A lot of female scientists have proposed that periods arent actually starting earlier! Its more likely and more easily confirmed that we are just seeing a larger and more diverse sample size of young women!!! Its laregly hereditary and its still fairly rare to not have a similar start time to women in your own family. Certain meds can for sure effect it but its not very common, quite a lot of young women experience hormonal imbalances that we simply werent aware of or able to diagnosis until recently and we are still barely getting started. We dont know as much about female and intersex bodies as its STILL in 2025 not researched in most drug or treatment trials. We are still not even allowed medical bodily autonomy in most of the world. Be very skeptical when reading studies on any medical subject, misinformation spreads like wildlife because the honest truth is that not only does the average man know nothing about the female body, the majority of WOMEN dont know anything about the female body.
There's also been a lot of stigma around menstruation historically, so I wonder if it just wasn't being recorded as often or correctly as you mentioned. Interesting to look into though.
