy to know she is okay with it now and her feelings on it make me so comfortable ❤
I cant speak for other generations, but I really think Josh is the best interviewer of our generation. The attention to detail, the support he provides during these interviews, and the respect of both boundaries as well as knowing how far he can push them while being respectful still. Every guest truly seems to enjoy themseles and I cant remember him ever yucking someone's yum. I love this series. ❤
Dya know what, she could have disappeared into obscurity, never to be heard from again but she’s actually been grafting her arse off and has real talent! Not to mention she’s never lost her humility. I love her ❤
Omg I wish this had more views 😭😭. The kids don't know how iconic Friday was as a song. Music parodies were my childhood and to see a viral video help spring board her name out there was incredible
Rebecca saying she wishes Peña Nieto had been a better candidate... like damn she knows HAHAHAHAHA i didn't expect to hear about mexican politics but I'm so here for it!
And she's somehow even worse than she was in "Friday". By the way, there isn't many types of music worse than "latina quееr". Who the hell listens to a kind of music because it's "queer"???
I respect the hell out of her choosing a kid cuisine as part of her last meal, it feels so real, just pure childhood nostalgia over picking something that's just plainly delicious
At least at my school it was super overplayed. They played it on the intercoms every Friday for months. I started disliking uptown funk and happy by Pharrell after they were overplayed too
The last "Friday" situation that I can recall is that poor guy who wanted to be on SNL, made a slightly cheesy song about it and basically got bullied off of TikTok. Even then, I remember thinking, "Have we learned nothing from Rebecca Black?". It is slighlty different because he is a full grown man and Rebecca was 13... but still.
I do think it was a little different because he as an adult and was acting very cocky in the video which definitely rubbed people the wrong way, but the amount of hate he received was definitely completely out of hand. It's way to easy to not realize how your words online will actually affect a real person
rebecca played at boston pride and it was sensational! so glad that after her boiler room set more and more folks are giving her the credit she deserves
Multiple times I watch a Last Meals episode that I am maybe only mildly interested in (maybe I don’t really know much about the guest or haven’t followed their career in a significant way, maybe just generally feel indifferent about them) and by the end I find myself really being endeared to them or otherwise feeling like I just watched a really meaningful conversation/connection between two people, one of whom I already respect and love, and it’s just such a wonderful unexpected treat every time!!!
I had a teacher in my junior year of high school who played friday every single friday in calss cause he genuinely thought it was a fun song but also he enjoyed our pain.
Josh did a great job this episode! I knew nothing about miss Rebecca other than FRIDAY until today! Thoroughly insightful, and her meal looks delicious, and their chemistry was magic!

Can we get an updated last meals with Josh where someone (maybe Nicole or Rhett) takes his place? I think Josh would be awesome in the new format. His OG last meal video 3 years ago was too much food not enough Josh
Having grown up just miles from her and my brother having gone to middle school with her, it’s just wild to hear her talk about all my childhood hotspots and school and just know everything 😅
I worked at a dance studio when Friday came out, and it became tradition to play the Friday song as the last song at every Friday night party. So much so that when somebody forgot to play it as the last song, the whole studio would grumble until they played it. That song holds some really precious memories for me.
Rebecca Black deserves the WORLD. Her Boiler Room set was incredible and the fact that her dream and her passions did not die with Friday says so much about her as a person and a creator.
As someone who was young enough at the time to enjoy and giggle at Friday, but not old enough to really understand the pain it was causing and the horrifying side of it all, thank you for sharing these deep moments with us and letting us see how far you've come! You're truly an inspiration!
I had a teacher who played Friday, every Friday, since a week after it came out. He left instructions to make sure subs played it for him. I recently spoke to his class nearly a decade after graduating, he still plays it every week.

Came here for this comment - her boiler room set is SO GOOD
She flew into a brick wall on her first attempt on flying. Apparently, it was head first, considering the moronic thoughts she spills here.
@@Zombot012 Give us examples of those moronic thoughts. Go on.
Looking back as an adult, is so embarrassing at the way society treated a singing child

This makes me happy, she’s been my top artist on Spotify wrapped for like three years in a row and people just keep sleeping on her
It's kind of tragic how many people only know her because of Friday. She is a phenomenal singer with a solid career. What a great episode.
